3 years ago, a peer lended this wonderful book and said that I would really love the message it conveys. Read the blurb and then began exploring ‘The Last Lecture’ and by the time I flipped the last, I was all set to read and implement the small little yet powerful ways to bring a happier and positive change in my life as well as those around me. Randy knew that his days were counted but he is a true ‘Achiever’ who lived it up to accomplishing his dream and spreading the message of positive thoughts and credentials for living life to the fullest, come what may. Who said childhood dreams cannot be accomplished. They can, with focus, dedication, belief and by adding fun and joy in our everyday life.

Randy Paush still lives as a motivator for millions. Sharing a few here :

· Have specific dreams.

· Be good at something. It makes you valuable. Have something to bring to the table, because that will make you more welcomed.

· When you don’t get what you want, you get experience.

· Most of what we learn, we learn indirectly (or by "head fake")

When we send our child to learn cricket,

what is intended is that they learn the art of teamwork, sportsmanship, perseverance which comes handy all their lives. Cricket is just a medium.

· Have fun.

· It’s not what you say, but how you say it.

· Hand the torch to somebody who can carry it forward. “When you’ve had something for 10 years that you hold so precious, it’s the toughest thing in the world to hand it over, and the only advice I can give you is find somebody better than you to hand it to.”

· Get somebody to be reflective.

· Never lose the child-like Wonder.

· There are moments that change your life.

· Work and play well with others.

· Apologize properly.

· Never give up. “Don’t bail; the best gold is at the bottom of the barrels of crap.”

· Do the right thing. When you do the right thing, good stuff has a way to happen.

· Get a feedback loop and listen to it.

· Show gratitude

· Don’t complain. Just work harder.

· Find the best in everybody.

· Be prepared. “Luck" is where preparation meets opportunity.

· If you lead your life the right way, your dreams will come to you.

Randy aptly said that it’s not about how to achieve your dreams, but how to lead your life. If you lead your life the right way, the Karma will take care of itself. The dreams will come to you.

The smoke from the vehicles and the deafening honking added much more to the traffic block. Not actually a long one but then the ‘Tempo’ was moving inch by inch. Every jerk did wonders by aggravating my subsided back pain. How best I kill the thoughts is with some random thought bubbles.One such one

Economics theories and researchers spend days and nights pondering about normalizing the inflation rate in par with the defined set of taxation policies attached with every commodity (Thank God! We haven’t to pay tax for the Air we breathe as of now).

Basically, the rich are getting richer and the poor need not to bear the brunt of taxation because they are the ‘ under PRIVILEDGED poor’ and the middle class gets to experience each and every pinch of pain. They travel by bus, rickshaw, train for the rest of their lives and make the best of these ‘Public Transports’ but then .sigh! The public transports have become insufficient to carry the weight of the tormenting population in every metro. Petrol rates have added a pricy cherry to all offerings. All that remains same is the image of aam insaan, jo aaj bhi sarkari waahano mein dhaakke khaake jeeta hai! So the vicious circle of money and distribution holds ineffective here.

HEIGHTS of KITES !

Four hours of travel (to and fro) to the city outskirts to get a good view of Kites.

My mind was wandering for a focus and then i see the 'Intermission' board. Still with the slightest of hope i sat gazing at the screen telling myself,maybe the story is yet to start and then it ended dot 2hours or less . A little of Las Vegas casino , train stunts, wooden farmhouse , locating the lost mobile phone, deserted railway stations, bun and fork dance, shootout in the rain, then a super dive from the cliff to find his Spanish Love. The Earth was not the right place for love. N Yes (or C in Spanish), finally the happy reunion underwater. they live loving each other underwater perhaps in the Titanic ruins i believe singing in Spanish,'Hum Banae Tum Banae Ek Duje ke Liye.'..

Outcome : Learnt a few Spanish words for the day paying Rs.150. :).

I was seated at my bay . The beach looks appealingly gorgeous from the tenth floor.The seashore was calm, yet the waves as if compelled to reach the finishing point at the shore. Which of course was an imaginary line proportional to the speed of the waves. Neah ! am not for Physics for the moment. A flash of thought and I dive into my past.

