3rd Day - Christology: "You must trust Jesus Christ and be born again to see the kingdom of God"

A. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life..."

If we present this passage without understanding the previous and succeeding verses then it will not be clear to us the real meaning of salvation.

"...For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him."

Jesus Christ came to this world to saves us, only through Him and no one else.

"...Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God."

People are condemned already due to their sinfulness "For the wages of sin is death.." Romans 6:23a and "The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law."1 Cor 15:56

Not believing on Jesus Christ doesn't remove you from judgment and punishment of God. You are still liable of what you did against the Law. There is no excuse that you didn't hear the Gospel.

"And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed."

You see, it explains and presents that there is a sin issue about man; how he loves darkness and evil deeds. Good thing Jesus Christ is the light to show us how wretched we are. He is also there to redeem us on that fearful condemnation. If that truth is not clear to you then you will not understand the power and meaning of salvation; to have eternal life in the kingdom of God.

"...But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.” John 3:16-21 ESV

A true believer will always live in truth and in line with Gods will.

B. "...unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God."

Nicodemus, a teacher of the Law, respected and admired by the people. In which they adhere the truth that comes from his teachings was been rebuked by Jesus Christ about the truth of the kingdom of God.

Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3 ESV

Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’

The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.” John 3:5-8

Nicodemus said to him, “How can these things be?” Jesus answered him, “Are you the teacher of Israel and yet you do not understand these things? John 3:9-10ESV

In this chapter it shows the two essential truth in the Gospel of Jesus Christ that you must be born again and to trust Jesus Christ.

First, when we said born again it means a new life in Christ. The Spirit that comes from God when we became a believer of Christ. This truth was emphasize in the Gospel presentation of the apostles in the early years of Christianity. That the believers who are in Christ must live a new life in holiness, and turn his back from his old sinful life. (2 Cor.5;17)

Second, to solely trust on Jesus Christ alone. His work on the redemption of man from the condemnation of hell and Gods wrath.

"He who comes from above is above all. He who is of the earth belongs to the earth and speaks in an earthly way. He who comes from heaven is above all. Whoever receives his testimony sets his seal to this, that God is true. For he whom God has sent utters the words of God, for he gives the Spirit without measure. The Father loves the Son and has given all things into his hand. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him." John 3:31, 33-36 ESV

"And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him may have eternal life." John 3:14-15 ESV

Whoever believes (trusting fully) on Christ will have eternal life but for those who are not will remain condemned in hell. Only because of Gods mercy that we are still alive and if the Lord will release us, we will go directly in hell if we don't have Jesus Christ in our lives. Thats is why we appeal to you and taking time to share this great news about Jesus Christ.

Our Father who art in heaven, we greatly rejoice for the salvation you planned and given to us. Its by grace that we are save through faith in Jesus Christ. Thank you for giving us the Holy Spirit for sanctifying us and to live a holy life. in the mighty name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen

2nd Day - Christology: ...In three days I will raise it up!

"Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up!"

Starting the chapter 2 of the book of John when Jesus performed his first miracle about the wine in the wedding in Cana. This shows an early sign of his glory that the disciples witnessed. It signifies later on that the best wine is the blood of Jesus Christ that cleanse and purify his bride, the Church.

From the early stage of his ministry fast-forward to the scene in the passover, the week of Jesus Christ passion. Shows to us his anger about disrespecting the temple of God. He declared and answered the Jews "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up!"

"But he was speaking about the temple of his body. When therefore he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the Scripture and the word that Jesus had spoken." John 2:21-22 ESV

Showing to us in the succeeding chapter of the book that Jesus Christ destroyed the actual temple that time and when He died on the cross, He rose again in 3 days. It signifies His glorious resurrection and life on every believers who trust in Him.

Take note in the last verses of this chapter the Jesus told us that He knew the hearts of men. That we normally believe on what we only see but our believing is superficial and temporary; we need to really seek and humble ourselves to Him, confess and turn away from our sins and experience the joy that we have in Jesus.

Dear Lord, our Saviour and redeemer. We humble ourselves in your presence. Thank you for shedding your blood that purify us in our unrighteousness . Forgive us for our shallow understanding of the Gospel. We are glad that because you live and conquer death we can face tommorow and live victorious in your name. In Jesus name we pray. Amen

1st Day - Christology: And the Word was God

I'm so thankful to the Lord because he enabled me and my mama(mother) to start our Bible study together even we are away to each other. Its a 21-day program to understand Christology, one chapter a day in the Book of John. To share to her the word of God in a deeper understanding of the Gospel and the deity of Jesus Christ. I praise Him for this and I pray that we will understand the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and later will manifest in our lives.

Jesus Christ was in the begining.
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God." John 1:1-2 ESV

All things were made through him.
"All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made." John 1:3 ESV

"He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him." John 1:10 ESV

He was light and life.

