While I was in London, I totally missed the explosion party for fellow cobbler Tanja Savic's label Tanja S. London, because of that pesky cold I endured. Her A/W 09 collection is made-up of super deluxe drool-worthy footwear. And despite the interwebs going a bit buzz crazy, I couldn't resist sharing her creations with you lovely and awesome readers! For once I'm actually feeling the wedge bootie and not even Acne could make me "feel it, but Tanja can! I love these rock-'em-to-a-fierce-party wedges and I'm sure you will too. Bags + Bows | Treizeor by Alexis Mabille

I love revisiting designers that capture my imagination. After sharing Alexis Mabille's obsession with bows almost a year ago, I'm back to share his continued obsession, but this time in his Treizeor bag collection for Fall/Winter '09. Knots + Baubles | Tomoko Igarashi

I always look forward to visiting showrooms! Its humbling to get an insiders view of the multi-faceted journey of designers. Recently I was able to view Japanese jewelry designer Tomoko Igarashi's current collection, which is a series of knotted necklaces and accessories. With both of her parents being designers, Tomoko inevitably followed the same path after graduating from Parsons. She incorporates a vibrant selection of gaudy baubles and clustered chains to adorn the neck. The Knot Collection is comprised of sizable one of kind necklaces and numbered to ensure exclusivity. Tomoko drew inspiration from scarves and the many ways to wear them for this collection. Using various materials like vintage resin, fresh water pearls, and anodized aluminum, allowing each necklace to be reworked to your liking. — Ebony.

SheBreathes Media is officially up and running. You can see the Masthead {thus far} for Sejais, and a few openings and internships at our NYC office. Young, independent and free!

I've been having a battle with the Giveaway Newsletter it's growing and the company I'm using just isn't cutting it. So please forgive any delays. November is coming. The list now stands at a little over 3K, which is amazing! Thanks to a lovely reader/subscriber I now use Excel to pick the winners, because it was a task any other way. I'm trying to figure out how to show you the picks without revealing email addresses, if you have any suggestions please feel free to share them. I'm also thinking about capping it for 2009. Any thoughts?

Minimalism | Edward Fong

Last week reader Cori sent me a link to Edward Fong declaring "you're going to love his collection", and I do. I waited to post because I needed more information and wanted to see if he'd release photos of his SS2010 collection. He hasn't yet but I'm working on getting a peek at it. Last night I saw one of my favourite sites, that I peruse for talent {photographers, agencies, models}, F-Tape do a review of his A/W '09 collection, and that old feeling of "you should've posted about said designer last week" overwhelmed me. It happens but sharing is caring, especially in fashion! So do forgive any redundancy but what Edward Fong is creating is worth repeating. It's structural minimalism at it's best. Classic shapes with a modern twist — non-fussy and beautiful fashion. You can see more from this his A/W collection at the photographer's website, Johan Salvador. I'm working with his showroom to bring you more, so expect an update in the near future.

Revisiting | West Feren Holiday '09

The kind people over at West Feren, who've been featured before, sent me their Holiday '09 lookbook, and I'm loving it. They've introduced a few new styles into their growing handbag collection, like the McCoy and Joplin, both of which are hits! I love the "lifestyle" feel to their lookbook photos, they sell the bags well, giving you glimpse into how you could rock them. Now, if I can find out who which designer the models are rockin', this would be a home run. Pops + Splashes | Olivia Rubin

Olivia Rubin's S/S 2010 collection has me more than a bit smitten. Not only does it celebrate the short and sexy but it also combines several trends that showed-up during the fashion shows this past September, like the "painterly print" theme and halter minis. I love the pops of colour and the styling of these images. The dresses set against beautiful paintings and in a painter's studio is rather perfect, with the Raybans being the cherry toppers. This is probably my favourite dress of them all, the color is more subdued, but it's just perfect.

Mesh + Feathers | Renata Morales F/W 09

Each time I revisit Canadian-based designer Renata Morales I feel like I'm stepping into a dream world, she never fails to excite me, which is why a revisit was in order. I'm loving her beautifully constructed mesh dresses in gold, metal, and pink from her F/W 09 collection. They're so richly-hued with loads of intricate details like feathers and laser-like cuts. Wishlist | Patricia Nicolás

I've never been particularly drawn to what I like to call "rebel/gothic" jewelry, but looking at London-based jewelry designer Patricia Nicolás' collection of gorgeous baubles made up of gold and silver chains, skeletal hands, crosses, and semi-precious stones, has me rethinking my stance. The Central Saint Martin graduate is reinterpreting a trend I've been seeing lately but she does it without overwhelming your style or pocket! I'd rock these to-and-fro and I can't wait to get my hands on her next collection. Visit here + here and explore her world a bit more, you won't be disappointed.