A close friend this time whom I knew well. Very well. The waves started to race because of the influence of the wind. My thoughts suddenly take a halt to many a questions. Why did she fall in love and never realized? She valued his friendship more than anything and never ever offended him? He came like a breeze and brought a package of unconditional love and care( as it initially seemed) . Later he blew the very essence of faith, trust and love in a way that she was left speechless,shattered and lost. He had used her innocence and goodness for his own benefits and once saturated he let go of her humiliating her . Perhaps she never wanted to think beyond,even though the spur of feeling ignited within. Until its was too late and he showed his ruthless character. It was destined.

The other day, I felt upon speaking to her that she has moved on to be a courageous and bold girl with high self-respect and faith in God. But I also knew that deep inside she finds a daunting question, as to why her best friend turned a black sheep. She has never ever been the same with anyone but I know that deep inside she says.-' I shall never be able to hate you coz I have come a long way for the better.Thanks for being harsh and begone..'

Well, all is for the good. The waves calmed again. I resumed my work with a smile of content.

Justice still in bleak..

Sexual harassment is no more a subject of ‘taboo’ in the Indian society. The number of victims has only increased despite the laws and security measures granted to women.
Ruchika’s case has once again put up the question- 16 years of trial and was it worth having given 6 month sentence and a thousand rupees. Such a verdict could have been done without. Ruchika Girhotra suffered the pain of the harassment, when stood up to voice a complaint, she was all the more shattered and humiliated. Political power and high profile supported the culprit to bring harm to her and her family. She was expelled from school on baseless grounds and was left to shame and guilt. Her brother Anshu was not spared either and was put behind bars and was beaten up ruthlessly. She dragged on her misery for a year or two and then put end to the misery. Sixteen years of a father’s fight for justice did make a light of hope fall. Not much to compensate the loss he and his children suffered. Justice is still a servant to the rich and the influential class. Ruchika had been a bright student with a dream of making a mark in the game she loved playing. But the uncouth and demeaning act of a high rank police officer put an end to her plight to survive to seek justice.

Justice calls for proof. Proof is always manipulated and bought for priceless amounts. No wonder it has always been called ‘Andhha Kanoon’. The cry for justice will not stop there. S P S Rathore seems smiling now but then perhaps his shameless good days would be numbered. The country and the citizens should not stand silent anymore.

Redefining LOVE

What is love? I know it is the most common question that one hits upon. It is quite strange but a fact that the definition keeps on refining with each stage in life that we move on. I myself am no exception. Having tested many waters down the ages, we do come across many shades of love. Perhaps am still in my path of understanding the whole funda. Of late, I have become very practical which was not my nature some time back. The experiences in life would be the cause I say. Love for me involves understanding, freedom as in thought and deed and being bold given a situation with a little tinch of compassion. I have seen people getting insecure and emotionally dependent but then I feel out of the box. Yes, I do feel a sense of belongingness but more is the sense of responsibility and growth as an individual. It is more to do with patience and keeping a cool. More to becoming a listener and going by the mind than heart at all times.

When the seed of expectation from others dies the very moment it is put to sprout, what is the best way out? Let go and let your worries free. Love does not die but it rather remain pure and unexpressed. That’s the best way.

Death is Inevitable

The very word raises a lot of questions. The word ‘death’ casts a gloom in one’s mind. A smile gets overshadowed by a serious expression.

I was checking my mailbox for the daily knowledge messages. I usually select a topic that draws my attention and reserving it to be read during my spare time. The day begun on a gloomy note wherein my heart was kindaff heavy with bizarre thoughts, making irrational speculations of my future. I believe my room as been a peaceful recluse during such mood swings. This time the topic was, ’10 points about Death’. What better would have chosen when already dull, I thought? I saved it for the evening Gyaan time.