"In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it."

"The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world." John 1:4-5, 9 ESV

The Word became flesh and He dwell among us.

"And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth." John 1:14 ESV

"For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father’s side, he has made him known." John 1:17-18 ESV

The sacrificial Lamb of God for our transgressions.

"The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!" John 1:29 ESV

Adoption of God

"But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God." John 1:12-13 ESV

Dear Lord, Thank you for starting the fire of your word into our hearts. The zealousness of reading and understanding your word, to give us hope in the future and a assurance of life. I pray for your guidance and protection against failure and temptation, to overcome evil. Father I lift everything to your name,our salvation and life. In Jesus mighty name. Amen

The Second Word of Jesus Christ:

“I assure you; today you will be with me in paradise.”

³⁹One of the criminals who were hanged railed at him,^[ ^d^] saying, “Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us!” ⁴⁰But the other rebuked him, saying, “Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? ⁴¹And we indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.” ⁴²And he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” ⁴³And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.” Luke 23:39-43 ESV

Reflection

As Jesus was hung on the cross, he was mocked by the people, soldiers and the leaders. One of the criminals being crucified with him added his own degree of scorn. But the other crucified criminal recognized that Jesus was being treated unjustly and realizing His nature being. After speaking up for Jesus, he cried out, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom” (v. 42). Jesus responded to this criminal, “I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise” (v. 43).

To understand and appreciate the promise of Jesus; The word paradise, from the Greek word “paradeisos”, which means “garden,” was used in the Greek Old Testament as a word for the Garden of Eden. In Judaism of the time of Jesus it was associated with heaven, and also with the future when God would restore all things to the perfection of the Garden. Paradise was sometimes thought to be the place where righteous people went after death. This seems to be the way Jesus uses paradise in this passage.

My dear brothers and sisters, we were like that dying thief. We were under the just condemnation of the law. We had sinned against God and his law. Perhaps we had even mocked God and Christ. We were rebels against God and his holiness. We were not interested in God or the things of God.

But then, by a miracle of God’s grace, our hearts were changed, and we realized that the One who was crucified was none other than the Lord of Glory and Life. And we cried out in words similar to the words of the dying thief, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”

Though we should make every effort to have right theology, and though we should live our lives each day as disciples of Jesus, in the end, our relationship with him comes down to simple trust. “Jesus, remember me,” we cry in humility and repentance. And Jesus, embodying the mercy of God, says to us, “You will be with me in paradise.”

“God is so merciful and gracious, that our faith in Him is a result of putting our whole trust in Jesus as our Lord and Savior.”

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you,”1 Peter 5:6 ESV

Questions for Reflection

Have you risked your life for Jesus? Have you put your ultimate faith and trust on him? Are you sure that, when you die, you will be with him in paradise? If not then this is the time to submit our lives to Him.

Prayer

Let us pray, Dear our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; how wonderful your grace and mercy! When we humble ourselves and cry out to you, you hear us. When we ask you to simply remember us in hopelessness, you offer the promise of paradise. Your mercy, dear Lord, exceeds anything we might imagine. It embraces us, heals us and loves us. O Lord, though my situation is so different from the criminal who cried out to you, I am nevertheless quite like him. I’m a sinner who needs a serious help. In repentance and humility I submit to you my life and my hope. Today I live, trusting you and you alone. And so I pray: Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom! Jesus, remember me today as I humbly seek to live in your kingdom! Amen.

Protect our hearts

Let us always guard our hearts on anything because everything springs on this. If we allowed fear, doubts, violence, pride, pornography, greed, money, idol, senselessness, foolishness and anything wicked it will later manifest in our behavior, actions and lifestyle.

Our Lord Jesus said in Matthew 5:27-28 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” Take note on this "in his heart" the actual sexual act has not been yet done but through our hearts we’ve already guilty of sin and already subject under His judgment.

Prophet Jeremiah reminds us our depravity, the origin of our wickedness. In Jeremiah 17:9 it says: "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?

Now if we dont guard our hearts this will spring in our life "…For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.” (Mark 7:21-23)

So let us always be vigilant on what we read, absorb and accept on this fallen world, let us focus our eyes on Jesus the author and finisher of our faith thru the words of the Holy Scripture (The Bible). Amen

Good morning Church!

It’s a great opportunity for me once again to serve the Lord in this church pulpit to preach to you His holy word.

GREETINGS

May I encourage everyone to greet each other a "blessed morning to you my brother or sister in Christ"

ENCOURAGEMENTS

I just want to bring some encouragements to everyone here

1. To bring our Bible with us during our Friday Service, and even in our respective classes. As we are reminded in Acts 17:11 to be like the Bereans who were noble in character because they study and examine Gods word

2. To attend our Bible Study classes. Acts 8:27 talks about the story of the Ethiopian eunuch who has this eagerness to know the Truth, the Lord brought Apostle Philip to explain the scripture and eventually he was saved.

