Summer is here.. and for the most of us, summer is a time for late night outs. Parties and clubbing, baby!! But late night outs usually mean baggy and dark under eyes. Hate those... don't you? Well, so do I! Let me share you my favorite products in eliminating those problems.

For summer, I've giving you 4 of my favorite eye creams that says bye-bye to those unsightly eye problems.

1. Shu Uemura Red:Juvenus Vitalizing Line-reducing Eye Essence.

The patented Phyto-Red Energy Complex of Amalaki + Pomegranate + Lycopene Capsule 2X helps diminish the first signs of aging. That's definitely for us early 20's to late 30's ladies. Why wait when we're 40's to start using anti-aging cream, right? For me, Red: Juvenus takes only about a week use for me to notice the difference. Although it didn't lighten my eyes as much as I would have wanted but the lines have disappeared sufficiently when used day and night religiously. Although people with severe oily skin condition may find this a bit too moisturizing on the skin. But that isn't always a bad news. This is a miracle in a tube. Not only does it reduce my lines overtime. It works as a primer that instantly fills in my lines for a smoother look. Swiper can attest to the effectivity of this. I usually use this as a primer before I apply my sunblock and undereye concealer. See immediate results (like seconds of use) and notice how velvety smooth your skin is and the lines visibly reduce. Oh and it's for the whole face, too! Isn't that amazing? The amazing cocktail of patented ingredients helps resolve our line dilemmas.

What I love about this magical filler? It works well with my makeup! I can actually use a anti-aging product as a primer! I don't have to wait too long for the product to seep into my skin. I can use my sunscreen immediately prior to my using this product and ensure my sunscreen indeed protect me.

3. Garnier Brightening Eye Roll-On (NOW ONLY Php 199!!)

Oh how do I love this product. It's sincerely affordable and hits all the eye problems instantly. A definite win for woman of all classes. There is no product like this one. The best thing about this product is its draining effects that mimics massage motion that helps reduce the puffiness immediately. I was bawling my eyes out one evening and had an event to attend to the next day. I simply couldn't wake up to a super puffy eyes. I immediately grabbed Garnier Brightening Eye Roll-On and poof! No more puffy eyes. Only heartbreak.. hahaha! Just kidding! :)

4. The Body Shop Nutriganics Smoothing Eye Cream (Php1,195)

Purist out there will definitely love this eye cream. The community trade ingredients of Babassu, Olive Oil, Alove Vera and Organic Sugar Cane that makes a great concoction of organic anti-aging product that all people will love. Especially, the ones who are truly going for a greener and chemical-free life. This is the lastest eye cream that I've been using and I already see good signs. The scent is amazing. It smelled like I just got out of the shower feel. Maybe its the aloe vera. I love that my under eyes looks a lot more supple and less harag looking when I don't get the required 8 hour sleep. Lines may take a bit more time to reduce but I feel this working in a matter of weeks.

My mom was very picky with the products she used. She makes sure that despite the exuberant price tags, she gets what she's paying for. And even if she scrimp on other beauty products she ensures that it works. The products mentioned above are chosen with the same principles I know that many people are on a budget but would not sacrifice quality while some goes for the higher end products a reason of their own.

Nobody can say what's the best since our skin is mostly different from one another. But I do hope that you find here what you've been looking for and I was able to guide you in finding the right eye cream for you.

We, after all, wouldn't want those fine lines and dark under eyes stop us from enjoying this summer!

Urban Woman: A Guide to Makeup Shopping

Here I am confessing it all to you. Learn from my mistakes. Makeups should be fun, it should not break our banks nor should it go just sitting on our vanities left unused from all our non-stop shopping.

I'm doing this because I notice that many of us are literally making mistakes and denting our pockets from excessive shopping. I'm a poster child for that definitely and I feel it should it be my advocate to guide you to the right makeup shopping. After all, with all the products out there, we should have a bit (yes, even just a tad) limit when it comes to spending.

This is also another way for me to.... well, to practice what I preach. Since I myself am having a hard time reigning in my shopaholic madness.

Here are some tips that I thought off as I look at the number of makeups that is left unused on my stash:

1. Make a list. There is nothing like a list to ensure that you will only get what came in for. Looking at beauty counters is like being a little girl in a candy store and believe me when I say that when you have a lot of money, you'll get carried away.

2. Set a budget. I know many of us here can really spend our hard-earned dough for makeup alone. But for students out there who are still spending their allowance (no matter how big it is) should really think of setting a budget. I remember one morning when I told my mom that I was hungry and she replied, "Ayan yang makeup mo. Bat di yan kainin mo?" (There's your makeup, why don't you eat those?). I know she said it jest but it definitely stroke a cord. The exuberant allowance she gave me then wasn't benefiting to be wasted on makeup alone. She gives that to me to ensure that during emergencies, I have my own money.

3. Credit cards isn't really just cards. They make you think that you're not spending anything but you are. You don't want to give the parents heart attack when they receive their billing statements, right?

4. Buy quality over quantity. This is the common occurrence on online shopping. I'm the number onr victim of this from way back. Quality products are dime a dozen in the makeup industry. Quality isn't about the hefty price tags either, you can find them in the least expected places as many of my beauty blogger friends could attest. So don't hoard when you have yet to test the quality of the product you bought. A good product will always find its way to you, believe me.

5. Take a trip... away from the counter. The counter lights can be deceiving and could only show your makeup in literally, the best lights. So try moving away from the yellow lights and on to white lights that will show if you really got the right shade of foundation or liptick.

6. Don't be afraid of sales attendant. I learned early on that getting intimidated by a sales associate leads me to buying the wrong stuff just so i could get away from the store immediately. Tell them politely that you know your way around makeup and could handle yourself. That if should you need them, you will approach them for help. A slight touch on their elbows or arm should do this trick as it delivers you're point. That's my trick anyway.

