				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Twitter is one of the biggest social networking sites in the world. Also, it is quite different from most other social networking platforms in the way it operates. However, like all the other social networking sites, it also faces a lot of security issues. To deal with these issues, Twitter recently bought a start-up called Dasient. Dasient is a vendor for anti-malware to big companies in the field of media, financial services, and online sectors.</p>
<p>The technology of this company will be used by the revenue engineering team of Twitter. This indicates that the main purpose of the technology will be to find malevolent ads that are submitted using the self serve advertisement platform which is quite new. Most of the malevolent ads are those that will start a download when an unsuspecting user clicks on them. These ads have a much larger impact when they go up on sites which are used and trusted by a lot of people. Twitter had also released a tool in 2010 for scanning such ads.</p>
<p>Malicious ads are not the only thing Dasient will be used for by Twitter. It will also aim at solving the issue of phishing attacks that are targeted towards users through DMs (Direct Messages) and @ mentions. These mentions and messages usually entice the user to look at a picture or some quiz. The terms of the deal between the two companies have not been disclosed, but Dasient will not accept any new customers and will be shutting down its business.</p>

<p>When Twitter had launched their brand pages program, they offered the option of enhanced profiles to 21 companies who were spending the most on Twitter. It was rumored that these select companies had spend more than $2 million on Twitter in the form of promoted tweets, trends, and accounts. Now, Twitter has changed its policy slightly, and any advertiser who has more than $25,000 in terms of active orders will be eligible for an enhanced brand page.</p>
<p>There has been no official list released by Twitter regarding the companies that will be eligible for this promotion. However, you can expect to see a lot of companies getting this privilege as $25,000 is not very high an amount, considering that last year, the promoted trends were being sold at the rate of $120,000 per day.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Recently Facebook had launched a new feature called Sponsored Stories. Using this feature, brands could post in the news feed of users whose friends had liked or commented upon the brand page. As a result, some people filed a law suit against Facebook, stating that by posting ads which have been liked by their friends, the site is violating the right of publicity law in the state. The judge did not dismiss the case but also said that Facebook is not trying to get rich through unfair means by using sponsored ads.</p>
<p>The Californian statute cited by the plaintiff states that a person&#8217;s name, voice, signature, photograph or likeness cannot be used for advertising without consent. These plaintiffs believe that they should get monetary compensation as their name and likeness was used in these sponsored ads. The judge said in a 38 page report that the plaintiffs have set up a sound argument and that Facebook may actually owe them some money.</p>
<p>Facebook however has stated that &#8216;Sponsored Stories&#8217; ads do not need prior permission because they fall under an exemption of the above stated law which is for &#8216;newsworthiness&#8217;. The site claims that the plaintiff are already public figures to their friends on the site, and by liking a particular product they create newsworthy material that can be shared with their friends. <p>When Google+ Pages was first launched people had a lot of trouble because there was no way an admin could post on the brand page without giving his/her personal account information to someone else. Not only this, now users will be able to see how many people have +1&#8242;d the page and how many users have added the page to their circles. Another important change is that all the admins of the page will be notified about every activity going on the page.</p>
<p>You might have seen the &#8216;How Many Updates&#8217; feature on Facebook. The new volume control feature for circles is pretty similar. However, the Facebook controls are applicable to personal users, but the changes made by Google are applicable to all the circles. User can select from different options from streams regarding the volume. They can go for &#8216;Show everything from this circle&#8217;, &#8216;show most, &#8216;show fewer&#8217;, and &#8216;show none&#8217;. 				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Anyone who is involved in local search engine marketing will realize the importance of Google Analytics. Ever since the launch of version three of Google Analytics, there have been numerous updates to the product. Because of all these changes there was a need for a new API and finally developers have got what they wanted.</p>
<p>Previously, the developers had to use the Data Export API, but now this is defunct and has been replaced with the Google Analytics Core Reporting API. The change in the API is similar to the changes they have made to the APIs of other products and that includes he JavaScript client library which has been changed for a lot of Google products&#8217; APIs.</p>
<p>This Core Reporting API has basically two versions. Version 3.0 is the latest release and it has libraries for other languages like Ruby, Python, and PHP. What is even more appealing about the new API is that it is 10 times more efficient at reducing the size of the outputted data compared to older APIs.  The 2.4 version of the API is there to maintain compatibility with Data Export API that was version 2.3.</p>
<p>In version 3.0, the two major changes that the developers will notice is that authentication is through OAuth 2.0 and also JSON format is used for data output.