3. Support and be part of our various church ministries here in ANCF. Let us see what Paul says in Romans 12:4-7. Brothers & Sisters in Christ, we are called to serve the HEAD of this church who is JESUS CHRIST through the fellowship of HIS BODY which is the church.

These are not suggestions but written instructions that come from the Holy Scripture. I hope and pray that all of us here are be obedient to God’s commandments so that we can have a blessed and wonderful life. If we love the Lord, we will obey His word (John 14:15)

OPENING PRAYER

Church, let us pray,

Father in heaven, we acknowledge your presence this morning. You are most glorified through this service, Oh, God! We seek that your grace be upon each of us. May our ears hear clearly what you want to say. May our hearts be sensitive to Your Word. Open our minds to be receptive of your Good News, “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord our rock and our redeemer.”(Ps 14:19) Amen

My message for this morning is entitled,

"THE LOVING GRACE OF OUR GOD"

"…the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus" Romans 3:22-24 (ESV)

May the Lord continue bless us upon reading and studying His holy word. You may now take your seats

For today’s scriptural text we will examine carefully what is says

1. first, we need to know where we can find the Truth

2. second, our standing in God’s sight

3. third, to establish the nature of God

4. God’s plan for mankind

5. Why through Jesus Christ

1. The TRUTH from Sola Scriptura

Nowadays, people are having their own caricature of God in which they think is justified by their own belief. Some people say: “Your God and my God are the same, they just have different local names” Someone will say:"We are just having a different ways, traditions & norms but basically we are serving the same God". Some are really mislead because they even use His name but teach wrong doctrines that are not in the Bible. But worst of all, some people don’t have any idea of all these things, so ignorant and it’s just all about themselves.

In understanding the Christian faith, we have to abide on His holy word which is the Bible. The Reformers of 16th century called this, "Sola Scriptura" which mean " Only The Scripture” as their only source of truth. But most of us don’t rely on this Holy Scripture; we are just happy listening, watching & reading man’s wisdom (philosophy, humanism and etc), new age thinking (science, mysticism and etc.), feel good stories and many more misleading knowledge & truth. We rather love to watch senseless TV programs, movies, read spiritual superficial book, and surf the internet for nonsense information but I guess these are what we think useful to our minds, hearts & souls. The Holy Bible was written and preserved by the guidance of our God for us to understand His love & will for us —- to show us His salvation plan for His own glory and purpose. The Lord our God already revealed His plans & promises in the Holy Scriptures to those who believe and have faith in Jesus Christ. The Bible is very clear that Jesus Christ is the ONLY Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Him. (John 14:6)

2. All are SINNERS and needs to REPENT

Part of knowing our faith is to know where we stand before the eyes of our Lord. The Apostle Paul mentioned that “… for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” Romans 3:23(NIV). He mentioned that in reference to the Old Testament( in their time was called The Holy Scripture) from the psalm of King David in Psalm 14:2-3 that " There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands, all have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one." Romans 3:11-12(NIV).

We cannot hide or deny ourselves in the eyes of the Lord that we are sinner, even if we performed good deeds; we still fall short of His holiness. In the fallen nature of a man, he himself is trying so hard to justify what he is doing by his own standard. Sometimes he thinks that sacrificing thru sufferings and inflicting pain upon himself is enough to wash his sins. Or, maybe, doing massive charitable works, or praying religiously, rigorously & repetitively will do enough under the standard of our Lord. Sad to say, he is going nowhere and eventually be far away from God into the pit of unending sufferings in hell. The more we are aware on working our salvation, the more we fall and become far off from the Truth; worst of all, spiritual blindness will overwhelm us and established on us the greatest deception. Sadly, for some, they just neglect the fact and just set their own definition for their own convenience.

3. God is HOLY

Yes, we know that God is love & merciful but we often neglect His other attributes that He is alsoJust and Holy. We offended Him time and time again and we cannot hit the mark of righteousness that He wants from us. That’s why in our Scriptural text "… righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ…” because we will be justified (which means legally put blameless in the sight of God’s judgment) through faith only in Jesus Christ.

4. His grace that saves

So He gave the "Grace" to mankind, unmerited and free but very costly to God the Father, a sacrificial act of God’s love to us. That He let his only begotten Son die on the cross to cleanse our transgressions. We who often mock & spit on His face, relentlessly proclaim heresy, blaspheme His name and very skeptical about the truth; we, who are His enemies, undeserving mankind and full of self-love have now hope in Jesus Christ. Despite our sinful nature & rebellious act, He offers the amazing grace for us to be reconciled with Him. "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith— and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast".Ephesians 2:8-9(NIV).

5. Only in Jesus Christ

In the last phrase of the verse it says “…through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.”It means the freedom that we have in sin and death which Jesus Christ overcame on the cross.

