Building a visual brand for We Shoot Cocktails

My most recent project has been to create a visual brand for We Shoot Cocktails. Building a brand doesn’t consist of just a logo, it consist of graphic elements that relate to your brand and can be seen across multiple mediums. The mediums that I have explored to build this brand were in poster designs, promotional items, stationary, website, blog design, and social networks.

The name of the company is We Shoot Cocktails. It’s as straight forward as can be, so the design needed to reflect that. Each word in the name has a graphical equivalent and each graphic adds up to exactly what we do. Two people + a camera+ a cocktail= cocktail photography, a low cost cocktail photography service that helps bartenders and mixologist promote their recipes.

Featured in Creattica the business cards were printed 4/4 and die cut corners round.

The website design was a great way to really conceptualize what the business is about in words. Here we had to play the role of a copywriter and think of creative copy lines to promote the company. This led to the birth of the company’s philosophy: Fresh Ingredients, Natural Colors, and Clean Techniques.

With our philosophy conceptualized it was time to represent it visually. The idea is that We Shoot Cocktails does every photo shoot with fresh juices and garnishes. The ingredients we use bring out the natural colors that a cocktail should have. Finally, we do this with the latest technology that keep these photos looking and feeling fresh and clean.

Next we had to think about different ways that one might use our photographs. I designed these give away cards to show the two packages we promote. The first two photos are our “Call Package“. This package is your signature cocktail shot on a white or black seamless background. We visually show why one would want a call package shot, it can be used for promo items like posters and business cards.

Our second package is called “Top Shelf Package“. This package is your signature cocktail styled in an environment with props. Examples we show are possible book and magazine cover designs.

All these things put together plus some screen printed shirts that I did myself.

Also hosting a contest on twitter. We teamed up with Chilled Magazine to create a cocktails and tweet contest. The lucky winner will be selected randomly and win a free photo shoot done by We Shoot Cocktails to promote their work.

Animoto.com is a great new site that lets you create motion graphics with still images. It’s an easy and inexpensive way to finally stream together old photos or build a professional reel. They have a free test video you can create and I tried it with some of my illustrations that I have been wanting to do something with. Check it out!

Krop Portfolio

Self promotion is always a tough thing to keep up with. Krop.com has come out with a creative database and yes I joined. It is one of the better designed sites to place a portfolio but I’m not sure how well it will do in google searches. Visit it at krop.com/seven350