7. Swatch it. If you're really undecided with what to buy, swatch or re-swatch again the products that caught your fancy. The testers are there for a reason, make sure that you buy what looks good on you. Let those sales lady snide at you, you are their boss at the moment and they can't throw you out the store.

8. Stop the makeup envy. have you ever been a victim of this? I know I was. But it has to stop at some point. I learned that not all lipstick my friend buys will look good on me. If you're really close, you can borrow them. If not, swatch it again at the counter and stroll the mall for an hour before deciding if it really looks good on you. If for more than an hour, you find 3 excuses not to get it. Don't get it. :)

9. Research! Research! Research! Blogs and beauty cosmetic sites are there for a reason, for you to have different opinions of the product you are contemplating on purchasing. Make sure you have the proper knowledge about the product before purchasing them. Are they really right for your skin? Is the price reasonable enough? Will it enhance your beauty? What shades are available.

10. Don't be impulsive. I'm an impulsive shopper. I've been dubbed the panic buyer amongst my friends. I always tell them that I'm not, I'm just decisive. But who am i kidding? I've bought several things that is still left unused on my stash because of this panic buying thing. So take it from me. Don't be hesitant to stroll around the mall before spending that had-earned cash on a blush color that you know you have 3 shades similar to it at home.

A good mantra is always "Do I really need it?". The sad thing is makeups isn't really a need, it's a luxury for us girls to reward ourselves for a week's worth of gruelling overtime or seemingly endless exams. We always feels good with a shopping bag on our hands and new stuff to play with at home. No one can blame us for that. But don't spend beyond your means.

I'm not saying I regret buying those things I've got. God know I don't. But I could have waited. I've come to realize that Rustan's and Watson's isn't going anywhere. And that Online shops are always one click away. My heart need not palpitate every time a new product is on the rise same when my credit card bill arrives.

I sincerely hope that I didn't burst any bubbles here about makeups. This after all is a blog about incurable addiction. LOL. :) Consider this my own disclaimer for being an influence in making you shop like a madman. Hehehe! :)

Bottom line is, makeup should always be fun and not a burden to you and your loved ones. :)

My New Summer Scent is (Be) Delicious!!!

Most of my friends know that I'm not into scents. I usually stick to something I really like and that's what I'm going to buy over and over and over and over again. Scents I stick to are the ever popular Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue for women and Sarah Jessica Parker Lovely. The rest of the scents I use are colognes from Bath and Body Works and Kamiseta. See how simple my taste are in scent? Really in contrast with makeup. But like most Filipinas, I don't leave the house without spraying a few spritz onto my clothes and pulse points.

When I was given a chance to try DKNY Be Delicious Fresh Blossom, it came in an opportune time. This fruity yet tinged with floral notes is the benefiting scent for women this summer that is thickly-laced with El Nino! :) I love the refreshing scent. It's one of the lightest fragrance my skin has experienced and yet it last long! Definitely two basic criteria for to beat the summer heat.

From the first spritz when the scent is raw fruity base is apparent but as it settles on my skin and as the day goes by, the floral or blossom-y scent surfaces and you are left with a summer-intended scent.

The new bottle is inspired by the genre of Pop Art with its comic transformation. DKNY, a brand born in New York, brings us a scent that inspires us to dream of becoming a woman who walks down the streets of the Big Apple and capture the world in our hands and lay it onto our feet. After all, New York as the popular song says is "where dreams are made of."

Literally, a taste.. or should I say, scent, of the big apple is right in our hands and is available in our tropical islands.

However, having an apple-shaped bottle and spritzing in on my skin isn't something that needs getting use to. But that hardly gets in the way of me enjoying this scent. I never felt more in tune with a fragrance. When I took a test on what fragrance is appropriate for us, the results I had leaned towards fruity, citrus-y, crisp scent for the outgoing, friendly, life of the party me. And they were right... I love those kind of scent and DKNY Be Delicious Fresh Blossom fits the bill.

Come to think of it, my best friend in law school, G, wears the Be Delicious (green) for years now and we have the same characteristics. :)

That settles it, we have a new fragrance that we will be buying over and over and over and over again.

Although, I have to get myself another of this 1960's Pop Art era inspired DKNY Be Delicious Fresh Blossom because its a limited edition. Bummer, right?

Be Delicious, how to I love thee?
Let's just say you suffocate on my bag because I simply can't leave you behind.

Product Review: Mineraux Premium Blush in Plum

To continue my review on Mineraux Skin Perfecting Minerals, here I will show you their Premium Blush in Plum.

Mineraux Premium Blush is a very pigmented that only a small amount is enough to achieve that cheery look you want. Personally, I find this blush enough to keep me from looking wash out. I love the high intensity coverage it provides as it assures me that a small pot will last me a long pot. A tap of it on to the cap, swirl my brand spanking new synthetic brush around it and swipe it on to my cheeks. Simple, noh?

At first, I was hesitant to use it but when I lost my ArtDeco HG blush, I realized that I found a good replacement. It's way better because its in mineral form. Even though there may seem to shimmers on it, it does not reflect on any of the pictures I take and it looks au naturelle. Quite a feat with a lot of my blushes that are in mineral form.

Don't be afraid that it may look a bit dark on the pot, this is a blush that will dertainly compliment many skin tones depending on how you control the product. It can even be used as a contour blush if you don't like the taupe or brownish type of bronzers.

In my weeks of using this blush, I've come to a conclusion that the Plum blush attracts adulation from other people. Specifically Jheng, my dear friend and our resident Abubots, who admired my blush when I attended an event with her. We all know that this type of comment coming from Jheng is something that we all should consider. Think of me very flattered when she said how she liked my blush.

As to the lasting power, it is the same with my other mineral blushes lasts as long as 4 to 6 hours depending whether I'm indoors or outdoors.

Plum: Matte plum. Best for medium and fair skin tones.

