Project Runway host and mother of FOUR, Heidi Klum is the new face of Ann Taylor’s holiday collection and below is a look at her ad campaign!

I’ve been sitting on this ad campaign for a couple of days now, I initially found it an odd mix. I absolutely adore Heidi and she looks totally glamboyant in these campaign images but I don’t know if you know the Ann Taylor brand in the US, I was just a bit surprised. I guess she’s only the face of their baubles and cashmere pieces rather than their complete collection but it’s amazing how she can morph the brand image really really well so that’s why it’s a good fit!

While posing Heidi dished on what she likes about the holiday collection. Here’s what Heidi had to say:

Heidi spoke about being the face of Ann Taylor she said “I’m excited to be the face of Ann Taylor. The brand is cool, hip, very chic, trendy and fun. It’s right up my ally! So I thought, I’d love to shoot the holiday campaign. Especially with one of the best photographers in the world, Peter Lindbergh. We shot cashmere pieces, big jumpers, beautiful scarves, super cozy, chunky fashionable jewelry, in headshot style. It really gives a feeling of luxury, fashion, comfy cozy cashmere with chunky great jewelry.”

She also said “Ann Taylor’s new look is very chic, stylish and comfortable. You can mix and match, high and low. I think it’s never cool to do a total look head to toe.Ann Taylor pieces are easy going, from the jewelry to the cashmere. You can find things that work with what you already own.”

Scarlett Johansson for D&G – THE ONE

As you know Scarlett Johansson (or Scar-Jo) is the new face for Dolce & Gabbana’s Fragrance and Cosmetics line.

The following images are the new adverts for D&G’s L’eau the One … Gisele was the first face of their fragrance back in 2006 but Scar-Jo has taken over the reigns very firmly to become their new muse! The fragrance and Cosmetic lines are inspired by Old Hollywood Glamour and Scar-Jo is definitely the perfect muse!

One perfume evokes a garden of fruits with peaches, lychees and mandarins. Lilies and plums form the heart of the scent, with vanilla and amber giving it a warm touch.

The three campaigns (including The Rose) were directed by Jean-Baptiste Mondino with D&G themselves (of course, nothing less).

Ellen & Oprah shoot four covers

Oprah and Ellen tricked us, they shot FOUR covers, I want ALL FOUR of them … I’m so excited … I knew there had to be some really fun shots, I was banking on them being inside but no, here they are, yay:

On why she came out: “Just to say the words was so huge for me. You know, people say, ‘Why do you have to tell everybody, who cares, and why do you have to announce it?’ It’s because it’s your truth and the truth shall set you free.”

On wife Portia DeRossi: “Well, we’re perfect for each other. She is so beautiful and so smart and so funny, and with her, I have that sense of ‘I’m done now.’ I’m settled. I know that part of my life is taken care of. I’ve got love. I’ve got someone who will be with me till the day I die.”

On getting excited for American Idol: “They came to me, and it was a total surprise. I like to try new things because I get bored so easily. And I like the show, so I thought it was a great idea.”

Interview: Sarah Wilson

I sat down with Sarah Wilson a few weeks ago for a cuppa at a lovely earthy little cafe in Bondi … I loved meeting Sarah, she’s a kindred spirit and I feel blessed that our paths have crossed. We’ve stayed in contact since our catch up and she is incredibly kind, caring and thoughtful.

Running your own business is hard, it’s fun but it’s really really hard and when you’re on your own wearing every hat, usually stacked on top of each other buckling on the top of your head, it’s an emotional roller-coaster ride with some weeks being harder than others. So when I met Sarah I was coming off the back of a challenging week and meeting a kindred spirit who understands what you’re going through made me get a bit teary – so embarrassing to say the least as our meeting wasn’t about me it was supposed to be about Sarah. But Sarah was accepting, non-judgmental and kind and that’s why I feel blessed to have her path cross mine.

Sarah’s weekly column in the Sunday Life magazine is my Sunday religion. We’re both on a similar spiritual path and that’s why I connected with her. I was born to be on the spiritual path and I’m so heartened to see the shift across the globe of more and more people joining this path. It’s starting to get a bit crowded now which is fantastic ‘cause this path is a challenging path (sometimes I just want to get off but you can’t once you’re on it). The path gets lonely at times but with more people on it, the more encouragement and support you have on your path and consequently you don’t feel so alone! Sarah and I talked about this emerging trend and we agree that we are seeing the shift of people learning to ‘slow down’, be authentic and simplify their lives. We are natural hoarders in so many ways, so simplifying our lives by de-cluttering both emotionally and materially is an important part of the process, but de-cluttering isn’t easy it’s very confronting but so worth the effort!

