My life is chaotic to say the least i have become so busy with work and  being a mum doesnt leave much time to blog or sew. As much as i wanted to launch Sew Chic and Unique (my online business) i honestly dont see it happening anytime soon.

Many of you who follow my journey of launching my business know how passionate i am about it. However, there comes a time when you are faced with hard decisions and you have to decide what is important in your life and put other things on hold to focus all your energy on what needs to get done.

Confused much? ( i know you are probably thinking what all this has got to do with her marriage?)

Let me explain…. Back in June of 2003 I got married, in September 2005 gave birth to our first daughter Hadeel and in January 2008 we were blessed with our second daughter Dania. Approx 8 months ago my marriage of 9 years ended (this coming June 2013 we would have celebrated 10 years of marriage.

I really dont want to go into too much detail for private reasons however i have made a video on this subject which you can watch below

I was asked why i decided to share this personal matter with the world?

Simpy because i was requested to make videos with my husband such as the husband tag, many of my subscribers also wanted to meet my husband as i had already introduced my daughters so it was only natural that thier father would be next. So i wanted to clear the air and decided that making a video about it would get the message across. I also wanted to highlight the fact that being divorced is not something to be ashamed of. I wouldn’t scream it at the top of the mountain but i wouldn’t hide it either. Unfortunately in the society i live in a divorced woman is seen differently, she is the hot topic of the week if not month, everyone thinks they know your story when the truth is that they have no idea.

Divorce is simply the end of marraige, just like death is the end of life.  And we all know that NOTING in life lasts forever and that is a fact. We simply have to make the best of what we have and accept the path that Allah has planned for us because i truly believe that Allah knows best.

Before i end this i just wanted to explain that i have decided to put my dreams of owning a business on hold to concentrate on what is important, being the best mother i can to my daughters. Thing is my girls are young and they need thier mama more now than ever before, i am no longer a wife but i am a mother and i want to be the BEST mother i can to them because they deserve it.

Thank you to all those who have showered me with messages supporting me and believing in me, no words can express how happy i am to have support from people whom i have never met. I am truly blessed, alhamdulilah.

Not many people will understand your vision and that is OK, because in reality the only person who needs to believe in you is you!

Every day i wake up and say to myself “Today i am going to do what i love”  can you guess what it would be?

hehe yups, it would involve me spending time with my sewing machine.  Ever since i started working full time  i barely get time to sew, when i get home i tend to spend it with the girls and come bed time i am so tried i tend fall asleep when reading the girls their bed time story LOL

My life as i know it has changed dramatically and i am OK with that. However i know have priorities which i need to take care of and because of that i don’t get time to do much of what i love. What keeps me going is that i remind myself that as much as i want to be super woman or super human as some might say. The fact of the matter is i am human a very busy one too and there is only so much i can do in the day, so i do what i can and the rest well tomorrow is another day!

I have to be honest as much as i love sewing it is not the only thing i miss, i also miss blogging and making videos fr my YouTube channel. In an ideal world i would have a plan and in that plan i would specify days to do complete each task.  That way i get to do what i want to do on a regular basis, hmm having said that, it actually sounds like a good idea! (I like how i think sometimes lol, giving myself some advice).

But guess what that is a task in itself which i will leave for tomorrow hehe off to bed before i fall asleep on my laptop LOL

Today i am going to show you how you can recycle the jars!

Its pretty simple really, once you’ve used up the candle pop the jar in the freezer for a couple of hours. The cold atmosphere shrinks the wax which makes it super easy to remove from the glass.

However some pieces of wax do remain but nothing plain old clothes washing power cant get rid of.

I also uploaded a video about it on my channel.

Since i have so many of these jars and running out of ideas of what i could use them for, any suggestions?

Not only are these pancakes fluffy and delicious but they are quick and easy to make. So easy that the girls always join me in the kitchen to make them.  Dania my 5 year old knows all the ingredients!

If you follow me on Instgram you probably have seen several pictures of these pancakes hehe however in my last one i was requested to share the recipe, so here it is.

-3/4 cup butter milk but if you dont have any you can use this method to make your own ( i use white vinegar to make mine)

This recipe makes about 4-5 pancakes which is enough for the girls and i. However you can easily double the amount and make more!

To make the batter in a bowl combine the eggs, sugar and vanilla. Beat either with a whisk or a hand beater until frothy.

Melt the butter and add it to the mixture followed by the butter milk. Finally add the flour.

To cook them you can use either oil or butter (i use both!) Have it on medium to low heat, pour the batter and flip it when you see some bubbles form on the top. The other side is cooked when its nice brown!

Voila! My girls loving having theirs with nutella, i enjoy mine with honey or a sprinkle of vanilla sugar YUM!

Recently i have had to deal with some pretty big changes in my life which explains my absence in the last couple of months. However i believe that with each obstacle we overcome we almost always tend to learn something from it.

Life can sometimes put you in very hard situations, its as if Allah is testing you and like with any test you take  regardless if you pass or fail you always feel  better for having taken the test. If you fail at least you know what to expect and will do better next time and if you passed well you deserved it cause clearly you were prepared for it!

Regardless of what is happening in your life at the moment, you have to remember that you are not alone and whatever it is that you are going through is temporary.  We all go through difficult times at some point in our lives but we shouldn’t let that moment define who we are and/or our outlook in life.

I truly believe that happiness is something we should all try and work on having in our lives because the opposite of it is not an option.

I have decided to start a new series on my YouTube Channel “The World Through My Eyes” and choose to start the series talking about about Happiness.

However it seems my followers on instagram (@thesewist) love food LOL as i posted these pictures while i was preparing the cheese puffs earlier this evening  and i had them all craving for it to the point i got requested to share the recipe.

To make my tomato cheese puff you will need:

Puff pastry squares

Cheddar cheese (cut in thin slices)

Tomato (thinly sliced)

Chives

1 Egg

- Remove the puff pastry from the freezer and allow to thaw for approx 10 mins or until it is soft and you are able to bend the edges without it breaking.

- At this point i would switch the oven on to about 160 C so its nice and hot.

- Place the square at a diagonal like diamond so the pointed edges are facing you (like in the pic above). Put  in layers put the cheese slices, then the tomato (i only use one slice in each puff), sprinkle some chives fold the edges and give it a pinch of its holds together.

- Make sure your baking tray is slightly oiled and place them on the tray. Pop them in the oven for approx 15-20 mins and voila!

- Lightly brush some egg on the puff to get the nice brown color.

See told you it was easy and takes approx 30 mins from preparing it to eating it!

You can try substituting the fresh tomatoes with sun dried tomatoes, add some mushrooms, turkey bacon, pepperoni i mean its a matter of what you are in the mood for really.