30g sifter jar (approximate net weight of 10g): Php 650

Blush is such an important part of a make up routine. It provides the color to the cheeks that are highly needed especially for those dark eye makeup such as smokey eyes as well as colorful eye makeup. it pulls the look together and makes the face resoundingly complete.

Don't know how to apply blush properly? Simple give that radiant smile of yours that will tilt up that apples of your cheeks. Place the shade with a good angled brush at the center of it and swipe softly towards your temples. Don't forget to blend it after wiping off excess colors from your blush. DO the same to the other cheek.

How to make that cheek pop? Try smiling and exert a bit effort on your upper lip just like a the Joker but with a bit finesse. There you'll find your apples popping more than usual. After which you'll notice how accentuated your cheeks are. Oh! The Joker smile is only when doing your makeup, not when getting your pics taken. LOL.

Don't forget to clean your blush brush that next time you'll use a different shade of blush. :)

Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland Movie in Theaters Today!

"The best people usually are.." Father's Alice said to her when she asked if she going crazy with her dreams of Wonderland.

When we were kids, our dreams were limitless, boarderless. We didn't have any apprehension on what we want in life. A round house, a flying car, overflowing cupcakes... We wanted to be astronauts, inventors and to join the circus. But when we became adults, all these dreams, all these childish hopes got tampered down by reality. Sad ain't it?

What if now we see that white rabbit running and that we must hurry because we are late. Late for what?

Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland will tap the child in us. The child who had no fear to do anything. That scratches and bruises are of no consequence.

Alice, perplexed by the sudden death of her father and her family pressuring to marry to secure her future. What does a girl who think 6 impossible things before breakfast do? She runs away in pursue of a white rabbit. She then fell into a hole that brings her back to the curiouser and curiouser world of where she fell in.

Was she the right Alice? Was she the one to champion the White Queen to defeat the Jabowerwocky? But the creatures of Underland isn't sure. The Mad Hatter even said that she may have lost her muchness.

What strikes me in the film is the continuous belief of Alice that everything is just a dream and that she would wake up any second. Her courage shows each time she is ordered to do something that she didn't want. For a woman like me faced in the same predicament of following society's expectation, I didn't realize that I do have a choice. That it must be me who decides my fate and damn the consequences.

The ending of Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland is similar with how I've always wanted my journey to begin. With a courage to pursue my dreams and to be the herder of my life. I know people means well when they wish me to comply with their orders. But I have dreams that differ from them. It may sound crazy and bonkers... but isn't the best people exactly just that?

Alice In Wonderland is movie that gives me hope that I am in the right path in fulfilling my dreams. It may not fit the standards of many but I won't feel sorry for it. And that dream isn't exactly something I want to wake up from.

"It's only impossible when you think it is." says the Mad Hatter.

To me, it does make a lot of sense but add on to that, a little bit of "muchness."

Bring back the child in you in this year's Alice In Wonderland Movie by Tim Burton this March 4, 2010. While at it, bring a child to remind them that imagination and having tons of it is quite the thing.

Alice in Wonderland movie will be available in all Philippine theaters starting March 4, 2010. And for the IMAX 3D, it will be available only at SM North EDSA IMAX Theater.

Urban Woman: Tires and what to do with it.

I recently met a mishap in my third-hand car. The tire at the back of the driver side was beyond repair due to bad vulcanizing.

Did you know that our tires have wiring around inside it and if you don't know how to distinguish a good vulcanizing, you'll get your tires broken beyond repair like I did? Because of my ignorance, I needed to buy a second-hand tire just I could use my car again. Can you believe it? It definitely sucks and I just don't want you to go through with what I did.

So here is a few pointers that I would like you to take notice of when it comes to your car tires.

1. Have it aired regularly. If you're always on the road, a once a week habit or every time you get gassed up is a good time to also have it aired.

2. Check air pressure regularly to ensure you don't have a slow leak. Slow leak is a bit harder to determine. The device cost only about P150 toP300 in automotive or hardware shops like Ace Hardware or Handyman.

3. Check the thread of each tire and make sure they are still visible. If it looks worn, have a professional advise you if you need them checked or replaced.

4. Invest in a mini car compressor. This emergency device can air up your tires just in case you have two flat tires. It ensures a few good miles until you get to the next gasoline station.

5. Have a spare and check it too. Most of us ladies can overlook the spare sometimes. Ensure that it's in good working condition and could save the day.

6. Learn how to change tires. They say its simple as physics but its not so better have your dad or BF show a demonstration and teach you how to change your tires. Be ready to get dirty and keep wipes and towel in your trunk.

7. Make sure that the stuff you need to change your tires are in your trunk. Familiarize yourself with them.

8. When vulcanizing your tires, NEVER USE HOT PATCH. This will likely ruin the steel thread inside your tires and cause irreparable damage. ONLY USE COLD PATCH or with some, the German patch. Only have your tires vulcanized in reputable tire repair shops.

9. Don't leave your tires when the tire man is vulcanizing your tires. Keep your eyes on it and ask questions on what type of patch they are using. ASK FOR WARRANTY.

10. Don't get out of the car when someone tells you you have a flat tire. Look for the nearest lighted establishment or better yet a gasoline station before checking it. Make sure that the surrounding is safe. There are modus operandi that victimized woman with this situation.

These are just basic things that I can share with you. Online, you will find a lot more information that you can learn from. Let's not be helpless in moments like this, okay?

Mulberry is a warm pink shade in sheer gloss.
To wit, its a mixture of mica and iron oxides to create that adorable deep shade of pink with assorted oils that will provide the much needed moisture our lips need.

Mineraux Premium Lip Gloss reminds me of Lumiere Lumilips. It's almost the same in texture and feel. It is not all sticky but clings to the lips as it should. The lasting power is about the same as any typical lipgloss, but longer if you avoid eating or drinking. The pigmentation could be controlled by application and you'll hardly need lipstick because of the intensity of the shade. Definitely, this shade compliments my skintone. But honestly, the fairest of fair and the tannest of tan will likely love this shade.

