Hello everyone!

Happy new year to you all!

Just wanted to let you know about a special deal being offered by Celtic Connections at the moment!

The deal is £5 tickets for under 26s and is for 26 selected events which includes the Session A9 concert on the 26th January! Grab them while you can as they are selling fast!

We have 2 radio broadcasts being recorded during Celtic Connections for the Global Gathering show and also Irelands RTE radio show so keep an ear out for those!

We go into the studio in February to begin work on the new album so we are all very excited about that. The album will be released later in the year. Watch this space!

We have 2 UK dates in March including a special concert at the Paisley Abbey on the 23rd and the Hawick Festival on the 24th. Check the gig section of the website here for details.

New dates announced!

Hello there!

Just a short news post to say we have some dates to tell you about.

We have a big tour in May playing up and down the country so we are looking forward to that very much! :)

Following the May tour we are playing the Stonehaven Folk Festival in July as well as some other things in the pipeline so check back for details on the "gig" section of the website.

New album available for sale!

Hello there!

Just a wee update to say the brand new "live" album entitled "One for the Road", recorded at Eden Court in Inverness during our February tour, is now available from the website!

The album features some brand new material as well as some old favourites!

We have recently been on tour in the UK which went very well indeed! It was good to get back to some of the venues we have not been at for a while as well as getting to some new ones! Thanks to all for having us and for looking after us so well. Hopefully see you again soon!

In addition to the UK tour we also had a fantastic trip to the Galdames Folk Festival in the Basque country!

A big thanks to Actos and to the Galdames Festival for having us and for the great food and wine!

We have a few plans for 2011 so check the website soon for details!

A busy start to 2010!

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to the latest Session A9 news update!

We have had a busy start to the year. It kicked off at the Celtic Connections festival in Glasgow when we were involved in a fantastic project called "A Scottish Songbook". Session A9 were part of the house band in the project which featured fantastic singers from a range of genres covering a great variety of songs from new to old. Great fun was had by all!

Following that we made a return to the festival to play our own concert at the Fruitmarket. The concert was a sell out and it gave us the chance to play some new material we have been working on. We really enjoyed the gig and it was great to have ex Session A9 member, the brilliant Kris Drever who opened the show come up for a couple of numbers.

We then set off on a 2 week tour of the UK. It was great to have such a fantastic turn out for the gigs, especially since many of the gigs were in new places for us! Thanks to all the venues and organisers for putting on the concerts and thanks also to everyone who came out to support them. Hopefully we will see you again sometime soon!

Next we set off for the Shetland Folk Festival at the end of April which looks like it will be a cracker! its the 30th anniversary of the festival so check it out if you havent been there before. Its a great weekend! www.shetlandfolkfestival.com

We have a good few things planned throughout the year with various festivals at both home and abroad and also we have another extensive tour of the UK in October. Please check the Gig section from time to time to see what we are up too! :)

Session A9 nominated for award!

Hi everyone!

Hope your all well!

Session A9 have been nominated for an award at the 2009 Scottish Trad Music awards. The nomination is in the "Live Act of the Year" category and if you fancy voting you can do so at:

Voting closes on the 20th of November.

We had a great night on Friday the 13th at the Scots Fiddle Festival which is held in the Assembly Rooms, Edinburgh.

We were part of the "Heat the Hoose" concert also featuring Beólach & Dannsa who were brilliant! A great night was had by all!

A big thanks to all the organisers for the great job in organising such a fantastic weekend.

The Fiddle Festival was also a chance to air some new material we have been working on recently at a rehearsal weekend we had in October. We were lucky to get the use of the fantastic facilities at the beautiful Inschriach House Estate near Aviemore which was a very inspiring place to rehearse indeed!

We are all looking forward to the next one! :-)

It will be a very busy start to 2010 for Session A9.

It all kicks off on the 16th of January at Celtic Connections where Session A9 will be the house band for a very special concert called "A Scottish Song Book". The concert will feature some of Scotlands finest singers from a variety of genres singing "folk standards to pop classics, leftfield cult anthems to Gaelic ballads".

On the 29th of January Session A9 will play the Old Fruitmarket in a concert alongside the brilliant Kris Drever, a great friend and ex Session A9 member so we are really looking forward to that one!

Session A9 new website and "Session A9 and Beyond" tour!

Hello everyone!

Hope your all well and having a great 2009 so far.

We brought in 2009 on stage at the Perth Concert Hall playing at the Hogmany celebrations Pyrotechnics and all!! Everyone was in great fettle and it was a great way to bring in 2009!

We have a brand new website we would like to tell you about!

The site has just gone live this week and we are delighted with the final design!

Session A9 and Beyond!

Session A9 are getting ready for a big tour in Scotland in June. The "Session A9 and Beyond" tour was kindly assisted by Tune-Up Scotland and will enable us to reach some of the more remote venues around Scotland as well as the established. We are delighted to have special guest, Daire Mulhern, a fantastic button box player from Ireland joining us on the tour. Please check out our Gigs page to see the details!
