I’ve written about my intentions of posting my photographs on here together with my non-photography posts but I’m sorry for that retarded statement. Out of respect for photography, I decided to make a separate blog only for my photos and it is over at marvinpidophotography.blogspot.com. Although all of my photos will posted there this blog will be updated too if ever I post something on there so you never miss a thing. Capisci? Good!

Hi and Welcome to Shit Happens [Redux]. I am Marvin Pido and I am the proud owner of this blog which I stopped about 8 months ago due to apathy for everything blogging. Since I wasn’t really updating that blog and I got tired of writing the same old shit that I write each time I do blog, I decided to stop the blog altogether. That, then along came Twitter. Twitter’s premise is quite simple: post your thoughts in 140 characters or less. It’s fast, less-engaging in that you don’t need to spend hours of writing, editing, proof-reading, et cetera - things you would normally do if you’re blogging – and thus the term, ‘micro-blogging’. Now if you’re anything like me, Twitter would seem to be your perfect social networking nirvana (and it is, by the way) and so I had some sort of Virtual Diaspora - shifting from blogging to twitter.

During that hiatus, I got involved in photography which is a fun endeavor and I really enjoyed and learned a lot from that. Although I do not intend to be a pro someday and this is just pure hobby to me, it is now eating most of my time that I’m not working in the office. By the way, I work as a System Administrator here in Dubai. But seriously, System Administrator is just my fancy way of saying Desktop Support. I’m more of that guy who gets down on his knees, goes under the desk, eats spider webs in the process to fix that friggin’ network cable. But I’m not complaining. There’s an old adage that goes “beggars can’t be choosers” and it does aptly apply here. I hope I’m not giving you the wrong impression though that I’m all clueless about that stuff but you know, just leave the System Administration voodoo to those who really know! So, there.

While learning photography, following great photogs who Twitter, I realized I shouldn’t have stopped the blog after all. Reading all those photography blogs I realize how useful it can be for a budding photographer like me and how powerful a marketing tool Twitter really is. So after a long serious thinking of the pros and cons of having a blog, I decided to have another go at it. Shit Happens [Redux] is a by-product of all that musings. Now I know Shit Happens isn’t the first thing that will come into mind if you’re a blogger thinking about your potential photoblog name, but it was to me. Aside from the fact that I don’t want to deviate from my old blog’s name no matter how gross-sounding that was, I also kinda dig the word ‘redux’ so Shit Happens [Redux] it is!

I aim to talk about anything and everything photography – news, tips and tricks I learned, shooting experiences, you name it – I’ll be posting some of my shots here, probably link to other photographers I admire, and whatnot. Also, I have a passion on all iPhone-related stuff so I might throw something related to iPhone in the fray from time to time. I aim to maintain this as a personal blog though. Know that I’m not trying to cater a specific niche here but mostly I’ll be talking about photography, iPhone, and everything in between.