That’s when I hear that Dadaji’s health is deteriorating and that the doctor has forwarded his case to the Supreme Power up there. He had been ill for quite some time. Nothing serious, except that at 87 perhaps it was getting tougher to recoup the lost energy as before. It seems he expresses his helplessness and a desire to leave to God’s abode. A little water or a spoon of health drink suffices his daily need. Sleep seems an illusion and restlessness the call of the hour. When the preparation for my wedding is gaining more momentum a thought of his painful struggle each day makes me feel low. Perhaps its all in God’s hands as all say.

I just read the article on ‘Death’. Quite situational I say. When all fear an ill-omen and resort to sincere prayers for something peaceful, I see the pain he is going through each breath. As written in the ‘Bhagwath Geeta’- ‘Sambhavaami Yugae Yugae’,so be it God's will and blessing.

Feels Blissful amidst Chaos

At times we are left blank, puzzled and in disbelief.

There are moments when I see myself in the dessert going astray. Totally windy and the scorching heat making my limbs whimper in pain, stopping me to go any further. I would resort to closing my eyes and calling to God and recalling the positive strokes by way of words given by my friends. All through my life, I have been preaching and practicing the value of friendship. Friends are indeed a treasure of my life.

Apologies,anger, worries, happiness can best be shared with these special genre whom we call friends. Not all of course. Just a few who read our minds in no time and mend our ways promptly. It is not necessary that we share our entire book of life with each other and then decide if they are to be trusted. With experience and guided instincts, it just clicks and friendship blooms in no time. Once a friend, shall always be so. Do I sound filmy as in, ‘Yeh dosti hum nahin todenge..’ or ‘Yaaron dosti, yehi zindagi hai'..types…

It was a pleasant surprise. Or rather a note that time moves on so swiftly. Memories get faded away in the midst of priorities. She smiled. Dono why?

But somewhere within the bud of liking and well wishing does exist. Past cannot be mended nor repaid for. It was meant to happen and it just happened. A mistake not intentional because the heart knows not what is wrong. It just longs for happiness, love and peace. Even though if it’s mystic and a temporary paradise, one fails to accept the worst to come and pays no heed to the mind. Forget the intellect. It was perhaps the wonderful phase which was cherubic, innocent and filled with gratitude for having blessed her with care or utmost care. Gradually, as seasons change so does circumstances, and so did the gates open. She ventured into the world with pain, stumbled upon hardships with no familiar voice to pacify her anymore. She was never the same. Perhaps, she had great guts to accept that she had not done any mistake. It was sacred and pure and undemanding for which the return was like the bolt from the blue. Perhaps that’s what happens when one fails to speak out their heart at the intended time. Yup! She never forgot the dream shown to her and worked day and night to get on track.

Haath Chhute bhi to rishte nahi chuuta kaarte..by Jagjit Singh often brings forth her story. Love is not possessing always. Perhaps its about keeping the faith of love and self-respect intact. Not proving it but living each moment with the belief that she will make a mark before she leaves the world. Even if the string that struck the cord is lost forever. She has hated none. She just elated the dais a little higher and then things went haywire. More about her, then its like seeing a hurdle race with just one runner ,smiling on to reach the finish mark someday.

She is all set to embark on a new role. everyone’s happy about. She was tracing the string when she came by good news. She smiled. A fairy called ‘fame’ adds on to the cord. A sparkle of light in her eyes which expressed her heartfelt blessings. As always..

Dil se khush raho..thats happiness

Happiness is a state of mind that we alone can measure. Mein khush hun…this is not merely a statement. This shows the unruffled state of mind and soul that is at ease and weaving positive thoughts of success and fame. Upon touching my heart, one would often tell..well, not that am not happy but then things would have seemed brighter if I had that. “That” can be interpreted in many ways, whether it be emotional or materialistic embellishments.

For a hard core professional workaholic person, being idle is like being a helpless victim of fate and time.

Experience and statistics show 2 varied situations. In a predominant number of cases, the phase of depression is surmounted by procrastination and deteriorating health conditions. There are other confident category of people who keep on trying and even give in to changes reluctantly though. But the second genre of flexible go-getters often stays put and pleasant with insignificant ripples of mood swings to the negative bend.

