Tata Motors says no material impact from Pune plant shut down. The shutdown was done due to short supply of fuel injection pumps. The company says production cannot continue due to unavailibility of pumps. In order to avoid glut, plant has been shut down. It will start in full stream once problem is rectified at suppliers end.

Suzlon Energy plans to repay USD 850 mn debt from RE Power – 5th November 09

Suzlon Energy has planned to repay the USD 850 million debt, which incurred from the RE Power and Hansen acquisition. The company is also going to hike RE Power’s stake by 9%. RE Power’s equity & assets will be given as collateral. Suzlon’s promoters will bring in USD 35 million to re-finance the debt. Axis Bank and SBI will refinance USD 465 million, while Barclays, ICICI Bank would re-finance USD 350 million for Suzlon Energy.

At least 12 passengers sustained minor injuries when 11 coaches of the Gandhidham-Bengaluru Express derailed near Dombivili here early Wednesday, a railway official said.

“The incident occurred around 2 am near Dombivli on the single-line Vasai-Diva section which links the Western Raiwlay and Central Railway,” said an official of the railway control room.

Of the 11 coaches that derailed, at least two overturned and got badly damaged in the incident.

MUMBAI: Captain Gopinath, pioneer of low-cost flying in India, will start his second innings in aviation by launching a dedicated air cargo business, branded Deccan 360, on Wednesday in Nagpur.

Mr Gopinath has already invested Rs 125 crore in the cargo venture Deccan Express, and needs to raise an additional Rs 150 crore. The venture would hire about 5,000 people in five years. In the first phase, the company plans to appoint 100 franchisees and each franchisee will hire 10 people. It will fly three Airbus A310 planes and seven smaller ATR planes to connect 17 Indian cities and international destinations like Dubai and Hong Kong.

With not much finance coming to fund his cargo venture due to the slowdown, Mr Gopinath sold his stake in Kingfisher Airlines to raise funds.