I love the hint of shimmer it gives on close up but an even shade all over if I was farther away from the mirror.

This a a great everyday lip gloss especially when I'm in a hurry to put on any makeup at all.

Priced at Php400.00, many of the pinay enthuasiast will find the amount a bit steep and this is one and only con I find in the totally of my review of this product.

Start them young (Digital art and photography Classes for kiddos... and grown-ups, too!)

Oh the things kids have nowadays. :)

I got sent this information that I think many of us (yes, even if we're grown-ups na!) can benefit from. It's not too late to follow that dream or better yet, if you're a tita or a mom reading this blog, why not affor your lovely nieces and nephews and children a chance to pursue theirs at a young age. After all, its better to start them young. And its summer already, keep their minds busy by letting them do some fun and learning at the same time. Personally, its still a few hours that I get away from babysitting. Hehehe!

There is particularly one class though that sparked this author's interest. The D.I.Y. Photography which includes learning basic photgraphy concentrating on basic digital photography and photo retouching.

First Academy of Computer Arts now has a series of classes specifically targeting the youth's love for cartoons, Japanese manga, computer and illustrations. If your kid is showing signs of love and skill for drawing, why not nurture it while they still have time (unlike us! lol!)

When I was young, my mom noticed that I would always write anything on paper. I pretty much have wild imagination and I kept on writing and writing short stories. She nurtured this by providing me with books on writing and those fiction books that will spark my imagination more. Every summer she would give me tons of books to read and time came that I became a writer and editor for my school paper. I consider this the major reason why I'm a blogger right now still writing my way around everything. But if i become a mom, I would definitely enroll my kid in summer classes. It's something I never experienced and I hope I can provide him or her that in the future.

Here are the classes available if you're interested:

JUNIOR DIGITAL ARTS
This 44 hour workshop is a mini-version of the Digital arts program. Students will learn the fundamental aspects of Digital arts and basic Photoshop drawing. Enrollees must be at least 8 years old or has computer proficiency and interest in drawing. This workshop costs PhP 6,146.00.

DIGITAL MANGA COMICS
In this 62 hour workshop, students will be able to develop and create their own personal Manga style comic strips using various animated and graphic art applications. Enrollees must be at least 11 years old or has computer proficiency and interest in drawing. This workshop costs PhP 12,300.00

JUNIOR 3D MODELING
This 32 hour workshop will enable students to learn the basic elements of 3D and learn some of Maya’s basic features such as texturing and camera usage. Enrollees must be at least 11 years old or has computer proficiency and must have a good command of the mouse. This workshop costs PhP 7,740.00.

MANGA ILLUSTRATION
This 20 hour workshop will enable students to learn the art of Japanese drawing. Students will be able to conceptualize, create, present and submit their own comics from cover to pages including characters, background setting and layout. Enrollees must be at least 8 years old or interested to draw. Workshop fee is PhP 3,750.00.

JUNIOR DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY
This 16 hour workshop will enable students to understand the basic concepts of digital photographyEnrollees must be at least 13 years old or has computer proficiency and an interest in photography, and must have a digital camera. This course costs PhP 5,600.00.

D.I.Y. PHOTOGRAPHY
Learn basic photography & do-it-yourself photography.

Part 1: BASIC DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY
In this 16 hour course, will understand basic digital photography concepts, terms and applications in real life, be familiar with basic equipment needed for digital photography, learn principles of photography, be able to shoot different subjects, and learn basic image editing and manipulation techniques to improve digital photographs using Photoshop. Students must be computer proficient, have high interest in photography and must have a digital camera. This course costs PhP 6,920.00.

Part 2: PHOTO RETOUCHING (Glamour-style)
Students will earn how to edit and retouch photographs for glamour-type designs in this 20 hour course. They Enrollees must be proficient in using the computer and the internet and must have high interest in photography, graphic design and digital arts. This course costs PhP 8,990.00
Part 3: D.I.Y. STUDIO SET UP

Students will learn to create their own photo shoot set- up using readily available equipment and materials in this 24 hour course. SUZI ENTRATA-ABRERA & PAOLO ABRERA: Follow your bliss

Celebrity mom Suzi Entrata-Abrera and triathlete and TV host Paolo Abrera first met in 1997 on the sports-oriented show Gameplan, where they both worked as hosts. Together and on camera, Suzi and Paolo traveled to exciting places, jumped off cliffs, dove into the ocean depths, and took enormous risks to bring the rush of extreme sports to their viewers.
“We were always traveling together, trying out different sports, meeting new people. It was a constant learning experience. It was great to know that there is a huge world out there with so many different sorts of people,“ Suzi said.
“Suzi has a free-spirited and easy-going manner. She has the wonderful gift of always being able to make me smile,” Paolo said on what attracted him to Suzi. “It doesn’t hurt that she’s easy on the eyes too.”
“Paolo still takes my breath away,” Suzi shared. “He is sensitive, kind, funny and devoted.”
“We went on fun adventures in exotic places for Gameplan,” Paolo stated, then adding, “What did you think was gonna happen?”
On 2001, the couple took life's biggest plunge and got married.
Paolo said that they are lucky to work in a “non-traditional” way that has allowed them to be a little more free-wheeling.
“We both love to travel so we would ride on buses, get lost, and find our way again. We don’t mind getting lost because every place has something interesting to offer,” Suzi said. “My parents always encouraged me to follow my own road, and I hope our three kids will see how important it is to follow your heart and be the person you want to be by following your passions and living your dreams.”
“I like being outside and feeling the sun on my skin and the rush of the wind. My ideal day would be spent just sitting at the beach, with no particular plans, just taking things as they come. We go where the winds lead us,” Paolo added.
The couple love going to the movies, having coffee or having lunch together. On weekends, they go running, swimming, go on bike rides or visit the market with the kids. Sometimes, Suzi and Paolo hop on the motorcycle for a ride on weekend afternoons.
However, being in the TV business and not working in 9-to-5 office jobs also presents its own challenges.
“It’s particularly hard for Suzi who has to wake up at the crack of dawn, and sometimes gets home late from taping a second program,” Paolo shared. “It’s hard sometimes to find time for each other, and with three kids as well. But even on extra-busy days, those last two minutes right before you nod off –where you tell each other one last funny story and make each other smile—are golden,” he added.