Khushi to ek ehsaas hai jo humaare zehen se aati hai, it is not which appears like a creamy layer to be flaunted to the world. Happiness from within has a stronger impact than mere show-off which is short-lived and takes a lot of effort as well.

So whenever you profess to be happy, ensure that its from within than being left without.

A beautiful moment so real and happening. I was living the moment. Not until all started seeming so blurred and far beyond sight. Feeling the cold of the floor, I open my eyes to realize that my oblivion feel had brought me down to earth- with a THUD. A few minutes to take hold of the situation and the very next minute I spring up to grab on to my mobile. How silly and childish? Searching stealthily in my mobile inbox was indeed effortless; rather to reinstate the statement that it was another dream. A pleasant smile swished across my face. All is well out at the other end, I believe. I curled back to sleep, while carefully maneuvering my agonizing back to a comfortable position.

Guru Poornima-A day of the Devotees

Celebrating the essence and the presence of ‘The Devine’ in our life.. Celebrating the grace and blessings showered in our life..

Rejoicing by tuning in to the melody of Satsang.. Rejoicing in meditation and offering gratitude through sacred chants..

Smiling and warding off all worries and fear.. Smiling and surrendering to the blissful aura of our Gurudev..

An experience to cherish, an opportunity sure not to miss,I say. The evening on the eve of Guru Poornima started with devotional bhajans praising Lord Shiva, Durga mata, Krishna and not to forget the beloved Lord Ganesha.

The devotees were equal participants along with the lead singers and the orchaestra. Enthusiasm and happiness was as though forming waves, to reach out high to Guruji. Guruji ‘s photograph was all in décor, in his charismatic smile, fresh garlands teaming up all through the programme. The devotees love is much more than the flowers offered in love and respect.

It was as though Guruji was right there even though unseen, smiling, singing and dancing with each one of us. There was oneness all around. I just closed my eyes and became a part. Music was in the air, in the mind, in the heart. Music that brought everyone together! Music that evoked happiness and smile!

Followed by Gurupuja through chanting .This symbolized the true vedic chants to praise our Guru. The moon meditation was unbelievable. It was as though I was taking a walk in the clouds on a full moon night. Moonlight was my torchbearer and the twinkling stars welcomed me to the celestial abode. Even though it was getting a bit strenuous for my legs sitting squatted, I felt the pain vanish to the experience so pure and graceful. I was blessed and smiled.

A knowledge tape was played where Guruji answered to many questions of the devotees seated quite calm and cool. Relaxed and smiling while he explained. An evening full of gratitude and fun with satsang left everyone in high spirits and the ‘prashad’ to mark a pleasant depart for one and all.

Indian Politics stole the stardom off the IPL bandwagon. Where on one hand, there are the big Bollywood stars cheering and promoting their respective teams -whether it be Vijay Mallaya or King Khan and not to forget the sizzling Shilpa Shetty and Preity Zinta. So what if you do not find them on the Big Screen. You definitely see them on the small screen ‘cricketing’ with ‘cheer girls to add some spice or let me correct, to ‘cheer the team’ as put forth. The fame and gossips remain undeterred. This time Deccan Chargers had indeed charged up better and won the trophy. So the Showdom’s off for a while from IPL. South African Tourism had definitely grabbed much more attention! Good holidaying under the pretext of some good strokes of little bit of ‘honest game’.

The recent elections brought in a bunch of surprises, is not it? Jaya Prada, Priya Dutt and Shekar Suman , singer Hans Raaj Hans and even a lot other young contenders hailing from different professional fields. There is fame, power and some say that they have a passion to run a good government for the people of India, ‘the honest way’. Well that again is left to time. The present UPA government under the flagship of the Congress has a better vision for the progress of India. They promise a better government by way of entrusting single portfolios to its newly appointed cabinet ministers does seem a novel implementation. There seems disagreement with regard to portfolio allocation with DMK. Where Mamta Bannerjee seems walking on Cloud 9 having being given ‘Railways’ as her region of rein, Karunanidhi expects a bigger and much creamy share for his party and people in the present cabinet. Its UPA shining anyways..