The past 18 months have been an interesting time for Sarah; she left her editor’s post for ACP’s Cosmo mag at the end of 2007 to pursue ‘other’ interests. Sarah didn’t really have any solid plans; she just knew it was time to move on. Since then Sarah has been freelancing and of course was beamed into our lounge rooms on the surprise TV hit show of the year, Masterchef.

And now Sarah is the face of a new channel; Foxtel’s Lifestyle You channel. The very exciting aspect of Sarah’s new role is that she will be a producer for the channel and is developing a new show for us that she’ll be hosting … coming to our screens in 2010. Sarah hopes her show will feel like you’re having a chat with her over the back fence (like we used to when we were kids growing up on our quarter acre blocks in the burbs!) The informal style of the show will embrace the new holistic wellness lifestyle we are all endeavouring to bring into our own lives.

Since leaving the glossy world of magazines, Sarah finds it challenging to create structure to her day (I know exactly what she means) but she loves the freedom of working freelance. A choice she has made since turning freelance is to dedicate one day a week just for her, every week.

Sarah is inspired by the beauty of nature, she grew up in the country and she makes the effort to visit the ocean every day (she lives in Bondi Beach area). She is focused on being present and enjoying the simple things in life. Her favourite place she loves to visit is the desert; she enjoys embracing the warm air, the open space and the dryness of the desert.

Sarah hates shopping because she doesn’t like to accumulate things, when it comes time to buy something she always asks herself if she really needs it and the answer is usually no. She loves her organic rosehip oil that helps keep her skin soft and clear and a trick from her magazine days is to hide any grey re-growth using mascara in between hair appointments (only good for all you brunettes sadly). Eating and drinking less sugar and alcohol is top of the list too!

Sarah believes that life keeps moving forward and where the mind goes the energy flows. It’s like mountain bike riding she says “where you look to, that’s where your wheel will flow … it’s the same with life in general, where the mind goes the energy flows” … it’s a leadership technique she learnt and she endeavours to live this every day. She describes herself as very excitable, loves having massages, thinks Chris Isaak is the dish, cannot live without porridge, good conversation with strangers, chai tea, and bush walks on her own.

And if Sarah could have anyone at a Girl’s Night In she’d invite Jennifer Aniston (she read her interview in Elle UK and thinks she’s awesome), Drew Barrymore (has great values), Arianna Huffington, and her hiking bestie Kersti from NYC.

Like me, Sarah loves to read and in particular she loves Dr Seuss – Oh the Places You Can Go; The Lovely Bones and 1000 Splendid Suns.

Sarah practices what she preaches; she strives to help you be a better person as much as she’s striving to be a better person herself, I envy her authenticity and her ability to be so giving and un-judgmental – I challenge you to get through a day without being judgmental, you’ll be surprised at how hard it is. I believe acceptance without judgment is the key to peace and harmony within our global community. Start small and we will make a difference.

Dakota Fanning December Teen Vogue

Dakota Fanning is growing up and starting to make her transition from child actor to glamour queen. Dakota has been around for years it feels so it’s hard to remember that she’s only 15 years old.

Starring front and centre and inside for December 2009 Teen Vogue she looks incredibly glamboyant. I love the front cover pic and in the leopard print dress, to be honest I love all of them. She’s such a cutie and seems to have a very sensible head on her shoulders which we would have to credit her family for!

Dakota Fanning is the upcoming star of New Moon. She was asked how she feels about the Twilight franchise and co-star Kristen Stewart?

“I read all four Twilight books in one week. It’s such a phenomenon, and I wanted to be able to say that I was a part of it…We [Kristen Stewart] became really close, like we’d known each other for our whole lives. We talk all the time…I’ve never been such an evil character, and because I do know Kristen so well, being mean to her was really weird. It’s like, ‘Sorry, dude!’”

And what she says about getting older:

“I’m going to get older, and I want to act for the rest of my life—it’s what I love—so I have to move forward with my career. The choices that I make might not always please everyone, but I have to do what I feel is appropriate and right for the time.”

I’m sure she’ll make the transition through to adult star very smoothly! She reminds me of Natalie Portman, she too made a very smooth transition so it can be done!

Are we over the GaGa now?

As you know I’m a big fan of the GaGa but are we starting to finally see too much of her? Here is the new cover for her latest single ‘Dance In The Dark‘ Shot by Hedi Slimane, with dress by Alexander McQueen.

And here she is being fired up in Hansel And Gretel. Anna Wintour gave Lady GaGa a small part in the upcoming Vogue US December issue playing the part of the bad witch. Editorial by Annie Leibovitz.

Apparently she showed up for the photoshoot wearing absolutely nothing except a rubber rain coat and very, very high heels.

What do you think? Are we now moving into over-exposure or do we just love what she’s going to come up with next?