RISSA MANANQUIL & PAOLO TRILLO: The ordinary can also be extraordinary

“I first met Paolo in a Christmas party for the fashion industry. I was then president of the Professional Models Association of the Philippines while Paolo was managing partner of Fiamma,” said Rissa Mananquil, a model, columnist, and modeling-school teacher.
“I eventually asked Rissa out on dinner dates. As we got to know each other better, I was smitten,“ said Paolo Trillo, Ateneo men's basketball team manager, restaurateur and sportscaster.
“I was impressed by how responsible, hands-on and attentive he was to his business. He always treated his staff well. He’s incredibly down-to-earth, intelligent and principled,” she said.
“I love how Rissa is so humble. She never expects special treatment. I’m so drawn to her because she’s very sweet, considerate and kind-hearted,” Paolo added.
“We love to eat! We enjoy trying different restaurants and cooking together at home. We also indulge in traveling. We like to explore, get lost, and discover new things,” Rissa enthused.
The multi-hyphenated couple always makes it a point to share time with each other, even in extremely bad weather.
Rissa tells how during the height of typhoon Milenyo, which brought Manila to a standstill, the couple just hung out and talked amid the power disruption and general uproar.
“When we’re together, the ordinary becomes extraordinary,” Rissa said.

ISSA LITTON-GARRIDO & TIGER GARRIDO: Open yourself up to everything life has to offer

Issa Litton-Garrido and Tiger Garrido met in a blind date and tied the knot in a Stars Wars-themed wedding ceremony.
“Tiger asked me if I could become his girlfriend by making me check a series of boxes in a placard,” Issa recalled fondly. ”The series of placards began with questions like if I’m happy with him or if he makes me smile, which eventually led to the final question of wanting to be together exclusively.”
“Laughter is definitely a big part of our life,” said Tiger, who is an orthopedic surgeon at De La Salle Medical Center.
“We both don’t take life too seriously, and simply take whatever comes our way,” added Issa, a culinary enthusiast and TV host for a morning show that tackles a grab-bag of topics and a cooking show that features top chefs and their recipes.
“My husband likes to chill and I like fast-paced things yet we manage to make things work between us. Life is definitely not boring having each other and our two daughters,” Issa added.
“I am a surgeon and nobody in the world could imagine me being free spirited, but there are two sides to me: the serious side and the idiot side. God forbid that they overlap!“ he said.
“I love his sense of humor and athleticism. Plus, he’s a really good dancer,” Issa said of her husband, who answered that he loves her competitiveness, resolve, and passion for life.
Tiger proudly stated that free-spirited Issa loves to race on the track, has no problem bungee-jumping off a crane and sky-diving out a plane.
The couple enjoys going to the beach, dancing, watching movies and getting massages together. Given Tiger’s hectic work schedule, they try to enjoy the simple moments of walking together after dinner, or sharing the day’s events with each other, or playing with their girls in their bedroom.
“Life is short. Open yourself up to everything life has to offer. Live with passion. If not, life will just pass you by,” Issa said.

There is no right way to fall in love. There is no manual that we can all read to lead us to that person that will give our happy ending... but stories like theirs gives us that glimmer of sunshine like a summer morning that it exist and it could happen... you'll just have to learn to recognize it before it drifts away like a summer breeze.

Along with the new hair cut, I know that some of you are curious with what I do with it in the shower. No naughty thoughts there. Since I got all these chemical treatments for my hair, there is no choice but to give it appropriate and necessary care it needs. I don't think no hair like mine can simply get away with a simple shampoo. And if you're doing just that, you better start rethinking your hair care maintenance.

Until now, people notice my hair color and I believe that Pureology helped maintain bigtime for its the only coloring shampoo I use. Antifade Complex is definitely working here.

Honestly, I was only forced to buy this conditioner by a very snotty person. But one thing I can say is that she knows hair care real well. But since L'oreal is famous for hair care I'm all surpirsed to see this work on me immediately. I saw grea results in one week. Less hair fall, my hair so much smoother and it has become a lot more manageable. This is definitely going on my next wishlist.

Intensive Conditioners:

Intensive conditioners are highly important. Not only for me who has completely chemically-treated hair but for everyone else. Our hair gets damaged by the sun big time, not just our skin. And it will do our hair some good to get a little bit of home treatment. No need a weekly visit at the salon if you frequently get some dose of deeo conditioning at the comfort of your own bathroom.

Tip: Go all the way as wrapping your head with saran wrap/cellophane and live it for mroe than the directed time on the tub. Instead of 20, go for more than a hour. Catch up on our favorite TV shows as you lounge on your couch while the treatment seeps in to your locks.

Kerastase Oleo-Relax Masque for Dry Brittle Hair

There is something to be said for a hair masque that cost almost Php3000.00. It's because it works! Plain and simple. This has not left my bathroom vanity for years now. Now that it has a new look and more things to look forward, too. I'll stay a fan. My mom clearly knows her products wel because she was the one who introduced me to this brand. She made sure that my rebond would go a long way with this weekly treatment.

Consider me indulgent but I use this every other day. Yes, I'm that anal when it comes to my hair. Cream Silk has been taking care of my ahir for the past years I was in high school and college. For them to come up with a hair mask that actually helps my hair get back its lustre from all the ironing, blow drying and treatments, is such a great relief. If the Philippine Fashion Runway models depend on this product to keep their hair soft, why won't I right?