Decadent Elements | Iosselliani

Our showroom visit to Ashish also involved seeing pieces from Italian jewelry brand Iosselliani by design duo Roberta Paolucci and Paolo Giacomelli, which is one of my favourite jewelry brands for many reasons. I love that they incorporate so many classic ornaments and shapes into their jewelry collections, which translates into beautiful and modern pieces. I'm enamored with their gold and silver pieces and their usage of stones in the collection below. Each piece screams regal beauty with the two-toned pieces being my favourite.

Beautiful Excess | Ashish Spring/Summer 2010

Ashish by India-born, London-based designer Ashish Gupta is all about the excessive side of fashion. His collections are often infused with enough sequins and bold printed beauties to make your head spin in a glamorous delight. We recently were able to visit his US-based showroom to take a closer look at his S/S 2010 collection, which I was mesmerised by during London Fashion Week. The collection is filled with beautiful sequined blouses with cheeky sayings, cropped gold and tie-dyed sequin trousers, and mini sequined skirts along with dresses infused with everything from flamingos to ice-cream on a cone topped with a cherry. The punchy colours mix well with the more decadent hues, which is the real cherry topper in this collection. I found this collection to be a mix of fun and sexy, with many of the pieces translating well off the runway. If paired correctly you'll be the belle of the sequins ball.

I love these weaved gold wedges, they were part of the SS2010 show.

The sequined Mona Lisa blouse/dress is another favourite of mines, along with with the flamingo sequined dress.

This sequined blouse gave a nod towards the current love affair with all things studded and spike by adding them to the shoulders.

Colour Me Beautiful | Suno S/S 2010

Suno is back! Suno's S/S 2010 collection has me weak in the knees and I just can't resist sharing whenever I receive their lookbook! Not to mention I actually own several pieces from the last two collections from Suno and think I did a nice job of mixing plenty of them into my wardrobe while in Paris. With this collection Max sourced fabrics not only from Kenya, but also from Tanzania, Japan, Korea, and Italy. He was inspired by Armand Lanoux’s book about Paris in the 1920s and the colour palate and shapes from Kandinsky's 1927 painting, Spitzen Im Bogen. The different prints used this time around, like the tye-dye effect on the one-shouldered shirt in the first photo paired with a bold flirty skirt, to the cropped kanga printed jacket in the third photo, really shows how Max is moving Suno forward without it losing it's signature. The colour contrasting throughout this collection and the overall silhouettes leaves me breathless. Not only does Max through Suno employ Kenyan workers he also employs workers through the Garment Center/district, which is a lot of "do-gooding" from a young label, and more than admirable. Showroom Visit | Ports 1961 S/S 2010 {Continued}

On Friday I finally shared photos from Ports 1961 NYFW S/S 2010 collection after they sent over their photos for us to use. As I stated then, Ebony visited their showroom on my behalf and spent a considerable amount of time getting to know about the collection, inspiration, and got exclusive photos just for SheBreathes readers, enjoy!

Last Thursday I had the amazing opportunity of visiting the Ports1961 Showroom. Ports 1961 was the very first show I attended during my first NYFW this past September and I was left speechless. Creative Director Tia Cibani has done an amazing job continuing the legacy of the renowned Canadian fashion house Ports International.

The VP of PR & Marketing, Tony Alcindor was my guide for the day. He walked me through every aspect of the collection and gave me an extensive history on the brand. Cibani's global perspective is expressed in every collection that is produced. Japan was the backdrop for the nature inspired S/S 2010 campaign. Her innovative ability to incorporate bits and pieces of culture into the collection while still maintaining a modern twist is evident throughout. A traditional mix of fabrics like silk, organza, tropical wool, and linen are unusually combined with manmade materials. Linear silhouettes with the option of being cinched at the waist, wide Kimono style sleeves, plastic obi belts, silk marble water prints on dresses, and one of my favorite the Japanese inspired Geta heels. Using literal forms of interpretation like bamboo reeds in scarves, attest to Cibani's ability to fearlessly push the envelope and create with no apprehensions. Cibani partnered with emerging designer Julia Lundsten, of Finsk to collaborate on the extensive offering of accessories for spring. Known for using fabrication in unexpected places, the two designers merged organic elements like wood, plastics, and metals yielding a futuristic vibe. - Ebony.

Birds of Paradise | Cleo B

British shoe designer Cleo Barbour's label Cleo B, has been on my radar since the early summer and while I missed her showing in Paris, I couldn't resist sharing some of the shoes in her debut collection; which consists of 20 styles inspired by Birds of Paradise. Her background is as solid as her A/W 09 collection — she trained at Ferragamo and worked for Georgina Goodman and Nicholas Kirkwood. The collection is filled with lush hues and curvaceous lines, which scream sexy! I can't get enough of the black suede ankle-boot trimmed in bronze snakeskin, appropriately dubbed Goldie or the electric blue suede wedge topped with a gold trinket. She has more than a few shoes at perfect heel heights to satisfy even the most discerning shoe-lover's sole. Visit and explore more.

