The (brief) Story of LinkedIn

I recently came across the LinkedIn story written by CNN a few months ago. I always find it interesting to read about how start-ups come to be, what motivates their founders and what keeps them going. The LinkedIn story is particularly interesting in that perspective.

MySQL Performance Tuning: The Video

What is one of the largest bottlenecks of any given web application? The database tier of course! While the database tier is never the most exciting aspect of an application, it is by far one of the most important (and most often neglected) pieces in the overall web application stack.

A Few Things about PHP 5.3

Recently we upgraded our development environment to the latest and greatest stable version of PHP 5.3. Of course with almost any update come the usual questions of what is backwards compatible, what has been deprecated and what flat out will break your carefully crafted software.

Cool Cable Management Ideas

Solid cable management is just one of those things that never seems to work right. No matter how hard you try to keep your computer cables neat and tidy, they always seem to come out as a snarled, entangled mess.

Making Way for HTML 5

In case you haven't heard yet, XHTML is going the wayside in favor of the new standard HTML5. While the pros and cons of XHTML vs HTML5 have been debated back and forth all over the web, the most feverish seems to be around the new video tag.