I hope that you were able to find something here to try that is within your budget range. I like these products because they are accessible to allof us. Visit any popular Salon and you'll find Pureology and Kerastase products. While the rest of the hair care products I've mentioned are available at your favorite drugstore. Personally, I prefer getting at Watson's and Beauty by SM in Makati. They have discounts and promos that helps my budget big time.

Sujiivana Salon Haircut Review

I finally did it. I finally chopped off my locks. I simply couldn't pass up an opportunity when presented by the chance to have it styled by a trained-stylist of KNE, an acclaimed international hair stylist who made it his personal mission to give the Philippines a different lasting taste in hair styling. I couldn't be more impressed with his principles. He will definitely bust the Filipino myths when it comes to hair styling.

Sujiivana, a beautiful life in Sanskrit, is a word that rings true in this salon. They have made it their dedication to make this salon a lifestyle destination. The place upon entering will definitely give you that relaz feeling. The team of Sujiivana are attentive and welcoming. Not all too intidimating like other salons I've been to in x number of years of salon tripping.

My hair cutting session started off with the attendant giving me a client card to fill out. I'm always impressed with salon who takes time to get to know their clients by these cards. Not everyone has this nor takes it seriously. Clearly, Sujiivana does. When I was directed to my seat, I was given a drink and the magazine I want to read. Just exactly what I wrote on the card.

Teddy, the stylist assigned to me was attentive when I tried to explain how I want my hair to look like. I was intentionally making an effort in giving him a hard time as I explained. Yes, I'm bad like that. But I wanted test his patience and knowledge as well. I told him I wanted a cut that is not too short nor too long... but I don't mind layers, something good for my rebonded hair but also for the top part which isn't rebonded anymore. I would also want bangs but my hair would not cooperate. Could he make it possible?

End results?

Yes, he did it! I love my new hair!! I have bangs!! The last time I had bangs, I wanted to chop the stylist's hands because she committed horrible crime on my hair! But Teddy definitely got my style (no matter how confusing my explanation was). I'm so impressed!

I know those are a lot of photos of me with my new haircut but I just want to show you how pleased I am with KNE's training. Teddy took his sweet time in cutting my hair. He also patiently answered my inquiries on his techniques. He gave me easy-enough to understand process on how they were trained. It shouldn't be rushed, he said. "You paid for a good price for your hair cut, you must get you're money's worth.", he added.

After my cut, my hair was masked by a treatment that will reduce the damage that has been done to my hair due to the coloring and rebonding. It will also give my hair the shine it lacks. This treatment starts at about Php700 and up, depending on the length of your hair.

Another thing that I asked is if I could maintain this look everyday. This time, Teddy's assistant, Kirby, took his time on explaining me on how I could achieve the same look with a flat iron. Even demonstrating on how to hold the flat iron. For nearly a week now, I've been achieving almost the same results with my handy-dandy hair ironing tool.

I asked this because we all know that a blow dry could only go so far but once we wash our hair, the magic is gone and we are left with a bad haircut. With the Sujiivana way, I get to take home my hairstyle and not worry that I won't look the same the next day, or the next and the next after that.

The BF didn't like the idea of cutting a lot inches from my hair. The only thing he asked of me was to never cut my hair short. You see, he likes my hair long and straight. But when I came home, he couldn't help but be wowed with the transformation. He said I look younger. He even asked if I had coloring done. I said no. I told him the hair cut brought my highlights to life compared to my previous haircut. "I like it." he said approvingly.

Even the BF (picky picky BF) adores it. :D

Inspired by Frances of Topaz Horizon, let me share how i found my real love.

I'm not yet married, so I don't have anything to say on that regard. Like Frances, my family is not rich but we weren't poor either. But there was a time when I had to go to school with my shoes gaping open and all of my school things were second hand. There was also a time when my mom would even borrow my allowance just so we can have something to eat. Yes, it was that worst. My mom was in debt, big time. While my cousins had the latest things, I had their hand-me-downs. I even experienced not getting a haircut for more than a year. Whenever I remember those days, I can't help but cry... but these tears are of happiness because despite all those things, my mom and I was able to rise above it all.

Through all those, my mom made sure that I finish my education. She encouraged me despite my laziness to get better (if not the best) grades. It's the only thing that I can leave you with, she said. We don't have hectares of lands or multi-million businesses. She also said (this is her opinion and now my own), that with a good education (not exactly schools), I would also be exposed to people who also has the same ambition as I do....

She was right.

I was in law school when I met R. We became friends through our classmates and we clicked. We understood each other because we had the same goal, we wanted to help our family by becoming a lawyer. I wanted to take care of my mom while Ron wanted his parents to come home from working abroad. It wasn't about the same songs or books we like. Although, Frances, Ron loves to read. :) It wasn't also about the physical attractiveness (although there was that). It wasn't also about our friends' coaxing that "we look good together." We both have grand dreams, we wanted to live a life that our parents wasn't able to live. We want our kids to have the best, much like what our parents strives for us to have. We love each others' company because we can talk about anything and not feel the least bored. Yes, I can stand him talking about basketball and he can stand me talking incessantly about my makeups.

Like Frances' Vince, R is as generous with his gifts. He showered me with lavish things through out our relationship. He spoils me rotten that people started to take notice. One of his friends even warned him that I was high-maintenance. But all those things I know comes from his heart and not just something he think he needs to do. In return when I earned my own money, I also lavished him with the things. If he can do those, why can't I right? That is just one way to show how much we love each other.

Now, we do everything together. We invest for our future, we bought a place that we now call our home. Slowly, we are building a future that will be a fulfillment of both our dreams...