It's a universal story that's not easily digested but I think is worthy of a global audience.

We have a Youtube channel now, affectionately dubbed SheBreathestv. Sejais is on twitter and the website is coming soon. IKEA paid the office space a visit, so expect updates on Love + Dreams, as there are plans to pimp-out the office nicely.

In other awesome news that I've tweeted about, but wanted to share here! I will be heading to Rio in 2 weeks to shoot an editorial for the magazine and I can't wait! Way Models will be supplying us all the Brasileiras we'll need for this shoot. I can't wait to share Sejais with the world! I know some say "you've never seen something like this before" but I must say you haven't, hehe. NYFW | Ports 1961 Spring/Summer 2010

Ports 1961 is one of the many shows that Ebony attended on my behalf during NYFW, it's also one of the shows where the photos weren't presentable. Yesterday she visited their showroom on my behalf {that post is coming next} to have another look at the collection and I'm glad she did. After her visit they sent along their electronic lookbook, which included photos of the show, thus why I'm sharing now. But even before the re-see, I thought Ports 1961 created a solid collection that took NYFW to a beautiful level. The S/S 2010 collection takes it's inspiration from Japan and is expertly constructed. From the dresses to the accessories, each piece appeals to the lady in me who loves luxurious minimalism. I won't say too much as the showroom feature includes a video explaining a lot of the pieces along with Ebony's review. The pieces I adore are below.

Collection Love | Tina Kalivas Polyrhythms 2009

I'm sure this post will solidify my love and admiration for Tina Kalivas because this will be her third feature on here! While I try not to overload on the same designers every season, I simply can't help myself. Tina's Polyrhythms 2009 collection is inspiring me in beautiful ways. Look at those prints and the balance of colours, that based on the images that accompany the collection seem to be otherworldly, the global tribe if you will. But wait a second I saw pieces of another collection inspired by Miles Davis , who is legend/icon status in the halls of SheBreathes, which puts Ms. Kalivas in the super dope category with me. Back to Black | Katie Gallagher Spring/Summer 2010

I don't remember the exact point or place I came upon Katie Gallagher's name. It could've been from an Interview Magazine earlier this year or the email I just unearthed. But I do know the exact point that I actually researched her name, which was during Paris Fashion Week, when her name was on the tips of more than a few tongues. While I'm not smitten with her entire Spring/Summer 2010 collection — the concept is bleeding thinly into a few designers who've done similar silhouettes before. There are still more than a few pieces that I'd wear and each piece really does accentuate her skills, with the layering being the cherry topper. Just because it feels familiar, doesn't mean the collection isn't solid. Besides one can never get enough of masks, big/sculptured shoulders, and an all black ensemble. And I never tire of watching emerging designers find their point of view, that's part of why I support them. Katie's is peeking through in this collection, here's hoping it fully blooms in her next one. My picks below but do visit and explore more from this collection.

We have another awesome showroom visit for you! Nexus Showroom represents a few designers we adore, like Behnaz Kanani, Anaessia, Alexa Wagner and a few more we'll be introducing you too shortly! Ebony attended on my behalf so read her account below:

I had the pleasure of visiting Nexus Showroom on behalf of She Breathes and Ms. Shoo for their "Press Day". The entire staff was extremely inviting and knowledgeable of the diverse European collections they house. Focusing primarily on cutting edge and emerging designers from countries like France to Lithuania. There was an array of embellished couture frocks by Australian designer Anaessia, which immediately caught my eye. Her collection was a mix of couture style with use of vintage Chanel fabrics that yielded a very elegant and feminine look. Below are a few photos of her Spring/Summer 2010 collection, mostly the details because they are beyond gorgeous! — Ebony.

Breathable Links

So, I wanted to bring back the weekly links I use to do but stopped. I liked doing them because I often tweet about things but not everyone who reads SheBreathes follow the tweets. I was sharing them on the Spillover, but will bring them back here on a weekly basis for now.

Small Update:

I've hinted at this for over a year now, I tend to tweet about it more than I write about it, but I am now the Editor-in-Chief of a new magazine, which will be printed biannually starting next March. We have no plans to take it monthly and there will be an online companion just not in the capacity that most magazines work. I won't tell you what type of magazine it is but I will show you in January when we will release an "alternate" cover online with alternate content. I know a bit convoluted but I think you'll love it. If you've been reading SheBreathes for a while then you already have an idea of what it will be like. It is indeed how I see the world. Earlier this week we did a photoshoot with some models I've been pining over for a while, it was truly nerve-wrecking + a dream come true all wrapped in one, thus why the posts have been slow coming on here {sorry}. It was the type of editorial I wished my favourite magazines would do, but instead of constantly complaining and adding commentary, I took a good friend {who is the investor/Publisher} up on an offer and decided to change the things in the world of fashion + magazines that I don't like. We plan to bring you over 200 pages of inspiration! The shows I attended in Milan and Paris were for the magazine but I promise I'm working on a snippet of them to share on here, so stay tuned!