Nature Communicates...

Finding some peace and calm, nestled in Nature is what I would have wished when I set for my home.

Palghat, as the name suggests, is surrounded by many small hillocks strewn with coconut trees and even the tall palms. On quite a few situations that get to freak out there. The longest was for 3 days to attend a festival at the temple personifying Lord Ayyappa last December.

A break from my role as a full time writer, I know for sure that this is the time when I can make the maximum time to read and just be at peace within.

Am done with two books by Guruji (Sri Sri Ravishankar) and quite content that my questions are being answered quite clearly and it is of course left to me to put the words to actions than let go.

I was seated near the porch when I happened to see a Hibiscus flower blooming to glory. A flash of thought came by. A flower has life and does grow each stage the moment it opens up from the enclosed bud shape. It stands brave at instances when the scorching Sun’s rays shrivels it up or the severity of rain bends or droops its stem. Every flower has its own span and by no chance does it fall back in the cycle of growth. Why I mentioned this random thought is perhaps because it answered a worry boggling my mind these days. I have struggled through many hardships in life and my career has also improved. The reason for the delay is to put me on to the next big chapter that helps me pave a better life both career wise and personally.

Patience and prayers and regular Kriya and being on the spiritual path will help me cross this phase in life. Got loads to achieve and even loads to serve the society through my power of words.

At times as they say the words written may be best communicated through the beauties of Nature. So I feel the blissful aura of happiness and hope all around me even when my small mind juggles the worldly worries onto me to put me down.

Patience, there is no alternate for the same..

When the going goes tough, stay strong and focused..
I see all around me going up the ladder of success, I feel far left behind. Then I change my thought.

Stagnation has occurred and now is the healing phase. The Knowledge Sheets that I read gives a lot of relief. These days will pass by and better days will come.
I smile my days as they come.

I read that boredom is a good sigh that actually paves way to a beneficial change. A confirmed growth that is going to be a stepping stone to greater success. So be it..

My long Awaited Companion

It is a time to rejoice.

It is a time to feel that I have achieved.

It is a time to feel blessed.

It is the right time when a companion has entered my life.

It had once been a far fetched dream.

It was once a thing of luxury.

Seemed like an unapproachable thing in this lifetime.

Now its mine.

Thanks to God, my family and my well wishers who helped me achieve this happiness.

I take the pride because I bought it myself. Feels great and as in being in paradise.

This is also a moment where I thank the Divine source whose probable presence in the city for a while did do wonders.

Eighth grade and you better be serious. Not a child’s play. Two years from now and it is the first board exam. God!

The lists of forbidden things were quite a lot. First of all, my usual allotted time to watch television. Am speaking of those yester years when the channels could be easily counted on fingers. I remember, the channel named Star Movies was made available for our viewing by the local cable T.V operator. But then , as the word spread by the gossip makers, it did reach the silent studious bookworms like me and my group.

As girls at school, the first feeling was like how can we see the movies (with parents). If you hail from a partially introvert family wherein it is thumbs up if you see Ramayana and Mahabharata and The Sword of Tipu Sultan (would watch it for Sanjay Khan, a handsome actor of his times) or say some healthy serials, Its thumbs deep down for watching anything that shows skin show or displeasing seductive moves, music channels the main target. Even if you happen to see a song sequence picturised in the rain, that’s it!! Switch off or change to some other ‘clean’ channel. It was never told and then it was practiced unpretentiously. Quite a general trend in the mid 80’s and further, I believe.

Star Movies and I remember Hallmark, yes, these were the two phirangi channels available. I still remember that very evening. It was a chill winter evening. My parents had gone to visit someone. Yeh ! Dad’s close associate cum our family friend Menon uncle had broken his leg and was discharged that day. They had gone to see him.

I was all alone, enjoying my space at home. The fear of the forthcoming exams was dwelling within my mind, but the temptation to watch television (more specifc, what I wished to see) was propelling my thought. Well, just an hour and not that I see always, I pacified myself.

