Doing The Gwiyomi Moves

After the Gangnam Style craze, now comes another South Korean dance moves called Gwiyomi. According to Wikipedia, "Gwiyomi" or "Kiyomi" is Korean slang used to refer to a cute person. The lyrics of the song can be interpreted as "1 + 1 = Cutie, 2 + 2 = Cutie", etc.

Gwiyomi (귀요미) is based on the adjective "gwiyo-un" (귀여운), which means cute. Gwiyo captures the meaning of cuteness, and "-un"is a form of conjugation to be altered for each intended usage. Ending an adjective with "-mi" (-미) has the effect of personifying the adjective, thereby turning the word into a noun. Thus "gwiyomi" means a cute person.

The Gwiyomi Song is a K-pop single by South Korean singer Hari and was released on February 18, 2013. It was inspired by a gesture from K-pop idol rapper Jung Il Hoon called Gwiyomi Player, which became an Internet meme in October 2012 following its appearance on the variety show, BToB MTV DiaryMany.

If you haven't yet joined the craze, maybe this Gwiyomi dance guide will inspire you to try it out but these steps are easier to pull off if you're already cute so proceed with caution otherwise be ready to become the subject of ridicule if you're not, hehehe ..... just kidding! ;-)

Epic TV Week : The Walking Dead 3 Finale Vs Game of Thrones 3 Premiere

This week was truly an epic week for TV viewing. My two favorite tv series was on for a showdown, Walking Dead Season 3 aired its final episode while Game of Thrones Season 3 is making its premiere.

I have to watch ahead of the Philippine airing and as always had to source it online as soon as its up.

My thoughts after watching :

There were many kills and one sad goodbye in TWD finale but none that broke my heart. Can't wait for Season 4 and lets see if the governor is still capable of retaliation.
While walkers' massacre took place in TWD, white walkers are getting ready to inhabit GOT.
GOT is a visual feast of medieval proportion, what's not to love, just hearing the names Lanister, Daenerys, Starks etc. already gets me excited, so bring on the GAME.

The Walking Dead Finale will air this Saturday here, 8:30 at Fox Channel while Game of Thrones Season 3 will premiere this April 2013 at HBO.

Unboxing My First BDJ Box

What's a BDJ Box, you might ask?

BDJ means Belle De Jour, a box containing beauty products which you will receive once you become a subscriber. Subscription comes with a fee and you can choose among the many affordable packages they offer. The nice thing about BDJ is that they have a 1 month subscription which I picked since I just wanted to try the service, unlike the other beauty boxes on the market which normally require a minimum of 3 months subscription. Here, you have totally no idea what the contents of your box gonna are and that's what makes it more exciting.

Well, let's check out what's on the inside of the March BDJ Box. Was my 480 pesos worth it? Let's see...

Actually, if you sum up the cost of each item, the total amount would be around 1,500 pesos.

But the question now is, do I find anything that I might actually find useful?

Well, one product that I'm really happy about is the L'oreal UV Perfect Sun protection because I just run out of face sun block which is a staple skin care for me and this came just right in time. It's perfect that its SPF 50 and blends well with my skin tone.

Loreal UV Perfect Longlasting UV Protector (PhP 545)

The next items worth trying are the Anti Hair Fall L'oreal Shampoo and Conditioner. I actually had to cut my long curly locks because I'm getting more hair falls than the usual. I'm alternating this with my regular shampoo and conditioner.

I'm now having less hair fall but I'm not sure if it's because of this L'oreal products or because my hair is now a little shorter and straighter. Well, I'll have to figure this out later.

Shine Caresse, Chic Rouge 6ml (PhP 595)

This is Shine Caresse in Chic Rouge shade, a lip stain that has a glossy finish, quite unique in that manner. Its not as long lasting as the other brands I tried but the plus point is that it's not sticky and doesn't make your lips look dry. I use it once in a while because I'm not used to wearing orange colored lipstick.

Loreal UV Perfect BB Max / Youth Code Pre Essence

These are the only two items of sample size, the rest are all full size. I'm not really a fan of BB creams so I'm giving this to my sister and the other tube which is an anti aging skin care product called Youth Code Pre Essence is something worth trying. Let's see if what it's claiming is really true.