We have an awesome team thus far and without them none of this would be possible. I am so grateful to have a group of people who believe in the vision and want to see it come to fruition! But I never stop searching and I can't discover it all. Please submit your portfolios, lookbooks, writing samples etc to me at: ds@sejaismag.com.

I also wanted to add that the other most exciting part has been seeing the advertisers {yes there will be some but not many} who have purchased space based on a "mock-up" of the magazine + our media kit. Don't believe the hype when they say luxury brands don't advertise in diverse magazines, because we've seen the opposite. Perhaps it's the Obama effect, but I'd like to think it has everything to do with the people who are investing their time and creativity in the magazine. We have a major stylist working with us on the cover, it's insane. Just wait til you see who he is and who makes the cover! I'm excited but no worries SheBreathes isn't going anywhere. She still has a purpose ;)

Love + Dreams has been sufficiently updated and there is loads of Brasil like, the art showing I attended at Brasilian spa Maria Bonita in SoHo for artist Damon Johnson. Brasilian-French painter Isabelle Tuchband and Brasilian home decor haven Micasa's collaboration with designer Alexandre Herchcovitch.

HeBreathes is finally being updated {hint, hint, nudge} so visit and indulge, he's slowly building an arsenal of the utterly breathable for the lovely lads out there. I describe HeBreathes as "an ode to all the men I've loved before" and indeed it is.

I have a business crush on wait . . . Ivanka Trump, yes I do. I happen to like her and encourage my readers to pick-up her book. I will. I just think she's kinda dope. You might too.

Lush + Stacked | Albino Spring 2010 Accessories

I've featured Albino before so of course a revisit was in order since it's one of the Milan Spring 2010 shows I didn't see while in that lovely city a few weeks ago. I'm enamored with the stacked platforms, which I'm pretty sure were done before but the circa escapes me. Doesn't matter I'm diggin' the suede against the gold and brown, the big round sunglasses, shimmery sock stockings, and the chunky gold necklaces. I'd rock every single piece below! They can have their Wangs and Acne, give me Albino please!

Today's Blog the Closet is an ode to Italian designer Bruno Bordese and his decadently beautiful shoes. Ever since I purchased a pair of his shoes last year I've been hooked! Beauty | Backstage Beauty at Dolce & Gabbana + Giveaway

If you’re a beauty lover and lucky enough to attend a fashion week (New York, London, Milan or Paris) you’ll quickly learn that the backstage is your front stage! That was my experience this year by the end of the shows in New York. Although I wasn’t able to attend the shows in Milan, I felt that I had to make sure you all knew that the legendary makeup artist, Pat McGrath (pictured below), was the Creative Director for makeup for Dolce & Gabbana’s Spring 2010 collection.

According to Women’s Wear Daily, the theme for makeup and hair was “a passionate Latin woman” using words such as “Sicilian, sartorial and sensuality” for inspiration. The final makeup look resulted in a focus on the lips complemented with a soft eye.

Dolce & Gabbana actually collaborated with Pat McGrath earlier this year to create the makeup collection used backstage, with the complete range consisting of products for the face, eyes, lips and nails.

NYFW | Doo.Ri Spring 2010

I've been a fan of Doo. Ri Chung since the release of her first collection in 2003. The Parson's graduate always swept me away with her draping, which for a long time was her signature style. A season or so ago I kept asking myself where had all the draping gone in her collections but after having the pleasure of sitting through her Spring 2010 collection, this is no longer a concern of mines. Her draping skills are still there, just tighter and far more focused. See it was me who had to catch-up to her natural progression as a designer — and I'm glad I did. She literally took my breathe away with the opening piece, which was a quilted opal dress with sculpted shoulders. The dress looked deceptively simple but upon closer inspection it was nothing short of magnificent construction! What she sent out after that was all a delight in a "real women will wear these pieces way". She managed a collection filled with a play upon shapes rooted in reality. It was a beautiful array of grey, opal, cobalt, blush, tulle, and silver sequined pieces. Two of my favourite pieces {both deserve editorial dedications} was the blush petal dress with asymmetrical shoulder knot and the ruched grey tulle dress with silver sequins down the sides. Both screamed understated glamour with the bubble skirts overlaid with tulle and chains being the cherry toppers.