I was switching channels when I fell upon the much controversial channel of our classroom talks, Star Movies. A movie was about to begin. In those days one good thing was there would be a age slot mentioned for any particular movie and a hologram would be shown right on the top right-hand all through the movie. Quite safe for parents to judge what is best for children. The television being securely positioned in my parents’ room, I had no option to wait for such days when I would be happily staying back at home. Not an opportunist but then once a while it feels so free. I usually explore Discovery channels to explore the world beyond my home, my town, my country. Well, that day I wanted to watch an English movie. The first English movie.

It could be watched by me as the hologram qualified . I kept track of the time. One hour from now and they would return. Or perhaps early. I had to divide my attention both ways. Whether my dad’s scooter was blaring the unique horn from a distance implying his return! Because a slight delay in opening the main gate and I will be caught. I would escape the severity with some subtle statements. She’ll know what I would have been doing. She is my mom!

The movie was about a young beautiful girl who lived with her mom and he little sister. Set in the backdrop of a big church and a lot of green pastures in the backyard. She wanted to become a nun. But then, once she got acquainted with a guy who worked for the Church. He was a cute looking, simple chap who would do the menial jobs and took care of the church. He was a happy guy who made a simple and honest living. Now, our lady was getting interested in him but then she would resist her desires with all might, because she was to become a nun. Then the story moves on when she knows that her very mom was trying to flirt with this very guy. So as usual, anger, hatred, emotion and bit of impulsive or intense scenes, realization of immature mistakes then it’s a happy ending. She gets back to a college life and enjoys her life without any inclination to become a nun. Well, I felt great because I could see the entire movie before my parents returned.

The nest day, I narrated the entire story to my best friend. She was like, had it been a typical Bollywood movie, the two would have been married. We were so damn stupid that never did we realize that it was just characters they play. For a week, the fever of the cute looking chap and the beautiful girl remained.

Anything for the first time in life leaves a significant note. I often associate with that very character, perhaps all the more now. Life is about growing at each stage. A person who in her teens has a cherubic way of looking at things. Later when the apprehension clears, she learns and grows. A girl in her teens turns to a woman of substance and confidence.

It has been more than a decade now but the innocence of the character of the movie still seems fresh in mind.

The World is surely a small place. Time flies and experiences with people, places, oneself gets pooling in.

It has been 5 years ever since I have left the college doorsteps. Leaving behind a handful of dusty grievances and moving on with the memory of the treasured fun times with friends. All go diverse ways to pursue a career of their own and then after a gap of a few years, slowly, friends return with a bundle of surprises and an explicit story. Some happily married and some put up at deserving positions associated with big companies.

Feels great actually. No comparisons though because the path I chose had been rugged. With slight solace when the work’s going fine and when it is going topsy-turvy, we all know what’s the best option.

Anyways, I feel I can actually pen down the little episodes from my life so far, interesting people, annoying moments, desperate moves and so on. Will keep it on. Smiling Dewdrops making its way for the big Ocean..

At times people end up writing a poem when at the zenith of depression or perhaps when feeling dull about anything or everything. It turns out to be a rhyming poem,to some extent.

Once put to words, the severity of the bogging thought disappears and alas! you get the answer to the questions . Like this one ...

Long time back I read an article that I recall now. Let me give a gist of the incident . There was this tree somewhat of the size of a huge banyan tree. To an onlooker it was far from pleasant yet it stood bold and firm, standing out huge and wide in the whole area. The grand dad among all others it was with an eerie aura encompassing it.

A group of 20 could very well get the shade from the scorching Sun and the unpredictable torrential rains. African jungles, so no wild guesses required as such. People out there have nothing to do with the outer world that’s beyond the boundaries of the jungle. Perchance an aeroplane should fly that way, that’s it! You see them running hither-thither or the courageous ones throwing arrows to flaunt a warrior’s spirit. Just in vain because the arrow gets stuck in a tree trunk or retrieves it plight and hurts one among them instead. Humorous as it sounds to us, yet painful to them.