Love is not a knight sweeping you off your feet and taking you to his castle of gold. It's when he was there and helped you up after you made a blunder of yourself. Love is when you're crying and you won't talk to anyone but he still stayed. Love is when he won't rush you when you're doing you're makeup. Love is when you can't stand basketball and yet you shout when his team wins. Love is when you sleep mad at each other but wake up holding each other. Love is when the most important person in your life died and he was there to help you pick up the pieces and slowly put them back together.

I thank my mother for providing me the best she could. She was the instrument of God so that I could meet R. I know that there will always be a guy who'll be richer or better looking but none of them will ever have what R has, an unexplainable devotion to a girl who has nothing to share but her love for him and the rest of her life.

Yes, I think my story is like a fairy tale as well.. simply because, like those story books we read, I know I found my happily ever after.

I'm not a perfect person (many are often annoyed with me), but if I could find my God's Best, I'm sure you will as well.

For the love of blogging and beauty

There is a certain article in the cyberworld that is causing an outrage to many beauty bloggers. The primary question in that post is whether blogging is the new media. Media, is the plural of medium (thank you dictionary.com). This word is commonly used in tv, radio, newspaper and magazine that reach a great number of people.

If one would apply that to a blog, what do great number of people mean? I suspect it's more than a thousand, a certain number of population or a general number of cities. This also depends on the demographic that media is targeting so it could lessen that great number as well. So let's get back to just thousands of people. Does this mean that for a blog to became a part of the media, he or she must have a good number of followers or hits?

There is the content issue that these people are ranting about. Have you seen tabloids? Don't you think they are a bunch of crap writing articles about people that aren't true? But why do an insane number of people buy them? And some even die because of it? Because its entertaining. Period.

The things is, blogging is seen as a new form of media. Information are disseminated faster to a large quantity of readers and there is little to no amount of financing needed. Also, communications are faster when it comes to blogging. Answering inquiries in speed of light compared to dialing a number that is always busy or an email to be answered in the next issue. Blogging provides a close connection with its followers and I believe that this will only grow stronger in the coming years. Don't be surprise to see a set of tables and chairs devoted to bloggers only during events. But I don't think it will dominate the media we were accustomed to. There is still much to be said about holding a good copy of Cosmopolitan, watching TMZ and reading Manila Bulletin.

A blog is a tiny tiny space in the cyber world where one can write ANYTHING about ANYTHING. There is little set rules in this world and you can't expect everyone to regulate what they write. Just be thankful that some does. And the fact that that blog became popular because of how they diss other brands and rave overly too much on the perks they get isn't your problem. They can't help it if they get invited to events, earn money and get perks from it or just hates a certain brand or service. People don't need to be a professional on anything to start their own blog. It's their "log of the day" and you really can't do anything about it. But you are free to feel mad or disgusted by it if you think them unworthy of being beside you in an event. It's a good thing that many don't think the same way as you do.

People will read what they want and even if you start writing articles to have these people regulate what they write, people will still look for that interesting (and honest) article that will get you really riled up. You can't expect them to have the same standards as you. And probably because they think your standards are wrong or even low for them. That isn't your problem either.

Just live and let live. There may be things we don't agree on but if there is one thing all of us are passionate about, it's the love for beauty.

Isn't that enough to acquire an amount of peace in this small world of beauty?

When I was first contacted by ZenHealth, I felt somewhat intimidated to answer proposition. I kept asking myself if I was worthy enough to give advise on such things on a magazine. Really, me! Shen??? Expert enough? I know a lot would say I'm not. But my mom always told me never to question the blessings that comes your way, what you do is try to pay it forward.

I still can't believe that my name is written on a magazine. :)
This is the second time, actually, but I'm still quite shy to share you the other magazine.
hehehe...

Even as a kid I always dreamed of writing for magazine (I even made a magazine made from a sketchpad in highschool). But there is more to magazine than just the colorful glossy pages. A lot of work, blood and tears go into it. When I worked for a magazine, I never took a page for granted anymore. But honestly, I don't know how I got here. Never did I thought (just dreamed) that I will be in a position worthy of a page.

For me and R, it's always Valentine's day everyday. At least we want to think so. But this day is extra special to me because we did something that relates to my other side of the world. My eyebrows and lining technique needs one major overhaul. :) It's been a while since my last visit to the Browhaus and from the looks of it, I need one so badly. And I can't find my tweezer! Bugger! I really wish I had more time to blog and visit places I could blog about more. But so far, I'm enjoying my time with my relatives, friends and simply just spending more time in the real world. It's tough at the same time, but with days like this... well, why complain right?

Even if Valentine's Day is just a fake holiday, it definitely gives us a way to appreciate the smaller things in life that work and stress takes away from us. And though we would want it be Valentine's Day, our Birthday or to be Christmas everyday, it simply can't happen. All we have to do is to be thankful that we still get to spend a simple day with our loved ones.

I love you all so very much, the overwhelming support and for the constant comments and questions. I truly adore you, guys. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Movie Review: Valentine's Day + meet & greet

This star-studded movie reminded me of Drew Barrymore's He's Just Not Into You and the local movie Star Circle cast J.O.L.O.G.S. but a little more up beat and truly in tune with LOVE. Hence, the title. The cinematography was amazing. Although my dad is from LA, it is not on top of the list of my USA fantasy trip. Right now, it is!!! Well, second to New York. :)

The movie like many love-themed movie is very much relate-able. It inspired not only of Love but what truly is behind it.... forgiveness, acceptance, courage, commitment, fidelity, honesty and unconditional. I shed a few tears but mostly there were laughs. The audience were taken away by the made comedy scene and believe me when I say that the audience didn't hold back their reactions. :)

The movie happened during one Valentine's Day and it revolved around a lot of people who are somewhat connected to each other in some ways. Ashton Kutcher's role was so adorable that I saw him in a different light. Anne Hathaway's acting was just the best! One of the comedic highlight of the movie. Jessica Biel reminded me of a friend but in a more exaggerated way. Her i-hate-vday-but-hopes-to-share-with-someone is just too darn cute. You won't hate her, I swear. Jaimie Foxx and Eric Dane was just dripping with sexy! You have to watch out for the out of the shower towel-clad Eric Dane, McSteamy indeed. Patrick Dempsey didn't have an admirable character. His action were worthy of Gabriella action. I didn't like all the hoochy acting Taylor-Taylor tandem showed since I think of her as an innocent teenager. Emma Roberts owned her acting. I like her nonchalant script. There's more but I'd let you be the judge on those.