Master Crafter | Yohan Serfaty

French designer Yohan Serfaty is a master at manipulating leather to do whatever his imagination needs it to do. His leather coats and jackets are something you truly have to witness in person to understand why I lay such heavy adjectives upon him. From his womenswear and menswear collection you'd be hard pressed to find someone as meticulous as he is with leather. But please don't take my word for it visit his virtual space and explore all his collections, I'm more than sure you won't be disappointed.

The Essentials | Elsa

I love the vintage feel to the bags by accessories label Elsa, which was created by Belgian designer Els Proost and Italian designer Angelo Penazzato. Between the both of them they've worked for some of best designers around like, Dries Van Noten, Maison Martin Margiela and Hussein Chalayan. They not only offer bags, but shoes and belts too in an array of materials and colours, often merging unexpected elements and colours. The first bag reminds me of the kind my mum use to carry, which is why I'm so drawn to it. The pieces below are from their S/S 09 collection, which I couldn't resist sharing despite us being well into Fall. Visit + explore.

I haven't done a "discover" feature in a while and I love doing them! I'm always amazed that even in the age of the interwebs and my extensive travels, I still find amazing artist and designers to share on here. Artisan jewelry from Italian designer Marzia Rossi is one such discovery. She shows her pieces in art galleries throughout Europe and deserves a global audience. I was most drawn to her Stones collection, despite the hard surface she adds delicate elements, which is like a breath of femininity running through each piece. Her work is simply breathtaking and deserves to be explored, so visit and discover more.

Boutique Feature | Brook & Lyn Vintage Boutique

I have so much admiration for fashion blogger Mimi Jung of Brook & Lyn. Instead of hastily rushing into launching a possibly mediocre online boutique, she took her time and delivered an exceptional product. Born out of her love for fashion, Jung recently launched the Brook & Lyn boutique, which is an eclectic yet refined mix of gently used, new and vintage wears.

Brook & Lynn started out as normal fashion blog and rapidly evolved into a personal style blog due to the increasing number of hits from DIY and style photo posts. On a whim Jung posted a pair of Nina Ricci boots that were the wrong size and to her surprise they were sold in an hour! This began her diligent journey of launching the Brook & Lyn boutique. Over a six month period Jung immersed herself on everything she would need to know to operate a fully functioning e-commerce site.

On August 11th the Brook & Lyn boutique went live with much anticipation from her loyal readers, "I've never done anything so rewarding in my life. Every ounce of energy I put into my boutique comes back in spades," said Jung. Brook & Lyn boasts everything fashionistas are looking for in an online boutique. From the product details, unique packaging and beautiful selections you can almost feel Jung's passion exuding through the screen. Handpicking every item and vowing to never stock something that she can't personally see herself wearing lets you know just how passionate she is. Jung has future plans of expanding the shop to include foreign designers not yet available in the US to a small womenswear line. I'm convinced this is only the beginning for Brook & Lyn and Jung!

Hungarian Fashion Show | Open Air 8X10

During NYFW the Extremely Hungary organization and Arts | Brookfield Properties held a fashion show featuring couture collections from some of Hungary’s emerging designers like, Juis Suis Belle, Anh Tuan, and USE. On the last day of the event Ebony attended on behalf of SheBreathes and was able to capture a few photos. The models in the collections would pose while while they were photographed by photographers using rare 8x10 Polaroid cameras and polaroids were displayed in the International Center of Photography's glass cube gallery during NYFW. A longer feature on all the designers is coming and many thanks to Juis Suis Belle for inviting us!

NYFW | Vassilios Kostetsos Spring/Summer 2010

I wasn't completely smitten with Greek designer Vassilios Kostetsos' collection but I did find a few pieces that were more than editorial ready. While I totally blanked-out with the menswear collection the women's collection offered up some goodies, like sequined mini dresses, one-shoulder belted cuties, cropped jackets paired with the whole "no pants" trend going on right now, and the long and flowing. All in all I liked a lot of what I saw, he could've edited better — more short and sequined and less long and flowing. I wouldn't mind seeing what he does next season because the show worked and it was filled with delightful people with good energy — just hold the satin suits for men please.

Edmundo Castillo x Santoni Spring 2010

I couldn't resist sharing some of the looks from Edmundo Castillo's new gig, which is at Italian brand Santoni. Below are looks from the Spring 2010 collection, where Edmundo's signature style shines through — he loves the strappy, super skinny and the more details the better. I love to see him working, so congrats Edmundo and welcome back! I'm still hoping you return to your own label one day but I'll settle for you directing someone else's vision for now.

I really dig the patten leather jazzies, the Grecian details, and the first and last heels scream Edmundo! Remember it's all in the details and Edmundo is a master at getting the details right.