Color Riche Les Nail Art (PhP 395)

This item is interesting in the sense that now I have a chance to do nail art for my low maintenance nails. My fingernails are really soft, bends easily when it's longer than my fingertips that's why I always trim them to the tips. Putting this on is a challenge but it's actually very easy and no fuss. Well, I think this nail art gave my nails a bit of a character instead of the usual boring look. It definitely will look better on longer nails but I'm liking it.

Well, it looked a bit rough but since it's my first time putting this on, maybe you can tolerate this for now ;-) . Another thing, the nail stickers lasted for almost a week which is a good thing afterwards they started peeling off, but I'm really glad I don't have to use acetone to remove them :-). I'm actually considering buying other designs, something to put on for special occasions.

Was my 480 pesos worth it? YES, definitely!!!

The list of winners have already been revealed and I'm glad I've seen most of them and if I have to make my own list of winners on my own standards of a good movie, hmmm I'm no PRO not even a little but I love watching movies that inspire, make me laugh, and those that provide intense feelings that puts me at the edge of my seat, that's why I'd like to share my choices and my primary criteria are as follows:

- it must be compelling
- there must be a sense of redemption at the end
- a triumphant feeling that can move me to tears

Having said that, rounding it to 4, my nominees for Best Picture would be :

1. ARGO
2. LIFE OF PI
3. LINCOLN
4. ZERO DARK THIRTY

With ARGO taking home the Shie's Asylum Award. Yes, I'm in 100% agreement with the OSCARS. You will really root for ARGO once you've seen it.

My Best Actor award, hands down goes to Daniel Day Lewis as LINCOLN. I can't even name someone as second close or a distant second. While watching the movie, I didn't see Mr Lewis only Abraham LINCOLN, He's really that excellent. I adore this actor.

While Jennifer Lawrence has got that acting spunk and is very likable, for Best Actress, I'm leaning towards Jessica Chastain for the movie Zero Dark Thirty and Naomi Watts for The Impossible as second close. Silver Linings is a fun movie to watch and I love the actors that excellently played their parts but I don't feel that it is of the same level as the other nominated films.

For Best Supporting Actor, Christopher Waltz (Django Unchained) highly deserves the award and Alan Arkin (Argo) as distant second.

I think Anne Hathaway gave a very compelling performance as Fantine for the movie Les Miserables and deserves the Best Supporting Actress award but I've yet to see Amy Adams in The Master.

For Best Director, its a toss between Ang Lee of Life of Pi and Ben Affleck for Argo. Well, its Ang Lee who won, I think he deserves it. Although,I wonder why they didn't include Ben Affleck among the nominees, in my book he could've won too!

There it goes, my short list ..........I suggest catch them if you have time ;-)

DIY INSTAGRAM Wall

Taking pictures is one hobby I won't get tired doing and as such had me accumulated tons of photos that mostly were just stored in my usb, hard drive, memory cards, etc. Gone are the days when we have our film printed by our favorite film developer to be able to appreciate our photos. Everything now is digital and we can view them, share them and print them with just one click.

Well, I found a best way to make use of some of those photos I've taken, while being inspired by the current photo sharing craze INSTAGRAM .... I made an Instagram wall in my room :-)

The materials I used can be found in all school and office supplies shops.

Materials I used

A foam board to mount your photos (I use kelly's art) , a sharp cutter, a ruler and an adhesive photo paper. It is best to look for acid free materials.

Of course you need a colored printer, mine is a Canon MP258 and it runs in Continuous Ink System so I can print a lot of photos at the least cost.

You can choose the square size you prefer for your photos, I cut mine at 5 in x 5 in.

Please use a new blade for your cutter for a more precised cutting, replaced it when its no longer gliding easily when cutting. Layout your photos on an A4 size adhesive photo paper, 2 photos with a fixed size of 5 square inches can fit in one A4 size sheet. Print your photos, cut your boards and photos accordingly then remove the backing of the adhesive photo paper and smooth them out thoroughly to the foam boards. Once done, lay it out on your desired wall.

I use a double adhesive tape to mount these photo boards on my wall.

That's it, an Instagram wall in my room! :-)

Collecting Ferrari Lego from Shell

I've been collecting Ferrari items from Shell everytime they have a promo. But I got particularly interested with these Ferrari Lego because of that element of fun that goes with assembling them.