I was first hesitant to bring the BF since he's not into romantic movies like this one. But boy oh boy, my man was laughing his heart out with a few scenes with me. So yes, this is Boyfriend safe movie. Especially those BF who tends to lean on gory zombie movies like mine. I'm sure they will have a great time with this one.

Most of all, this movie made me miss my mom a lot. I know the love that she has put in to raising me and me making it difficult along the way didn't help. So, for those who thinks that love don't exist, just look at the person who raised you... you'll know that you had it all along. And that Valentine's Day is not the only day you can show you love them, too.

So, what are you waiting for? Don't miss this great romantic-comedy film made for the Happy Heart's day.

Here Comes Alice on Happy Heart's Day

I was just browsing through multiply for the Alice in Wonderland + Urban Decay Book of Shadows collabo, when i chanced upon Greenboxunlimited. I quickly messaged them if its still available. A day later i think, I received a text asking if I was still interested. I asked the BF if he could purchase the palette for me on Valentine's and forgo the usual bouquet surprise. He said, yes. As if he'd say otherwise, right? It's Valentine's.

If there was something I learned in my 26 years, it's that guys don't get how I think. I don't know about you but I gave up on "expecting" and "assuming" that the guy i'm dating or in a relationship with can read my mind. Really, they can't and most often they don't even make an effort. Not to burst anyone's fantasy/romantic bubble but it's nice to give our man a break and say out loud what you want and want to happen.

When the BF paid for the Urban Decay Alice in Wonderland Palette, it didn't lessen the essence of gift-giving. Waiting for courier to deliver the package made me and BF anticipate on what it would look like in person. When the courier got here, let's just say we were both excited to open the package. He even said, "Buksan mo na. Gusto ko makita kung gano siya kaganda." I know it was tough for him to buy something he hasn't seen in person but I'm glad he changed this tradition for this one Valentine.

Remember Pretty Woman where Richard Gere and Julia Roberts were shopping inside the store and he just nodded and smiled whenever he liked something on Julia? Ron is that kind of guy. He's really that manly man and I just love that about him. He knows how to take charge of things but knows also when to back off. I really love that about him. Some girls may get tired of that and I admit sometimes I do as well, but I wouldn't want him to change. After all, it's a two-way street for us. Me being able to tell him anything lets him loosen up and do the same. Now I know what to get him for our anniversary. (how much does a treadmill cost?)

Many would say that my relationship with Ron is unsual, out of the norm. Others would say that its boring because we hardly have anything in common. But at the end of the day, no matter how much I can't stand basketball or his love for Chinese movies on cable, I still want to cuddle up to him and sleep while he watch. Every morning when he's busy watching an NBA game, his shout of excitement when his team wins makes my day. Then he would go back to bed when he sees i'm up and tells me those wonderful three words.... "Kain na tayo." (Let's eat). You see even if he wakes up early, he always wait up for me so we can have breakfast/brunch/lunch together. :) Kain na tayo is like him saying "Good morning. I love you." to me everyday.

There is nothing wrong with saying what you want . If you read FHM as much as I do, you'd know that guys love girls who has their own minds but maintain a certain finesse and decorum. You don't have to be a nagging GPS with him but if he asks you want you want, don't just say "Kaw? What do you want?" or "Kaw bahala." Instead, tell him you've been craving for Mang Jimmy's sisig or some coffee at Bo's. If he disagrees then suggest something else. As much as guys have a hard time figuring us out.... I've given up a long time figuring them out. :) LOL. After all, if they really want to surprise us, nothing can stop them dudes. :)

Love is the buzzin' all around us now this Valentine season. It couldn't be more apt for The Body Shop to release their newest fragrance, Love Etc. Love in a bottle? Well, not really.. like all of us, The Body Shop interpreted what love is in form of the wonderful notes that made this eu de parfum.

"Notes of pear, neroli, bergamot - combine to create the fragrant top notes.

Notes of jasmine, heliotrope, lily of the valley - combine to create the middle notes

(that vibrate across the fragrance. are the heart notes of the fragrance)

Floral explosion of love, this is how I would describe Love Etc... Eu De Parfum. It has a ripe scent. I could compare it to a few Diors and Chanels that my mom used. It's quite thick to the senses, this kind of perfume usually stays long time on your skin.

If you're a fan of anything vanilla, this is a scent for you. Personally, I'm not much into vanilla but the mixture of this perfume made me a convert. It's truly amazing.

I love how it the scent lingers on my clothes even after a day's work. I just feel invigorated whenever I use this. Just the thing I need to make my Happy Valentine, a lot more happier. :)

The Body Shop Love Gloss

The one I received is the clear gloss with a hint of pinched pink. It has a subtle sparkle but not all-too apparent. I love the wand and the scent/taste is quite fruity with a hint of rose. It felt like a love potion that when the BF kisses me, he'll be under my spell. Hihihi!

Like with a lot of my perfumes, I prefer to use them along with their body lotion and body wash. I'm realy happy Love etc... came along with it.

An Early Valentine Movie Datev + New Kikay Gadget

It really is going to be one early Valentine's day date for me and my love. On the eve of Valentine's day I will be enjoying a much anticipated romantic comedy movie of the year, Valentine's Day. It an all star cast and it is just befitting that I spent it with love of my life, don't you think?