Showroom Visit | Be & D Spring 2010

Another visit Ms. Shoo had me attend on her behalf was to Be & D's showroom to see their Spring 2010 collection. For spring the duo have brought back their Garbo bag, which if you remember was relaunched last season when Ms. Shoo did an interview with them. Co-owner Steve Dumain kindly gave me a tour of their factory which shares space with their showroom. While the bags are manufactured in New York, the shoes are produced in Tuscany by skilled cobblers. All of the bags for spring are named and inspired by music like Woodstock, which is also a style that has been around for three seasons and is available with covered or open studs and in a new custom created color called Citrus. The shoes for spring also include their signature studs in various styles that Steve describes as "soft meets hard". All of Be & D bags are multifunctional and made from the softest leather around. One of highlight bags of the season is the new twist bag, which Steve said was reminiscent of the way love and romanticism interlocks, while dubbing the entire collection as "American 1940's/1950's with a modern twist". He also predicted three trends this season from the collection — the Fanny Pack, Bucket Bag in soft python and the Twist style bag. After being able to see the entire handbag and shoe collection in person I'm a fan for life and I can't wait to see what they come-up with next season. — Ebony

Nouveau Chic | Angel Schlesser

My love for Spanish designers goes deep, remember my coverage on Amaya Arzuaga back in March? Or José Miró in May and most recent Estrella Archs, who was recently named the head designer of Ungaro. Which brings me to designer Angel Schlesser's S/S 2010 collection, which is filled to the brim with modern twists on classic shapes. From the block of black on several of the pieces below to the strapless dresses and cropped leather jackets there is plenty of the easy, breezy and chic in his collection. The beauty is that much of what he showed is "no fuss" — just put it on and go and sometimes that's all you want from your clothes.

NYFW | Jeremy Laing Spring/Summer 2010

Jeremy Laing's Spring/Summer 2010 collection was probably my favourite collection of the entire season. I had so much fun capturing the clothes on the models at his Milk Studio presentation. My camera devoured every piece in his collection, thus why there are plenty of photos. The clothes against all that white was just pure perfection. The energy of the models and those in attendance made it one of the better shows of all I've seen. After capturing a few photos of the models all together I slipped behind a partition to capture the models being snapped for their official photos, which was exciting. I got to see how a lot the pieces moved on the model and it was wondrous. Laing's dresses draped around each model's body with perfect precision. There wasn't any stiffness in his collection, despite the models standing at attention. Even the cap sleeved perforated suede jacket moved with ease. Architectural silhouettes, vanishing point prints, asymmetrical layers, the pale blue, black, nude {wood grained}, it was all so serene, but not overwhelming. Overall this was an assertive collection, one that I will indulge in because it embodied that quiet power I love so much. Thank you Jeremy for the beautiful journey!

NYFW | Leifsdottir Spring 2010

Leifsdottir a label sold at Anthropologie held their Spring 2010 presentation offsite but that didn't stop them from transforming the space they chose into a wonderland of the pretty and sugary. Tamra attended on my behalf and I joined her right before my next show at the tents. There were loads of pretty frilly pieces like, silk and cotton dresses and blouses, a textured metallic vest, a monkey forest cotton skirt, draped linen shorts, and a few more lovely pieces on hangers that all screamed feminine chic. What they presented appeals to the majority of us because it's pretty and wearable, not to mention they had one of the cutest invites of all these season. It was also nice to see Danielle, one of my favourites from ANTM working.

Wishlist | Khirma Eliazov

I'm loving these over-sized bags from designer Khirma Eliazov, especially the organic cotton canvas and leather one in taupe and royal blue. I've been lusting after them for a while and think for the hols I will treat myself. Based on the dimensions they would indeed fit everything — perfect for busy girls with busy lives. Visit and explore because you might just find something that you fancy as well. Remember dreaming doesn't cost anything and these are worth dreaming after.

And of course a detail shot that solidifies why it's a "must have" in my book.

NYFW | Arise Promise of Africa Collective Spring/Summer 2010

After my coverage of the Arise Africa Fashion Show in South Africa and Arise magazine, I knew I had to attend their show at NYFW. The show was exciting and filled to capacity. Luckily for me I was seated but still had to do crouching tiger and hidden dragon moves to capture some decent photos and really wished I could've captured the details of each piece – they were beautiful. This show had some of the best music of all the shows I've attended and the energy of seeing Arlenis, Sessilee, Tao, Oluchi, Coco, Tyson, Lakshmi, Chanel Iman, and so many more strut down that runway was just amazing. It featured the most diverse group of models I've seen in a long time. The show opened with Lisa Folawiyo's Jewel by Lisa, which was very "Afro-chic" in the city, with mustard being the dominate colour, plenty of batik silk dresses with crystal and beaded details, and Ankara prints.