I bought this for 180 pesos when I filled up with 1,500 pesos worth of Shell Unleaded Gasoline, it's cheaper by 30 pesos if you use Shell V Power Gasoline. There's a pamphlet showing the step by step instructions of putting them together. I timed myself and it took me 34 mins to finish the assembly, kinda long, a bit rusty, I guess. I think I can do better next time. Anyway, here it is, I totally enjoyed the process and the finished product. There are 5 more models to complete the collection. I got to have them all.

Do It Yourself Personal Cards

Its been 2 months since I changed contact numbers and every time I'm meeting a business client, I'm reminded the urgent need to replace my existing business card. It just looks so unprofessional giving them a card with erasures.

As always I take pleasure in creating the card myself during my free time. I ended up doing 6 layouts and now I can't make up my mind which one to choose and make copies. My sisters are not much of help since they have different choices, so I'm thinking should I just go with my initial preference? Hmmm, what do you think?

My initial concept was just to make something simple but looks sweet and this is what I came up with. Until one friend kidded me it was Kris Aquino inspired, hahaha ... that prompted me to do another one.

Which Card Layout Appeals to you Most?

If I have to name a hobby or a skill that I'd like to take to the next level that would be photography and such was my objective when I planned to give my cousin who happens to be my godchild as well, a photoshoot to highlight her entrance to womanhood. I thought of it as a perfect 18th birthday present.

Armed with some skills acquired from my online readings and some practice, I know I can pull this through like a real "pro" I wish ;).

There's a saying that your best camera is the one you have with you. I always put that in mind when taking a shot, be it my HTC phone or my Nikon DSLR. So even though I'm not fully equipped with the perfect cam and the right lens and the most up to date accessories, I know I have to make the most of what I have. My limited and basic but trusty gadgets include my 3yr old Nikon D5000, my 35mm f/1.8 lens and my 5 in 1 reflector and then I psyche myself to shoot like a pro and work around my limitations. Well, I definitely need an assistant who'll glady do it in exchange of a BonChon meal, our future photographer, my nephew Kheil ;)

what made it possible

The silver reflector did the trick of putting in a glowing light despite the very cloudy and gloomy weather and I'm glad we were able to take enough shots before the rain fell hard on us. There was supposed to be one more outfit change in some part of these historic university but then we were already soak and wet. I would have considered taking shots with rain on the background, that certainly will bring in the dramatic effect but my camera is not protected to withstand such but yeah I'll have to take note of that next time and prepare my cam for these kinds of circumstances.

Well, I think I did good for an amateur :)) This practice did really point me to areas I need to improve next time around.

Those were some of the inspiring lines from my favorite film, DEAD POETS SOCIETY. To this day, I still love watching and savoring the lines and the message of this movie, to always seize the day, to always strive to find our own voice and make our lives extraordinary before its too late. Inspiring words that mean let's make our lives our masterpiece.

Find our passion. Our life is our art. Our heart is our paintbrush and the entire universe is our canvas. It's not what you do that matters, it's how you do it and the difference that it makes.

Fifty Shades of Christian Grey

It's a trilogy book written by a first time writer, EL James gaining unprecedented readership and I totally understand why these novels are selling like hotcakes. I got my hands on these after hearing a lot of ladies going gaga over Christian Grey. Curiosity got the best of me since I'm not really a fan of reading romance books, much more with an erotic theme. My taste goes from Robin Cook to Robert Ludlum to John Grisham and sometimes Nicholas Sparks.

I'm halfway the second book, Fifty Shades Darker, after 2 weeks and that means it's taking me long to finish. Well, I'm really put off by too much erotic scenes happening page after page, it's quite repetitive and sometimes comical. I actually skipped some parts, finding it unnecessary and so unreal and those exchanges of lines by Anastasia and Christian are so cheesy, makes me want to puke.

It's kinky, it's graphic, a fairy tale with an x rated tone. But yes, like most ladies, I'm smitten with Christian Grey, the idea of that vulnerable man, fifty shades fucked up but gorgeous looking, brilliant and highly successful man is what most women out there find attractive. The thought that you can make him change and live happily ever after is a foolproof formula to make every girls swoon. And just like Anastasia, I'd try to hold on to some extent even if it entails getting hurt in the process just to see how far it would take for Christian Grey to come out of the dark and become a changed man.