EXHORTATION

So let us understand that it’s not about us but Him alone "Solus Christus". His only loving grace"Sola Gratia" (pronounced, “grasya”) is sufficiently enough thru faith alone "Sola Fide" in Christ Jesus, so that we will live fruitful for His glory alone “Soli Deo Gloria”.

CALL FOR REPENTANCE

If someone here who is not a genuine believer, who are not yet regenerated/born-again, who are not sure where he is going when he dies, who doesn’t have any assurance, I urge you to humble yourself in the presence of our Lord and pray to grant you His grace and mercy…ask sincerely for the forgiveness of your sins, repent and turn away from you evil deeds and submit to His lordship and authority over you. That you are not anymore dogs (Rev 22:15) but sheep of our great Shepherd (Ps 23) That Jesus Christ is Lord, the only Way to have eternal life that He died for our sins and rose on the 3rd day and now seated at the right hand of the throne of God (Heb12:2).

To end this message, I want to offer a prayer for you, and especially for those who are blind to the truth; I want you to sincerely utter this prayer; earnestly pour your heart, mind and soul on this covenant.

CLOSING PRAYER

Our Father who art in heaven, we humble ourselves in your presence and seek forgiveness and mercy for our souls. Right now, we commit our lives to you; we are declaring that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior, that thru your grace, you’ve saved us to have eternal salvation. May the Holy Spirit dwell in our hearts so that we will be able to serve you, and live a life that is pleasing to you and that will give great glory to your Lordship. This is our prayer, in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Savior, & Redeemer. Amen

Faith comes from hearing the Gospel of Jesus Christ

The Way of the Righteous and the Wicked

1 Blessed is the man
who awalks not in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
2 but his delight is in the law of the Lord,

Psalm 1:1-6 (ESV)

I admonish urgently that we as Christians should be aware and discerning on the current promulgating teachings of all prosperity preachers. Sad to say there are some ignorant “Christians” that are showing more interest on their skewed doctrines, just to fill their itching ears (2Tim. 4:3) than the truth of the Bible.

In this chapter, verse 3 is mistakenly understood and defined in out of context. If you read the whole chapter it mentions in totality the relation of righteous living & having joy in learning the Law(Bible) on the blessing that we will benefit if we abide in the Lord. It warns also the sinners for their wicked ways that the day of their judgment will be destruction. Let us be alert for the devil loves to used nowadays half-truths to distort the word of God to the unbelievers and unregenerate ”Christians”.

It signifies that by giving we gain more by freeing ourselves in greed and love of money, in reaching those who are in need more than us and sharing the blessings from God as our way of thanksgiving to Him. Its better to give than to recieve, and the Lord promise us if we do that He will replenish what we give.

The Greatest Deception

"The saddest part of it is that a lot of people are not only arrogant that they "know" the truth but they are actually blindly ignorant."

One of the greatest deceptions we don’t want ever to happen to us is to find ourselves eternally in pain and sufferings in hell. In the Holy Scripture is always mentioned that it will be the destination of a fallen man who doesn’t have Jesus Christ in his life. A person who always neglects the truth found in the Holy Scripture will be someday caught on this action. Like the rich ruler on the story 31“He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’ ” Luke 16:31 (NIV) The saddest part of it is that a lot of people are not only arrogant that they “know” the truth but they are actually blindly ignorant. 4The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 2 Cor. 4:4 (NIV) St. Jerome the one who translate the Bible into Latin stresses this words "Ignorance of the Scriptures is ignorance of Christ". It’s true, the Bible is inspired by and word of God that will teach, rebuke, correct & admonish us in our lives. Sadly many people scoffers the truth, telling falsely that it’s just a plain, optional literature and an ordinary book. They degraded the importance of Gods words and neglect the truth that was presented there. In addition a lot of New Age thinking is now mixing the authenticity of the Holy Scripture into half truths and well sound doctrines that are now rampant and spreading in a deceitful & enticing way. Unbelievers and spiritual dead “Christians” are snare on these facts that will always keep then away from our Lord. Be warned on all of these for these are deceptions from the Devil. Reading and studying the Bible is not just for getting knowledge but a spiritual learning, with the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, we will understand the spiritual meanings, revelations and application into our lives. Isn’t that amazing that we have the ”…sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Ephesians 6:17, to fight and repel the enemies of the Lord; to be victorious in His namesake.

Dear brothers & sisters it’s about time to reflect on our lives, to see ourselves not merely on our perspectives but on Gods view on us thru His Holy Scripture, the Bible. Let us be convicted of His words and be cleansed by the redemptive work of our Lord Jesus Christ in the cross. Our Lord Jesus Christ is the only Way, the Truth & the Life that ransom us on our inequities and sins, who redeemed us in the judgment of our Father in heaven and that give us life eternally.