Tapping on Lisa's heels was Tiffany Amber, whose colours was said to be inspired by Nigerian artist Kolade Oshinowo. There was plenty of beautiful flowing silk chiffon dresses, volume and billowy sleeves and there was no mistaking her other inspiration — Diana Ross in Mahogany.

Eric Raisina followed-up with an equally inspiring collection of beautiful hues and textures, like red, orange, dark aubergine, and yellow as colour choices. There was plenty of crocheted, pleated, and ribbon stitched pieces. Chanel Iman opened the show in a red fringed halter neck top and silk layered shorts, the other highlight was a multicolored layered fringed dress with a cape, and the orange and pink layered silk asymmetrical dress that Lakshmi closed in. This collection was probably my favourite out of them all.

The closing designer was David Tlale who explored Africa's rich cultural landscape with draped dresses and African cow horns, and brocade suit with structured pants, and creme and taupe dresses, it was a nice topper to all the designer's presented.

I've had Yazbukey on standby until I finished all my fashion weeks but I couldn't resist sharing design duo Yaz and Emel's work now. While there has been a huge trend in corded jewelry I was enamored by their take because it's much more than novelty and they have a wicked sense of humour. The corded details intertwined with metal rings and steel, 3D depictions, plexiglass and the black, white, and grey colour choices is what you'll find in their plentiful offerings. Fashion Diary | NYFW in Hindsight

My dear lovely, lovely, lovely readers. You have come to enjoy timely features from me and those I ask to participate on SheBreathes, but I must make a confession. I am tired, sick, and stuck in my hotel room in London. Let me back up, this is no Nyquil induced confessional it's just straight-up honesty. One of the very reasons why I never partook in the daily chronicling of any fashion week is because it can and will wear you down. This season I was a bit ambitious in my need to prove to myself that despite the lack of a "machine" behind me I could cover these shows like any "big" outlet. This in hindsight was a major no-no. The bloody buggers have won and I sit back and laugh nyquil out of my nose at the insanity of it all. I have run myself haggard, to the point of sleep induced nightmares of "capturing the right shot", which has become a re-occurring nightmarish dream.

The hotel doctor has ordered me to sleep and down plenty of fluids and a follow-up visit in a few days. Goldie is here but even he is less than enthused, not by fashion but the "race" to the finish line. Dare I say that if I don't feel better by Monday then the love of my life and auntie {who has been checking in on me hourly} have ordered me home. I'm sure the airline, which barely let me on their plane will be none-to-happy with the infected one returning. All in the name of fashion eh? I haven't conceded just yet, but it was far more fun when a few shows was sufficient for me, but monstrous appetites will bring you to your knees. I am not that "editor" and probably never will be, not that I ever thought I was, but dreaming big doesn't mean we have to lose sight of reality. And let me state I rarely liked the idea of calling myself an "editor" but that's another confession and I'm digressing. I am one person and one person only, with some awesome people who helped this season. But I promise to make all of this up to you next season, where daily chronicling will be mastered and there won't be a backlog of shows to report on. I promise. Or it could be the Nyquil talking.

Some think the idea of fashion week is pure fun but honestly I find it a bit nerve-wrecking. The concern when none of your photos are usable {Ports1961, Tibi, Custo, Galindo}. Some PR send photos after the show, but for me there is nothing like showing the personal captures. Of course one can always revert back to right-clicking on Style. Oh the things I didn't worry about a season or so ago. Then sadness ensues when you miss shows like Mark Fast and the size 14 models controversy, or Mary Katranzou's collection because you've been sick-sleeping since you landed. Or you get invites from shows in NY late, that's always fun. But I'm cool with knowing that one person, even 3 can't cover it all nor should they try. That's what style.com is for.

You will always need a better flash to combat ambiance and overbooking of shows, elbows and handbags in the back of your head because you're in the last row seats. I've discovered that 3rd row right of stage is way better than 3rd row left at the tents. I'm still mastering the offsites. Milk was perfect for beautiful photography, because most were presentations that I attended, which is always better in terms of rogue photography. And sometimes being that annoying person who stands gets you the shot you need at the tents . . . sometimes.

A pro photographer with a press pass will alleviate the issue of better photos next season, that way I can enjoy and just tweet my thoughts, which is a new form of note taking.

Pardon my violin playing but I couldn't help since just a few days ago I was healthy and upbeat.

So if I shared fotos that aren't up to style.com or getty images standard forgive me, because once upon a time one went to the shows quietly, wrote about them or took notes on pieces they wanted to use in an editorial. I'm new to this sharing part but again promise to do better next time and will take better care of myself with all that running from the tents to offsite shows, while the weather went from hot to cool in a matter of hours.