The title of the third installment is already a giveaway of how this story will fold up. I'll probably continue my reading but Fifty Shades Freed sounds happily ever after and I'm already hearing all those giggles from mommies, grannies and ladies in waiting, no teens please, lining up for the movie's release. I might watch it if ever and hoping the movie version will be a lot more tolerable ;).

CJ CORONA, CONVICTED but not proven GUILTY

We just witnessed history as it unfolds right before our eyes! The top magistrate of the land, IMPEACHED for misdeclaration of his SALN??? Convicted but not proven guilty for a crime that was not even an impeachable offense. Sen Joker Arroyo best explains this point.

To quote part of Sen Joker Arroyo's speech “Impeachment is a political process not a political assassination. An impeachment aspires to be a judicial proceeding that makes imperative that it sticks to judicial rules. ....... As much as I want to believe in the fairness of the impeachment court, I knew from day 1, CJ will be convicted because the senator judges deciding his fate are all politicians with their own political agenda to protect except of course for the few good men whose integrity remained intact.

Congrats, Mr President, this is clearly your victory! You are now the most powerful man in the country controlling the Executive, the Legislative and now the Judiciary! Dont screw it. I hope you can now do your job well as no one can stand in your way and please include in your duties uplifting the lives of the common Filipinos, you have neglected them for 2 years but they still adore you. You have made them to believe that by removing CJ Corona, corruption will be eradicated. Well, you have to prove that because I really don't buy that crap. Mr. President, this time you have no more excuses, no more alibis, lead your people to release their SALN's and sign the waiver to open their bank accounts, that's the least you can do if you're really serious about your "DAANG MATUWID".

To the Defense Team most especially Justice Cuevas, hats off to all of you. You've shown wit, brilliance and class and clearly you could've won this case if it was fairly judged. Your profession look so good you made me want to go back to school and study law.

To the 3 Senators, who voted for ACQUITTAL, you just proved us that your votes have no price tags. Bravo Senators, may your tribe increase.

Senator Joker Arroyo, some are not taking you seriously because of your first name and your last name but you've always been on the top of my list come election season. Your integrity is unquestionable and admirable and your my epitome of a public servant. I hope God will grant you more fruitful years and more wisdom to share.

Senator Miriam, you may be getting the ire of the many blind followers of Pnoy because you speak the truth and it hit them like lightning. Maybe if you were elected President before, our country would be in a better place right now contrary to what Jim Paredes tweeted. Good luck and God Bless on your appointment as Judge of International Court, you greatly deserve it.

Senator Marcos, I'm really hoping you will run for President because I'll vote for you. Your father may have done some wrong and abused his power but I also believed that your father have done more good for this country than 4 presidents combined. I know you've learned from his mistakes and I don't see vindictiveness in your character.

Thank you Chief Justice Corona, you may have lost this battle but in my book, you're a HERO. You didn't give up despite the pressure, you have been insulted, maligned and cursed but you remain steadfast because your conscience is clear and I know justice will be served in God's time. I will always remember you as the Chief Justice who was removed from office because you went against the will of the Cojuangco clan but paved the way to the return of Hacienda Luisita to where they rightfully belong. You made that happen CJ and that's quite a feat. Get well Sir and God Bless.

Two Thumbs Down to Deal Grocer and Red Mango !!!

Think again before clicking that buy button from Deal Grocer, they just ruined my day together with Red Mango, in Megamall. Just imagine this scenario, you went all the way from Cubao to Megamall, so as to catch up the last day offer of the deal you paid for 2 months ago, spent some gas and parking fee and a few hours of your precious time only to be turned away because you were late by 30 mins!!! Is that what you call "CUSTOMER SERVICE" ?!! The Red Mango staff named Rachel made us wait for some time to clarify with Deal Grocer only to be told, they wont allow it... Guys you just shooed away a paying customer and treated them like a 2nd class citizen, what were you thinking?!!! CONSIDERATION is the word, that coupon deal wasn't for free, we paid for it ahead of time to avail of the promo, it was the last day of the deal, how much would it cost you to provide a little consideration? Wasn't that deal meant to promote the new variant of Red Mango's yogurt? The fine prints read the offer is until 6PM only, oh boy, it was so fine I didn't even notice it. But my point here is, its the last day, by not honoring the voucher because we were 30 mins late what did you guys achieve? Did it make you richer by 200 pesos? I really hope so!!!

