Scheduling early ensures that you have plenty of time to prepare, and you won’t have to rush to find a photographer who is available.

Next, choose a location that represents you. Do you love nature? Then a park or a garden may be the perfect backdrop for your photos. Do you like the look of cityscapes? Then an urban setting may be a better fit. Your senior photo session should reflect your personality, interests, and style.

Outfits

Another critical factor to consider is your wardrobe. Your outfit should be comfortable, stylish, and something that represents you. Styling Your Baby’s Session

Cake smash photo sessions can be styled any way you want. Most of my clients choose to incorporate the theme for baby’s first birthday party into the session. Other clients stick to neutral tones for the cake smash session. No matter how you choose to style your session it is sure to be tons of fun! You can go all out on custom cake for your little one or you can get some adorable premade cakes from most retail bakeries that are the perfect size for a cake smash session.

Cake Smash Session Breakdown

My favorite way to start a first birthday session is to grab some traditional photos of the baby. Once I have captured some sweet portraits it’s time for cake and adorable chaos! I love seeing the baby’s reaction to the cake. I’ve had some immediately go all in on the cake, while I have had others check the cake out cautiously. Before long they are digging in, squishing it between their fingers and making a big, sweet mess.

Once the baby has really started digging into the cake I love to get some close up detail shots. To me there isn’t much cuter than chubby little fingers and toes covered in cake and icing. A mixture of close up and wide angle photos make for an adorable final gallery.