NYFW | Toni Maticevski Spring 2010

Australian designer Toni Maticevski showed his Spring 2010 collection at the Altman building bringing an artsy romantic feel to the space. There was loads of textures and plenty of tulle, satin blouses, and skirts that hugged the body in all the right places. The paint-splattered treatment on several pieces were just one of many decorative ways he played-up the pieces throughout this collection. The cotton tank paired with the a silk organza skirt was the cherry topper. Maticevski's fanciful and couture-like take on spring overshadowed any misplaced pieces in this collection, which were few and far between the pretty. NYFW | Ohne Titel Spring 2010

Ohne Titel was featured on here long before many knew their name and I've been watching their beautiful rise ever since. Alexa Adams and Flora Gill are receiving much deserved press and editorials for their well made collections and now the duo are CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalist. What they showed for their Spring 2010 collection proved they're more than ready to take the throne. There were loads of body-con pieces, like silk blazers paired with embroidered dresses or the skinniest of trousers, with beautiful pops of red, black, and electric blue as the colour palette {see the full collection here}. But it was the tailoring of each piece, which is their signature style that had me swooning. These ladies know how to make pieces that are sharp with a romantic edge that can go from the runway to your closet.

NYFW | Alexandre Herchcovitch Spring 2010

Brasilian designer Alexandre Herchcovitch presented his Spring 2010 collection last night, which was also the same collection he presented back in June during São Paulo Fashion Week. I was intrigued back in June, but held off sharing an opinion hoping he'd show it here in New York, or at least some of the pieces — I got my wish! The football {not futebol/soccer} inspired collection had plenty of wearable pieces — from the uniformed style dresses, tight and sporty pants paired with multicoloured nylon tops, lace-trimmed dresses, color-blocked rubber dresses, and blouses that mimicked jerseys worn by football players. He closed the show with his infamous caged style dress and skirt which pushed the shape envelope and were a delight to see up close. Herchcovitch presented a show that took NYFW beyond sportswear and into a realm that intertwined art with wearable pieces. Another anticipated show that I thoroughly enjoyed.

NYFW | Poleci Spring/Summer 2010

Poleci {pronounced Policy} presented their Spring/Summer 2010 collection at their boutique in the Meatpacking district on Saturday. It was a nice intimate presentation that filled to capacity pretty quickly. I focused more on the details because Poleci is an awesome brand for beautiful and wearable separates. The brand is now headed by Jeffrey Chow and he showed a wide array of looks, from draped dresses, slouchy trousers, cropped jackets and shorts, to sequined and satin blouses. There was one piece in the collection — a black/white printed romper that intrigued me because while it looked comfortable it also looked like a diaper. The model told me she was comfortable in it, but I'm not sure many women can pull the look off without garnering deep stares. Overall Poleci offered a refined and relaxed collection with pieces that transition well from day to night.

NYFW | Carlos Miele Spring/Summer 2010

Carlos Miele's show was probably one of the most anticipated shows for me, because well he's Brasilian and my love of those from my country runs deep. The show began with models standing at the entrance of the runway giggling while whistles sounded off and beautiful Brasilian music played in the background. With drums thumping to a familiar beat and models doing that magical dance they do, Miele's Spring/Summer 2010 collection came down the runway and it didn't disappoint! There was plenty of floor-length silk chiffon dresses, charmeuse minis, pleated boleros, silk "dreadlocked" details on vests, cropped wool pants, snake print dresses — with the colour palette going from pink and guava to black and nude. Miele also injected loads of black into this collection, which is perfect when you're looking for separates to complete an outfit. Miele remains one of the designer's from Brasil that keeps offering the unexpected while maintaining his roots within each collection.

NYFW | Spurr Spring 2010

Spurr, a menswear label by designer Simon Spurr held their Spring 2010 presentation at the start of NYFW and Goldie {menswear editor} and I attended. The collection was a beautiful mix of elegant, luxurious and casual pieces, with inspiration being taken from vintage Helmut Newton photographs and the 70's. There were some beautiful pastel shirts and wool/silk combination suits in traditional silhouettes with a twist — slim and wide leg pants. The deerskin weekend bag, nylon trench coats, along with the denim selection pulled this collection into beautiful sophistication that screamed tres chic. NYFW | Karen Walker Spring 2010

When Ms. Shoo informed me that I would be attending Karen Walker's Spring 2010 show I was beyond ecstatic. I refer to Walker as the queen of the mash-up. She has the ability to mix and match prints without making it appear overwhelming. The classic 1960's film The Prisoner was the leading inspiration for Walker's Spring 2010 collection. A seaside holiday resort that serves as a prison for retired spies combined with trippy sixties psychedelia became the perfect starting point for a Karen Walker range. Shrunken blazers, polka dots, nautical stripes, layered ruffles and a bright yellow anorak were some of the key looks. Walker also debuted her collaboration with British shoemaker Pointer. A classic yellow, white and brown boat shoe from the collaboration was one of the signature pieces for the show. — Ebony