Anyway, you don't deserve our patronage, so I'm taking you out from my list. ENSOGO is far more reliable and considerate and White Hat far more delicious.

I for one, have registered to most of these sites, subscribing to their email alerts so as not to miss any great deals these websites have to offer. I think these different groups just started almost simultaneously this last quarter of the year and so far based on my experience, these are the ones offering legit deals that are quite a steal.

A Rain Drenched Night with John Mayer

October 1, 2010 on Mall of Asia grounds, a memorable date with John Mayer while drenched in rain, oh I just love it, sans the umbrellas it could have been a perfect party under the rain if all came with their raincoats/ponchos instead. I admit it was "BITIN" having waited for him10 years to come over and entertain his Pinoy fans but nonetheless it was an awesome night. Hats off and two thumbs up to his musicianship, excellent guitar skills and that raspy sultry voice that makes girl fans scream for more.

Aiza Seguerra opened the show at exactly 8pm, she's good but not much were paying attention 'coz everyone went there for John Mayer and the rain stopped during her set but fans wished her act would end soon so John can came in sooner. It took a while, maybe almost an hour before John finally showed up to a thousands of screaming fans while heavy rains started to pour. Wearing a Motley Cure shirt, jeans and sneakers and armed with two Tagalog words "Kumusta Ka", fans went crazy seeing and hearing John Mayer right before their very eyes. It felt surreal, like a dream come true being a big fan of his music.

Me and my siblings were seated at the Bronze section, not an ideal spot for a die hard Mayer fan, umbrellas were blocking our line of sight, and everyone was standing on their seats, hassle talaga but if I came alone, I'd be seated at the VIP section (yeah right that's 12k, girl!) or probably in the Gold section but since I already promised my siblings I'd pay for the tix, me gotta sacrifice!!! Anyway Mayer promised to be back sooner, I really hope he meant it.

These were the ticket prices by the way, expensive huh :) FYI, VIP and Gold section were sold out while Silver and Bronze were almost full.

Halfway through, the rains started to trickle down, I gave up the umbrellas and almost everyone followed suit, that's when everyone had a blast while soaking wet. We then have a clear view although my digicam in full zoom was already wet but I'm glad it didn't give up on me, still working well.

There were songs that I wished he included in his setlist like Back to You, Neon, St Patrick's Day, Love Song for No One, Friends, Lover or Nothing, Assassin just to name a few.

The show ended on a high note with his encore performance "EDGE of DESIRE". It was a night like no other night. Everyone was still on their seat for sometime hungry for more and hoping John Mayer would show up again for one more song but that was it and we still went home with a big smile on our faces. Please be back soon John Mayer. I really don't care if there's a truth to the rumor that you trashed your presidential suite room in Shangrila just continue to give us good music. You had me at Kumusta Ka, lol ;-)

Curious how I got them?

I've been a regular reader of Femalenetwork.com and a senior girltalker at their FN forum Girltalk though I dont normally join their promos that require extra effort but this promo got my attention coz that eyelash extension looks gorgeous and the promo only requires me to leave a comment on that article and so I did, just one comment! After a week, I checked my email and opened my spam folder and to my surprise got a congratulatory letter from FN and not a spam mail that needed to be trashed. The sunglasses freebie from Canon Pixma was unexpected as well. I was supposed to have my old Canon printer converted to Continuous Ink System and pay 2,300 pesos for the services. I went to Ink Rite to have it done but I was so unhappy with the print quality when I had a print test. Ink Rite said that the problem was the print head coz its 1yr old already, I didn't agree with them since I just printed good quality of 2 A4 size photos to empty my original ink cartridge just before I sent it for CIS conversion. In short, after so much ado, CIS does not go well with photo printing, so I had it removed and just spent the money to buy a new printer. I scouted instead for a new printer and decided to get the Canon Pixma MP258 printer, a 3 in 1 printer that has scanner and copier for 3,195 pesos at PC Gilmore. Surprising enough since the sales personnel at PC Gilmore didn't even mention about this promo, when I opened the printer box at home, it included an envelope that says you can claim your free branded shades by just completing their requirements and have it sent to their main office. Without exerting too much effort, completed the requirements, choose and rank my preferred eye wear then mail it to Canon and after 10 days, I have a new sunglasses sent to my address, the price of which is more expensive than the printer I bought. Isn't that a treat and you have no idea how I love Sunglasses!!!