It so happened that there was an outbreak of cholera in that region and people started dying. Since doctors’ were infamous and out of question in the deep jungles, the tribal people did believe a lot in witchcrafts. They were told that the only strange thing in that locality was the ‘grandpa’ tree. It did nothing good but stood ugly, elephantine and creepy. Majority agreed and the outcome we would imagine is that they might have cut down the tree.

Well, it was not the case here. They did not even touch the tree and it died within a week’s time. The tribe members had made a big circle around the helpless tree and would hail out abusive words for a long time. They did this repeatedly for many days and the tree lost all its leaves, the branches dried up and its skeleton stood gazing onto the sky. The healing rain showers also tried to bring it back to life but then sobbed in vain. The tree died an abusive death because of the harsh words thrown upon it. But then was the problem solved?

No. An aged man called up a meeting. He was grief stricken and told the tribe that they have done a bigger sin. The disease was because of the contaminated water they had been drinking from a nearby well. The age old tree that stood with pride and gave them shelter was no more. Nothing could bring it back.

The pondering incidence made me blink! If the use of harsh words can have a pathetic affect on a tree, then what about humans? As human beings, can anyone just count how many a times have we been hard with words or rude to someone who really cares for us. For no specific reason at all? Be it our parents, our siblings or very close pals. This has been an age-old practice has been passing on down the generation.

Good words and happy thoughts will always spread peace and prosperity! Even a negative word that we speak does leave a deep impression that keeps on piling up. It is not late to keep watch of the words we tell others. Some words register deep and affects more aggressively and intensely. A silent killer in a way!

The Rendezvous

‘Extra Cheese topping Please!’, and I give away the menu-card. I had a couple of hours more to go, or rather just two to be specific. The dilemma was making me all the more skeptical about the decision.

Wisely said that one should learn the art of saying ‘No’ in a way that seems offending to the person concerned. I did give it a try at various instances. The outcome, however was not as expected. The pizza was brought within minutes. Shredded cheese was actually tempting. I made a start keeping aside all worries. Its pizza time!

The last piece was the best, more because origami and chilli flakes garnish had spread evenly on the cheese crust. That was a good lunch, I thought. Having settled the bills, I made up my mind to go for it. I made a call to confirm the time of appointment. I had to be there within an hour. Hardly did I have any time to fresh up for a seemingly enthusiastic image.

After a scrutinizing security-check, I was let in. The recent terrorist attacks have intensified the security measures. I inquired for Mr. Jerrad at the reception. I was told that he would meet me at the coffee shop in 10 minutes. I was directed the way to the coffee shop. Advertising world is full of creative stirs and ideas. Ad men are full of ideas and are known to perceive things from where a normal human being stops thinking. This does not imply tagging them crazy but being observant to the minute day to day affairs. A lid of a can or a needle or a rusty hand pump, anything and everything can spark a coherent idea for an advertisement.

Mr. Jerrad was a distinct name in the Advertising world; you could easily pass him for a celebrity. With 15 years of experience and a galore of ad knowledge that he carried would qualify him for ad guru. Name any book on ad or marketing and you get to hear the summary from him. I got the privilege to work under him during the initial years of my career. Indeed a privilege I say.

Known for his punctuality, he came in and waved a smiled together with an affirmative hand shake. He was very informal. Indeed pleased upon meeting me after a long time. We interacted for an hour. It was to finalize the ad shoot. The shoot was scheduled for the coming week and everything was to be finalized with his approval.

Knowing the perfectionist attitude he mastered, I was chosen to meet him. Not that I was in a better position but then I could easily get to his wavelength. Everything was well discussed. He was quite satisfied with the arrangements. A nod and the rest assured.

‘Schedule the shoot with prompt details. Wanna have a Pizza, still your favorite I believe!’ This was a sudden and surprising statement. He does remember despite having met after ages. Since I was already stuffed till my mouth as it was my evening snack, but could not be rude. Finally we settled for fresh juice since I had to leave soon, so did he. So the pizza treat was postponed. He has a sharp memory I thought and smiled my way back.
