Emma is currently finishing up her role at Interim Secretary General of Fairtrade Sweden and will join SE Forum in the beginning of Febraury. Emma will be responsible for the program development and partner development of SE Outrach, and will help guide the development of the program through its first phase. About the program

With funding support from Sida, SE Forum is preparing the launch of a new “Accelerator Program”, called SE Outreach, which aims to help entrepreneurs delivering business solutions to societal needs in developing markets.

One important objective for the SE Outreach program is to highlight the global perspective, constantly raising that addressing societal needs should not only consider wealthy countries, but also populations in low-and middle income countries where the burden of societal challenges is greatest. SE Forum is delivering on this base with the SE Outreach Program.

The SE Outreach Accelerator program will work with selected entrepreneurs by providing a range of services, seminars, and support functions to help them scale up their change. The first phase of the new program will begin in February.

SE Forum is launching a new start-up accelerator for social entrepreneurs focusing on emerging markets. Five high-potential entrepreneurs will be selected for an 8-week program that will run from April through June 2012 in Stockholm, Sweden. We invite you for an evening of discussions, mingeling and inspiration from one of Sweden’s social entrepreneurial success stories.

Framtidsboxen operates for positive social change through individuals’s influence and participation with a belief that social entrepreneurship and a critical perspective can help in efforts to create long-term solutions. By encouraging innovative ways of thinking and acting, Framtidsboxen helps participants find their way to new solutions to old problems and in 2011 their concept was implemented in 10 municipalities and one region. During 2010 and 2011, Framtidsboxen was a project under SE Forum’s SE Support program. At the end of this year, Framtidsboxen will break off into an economically self-sufficient social enterprise.

The evening seminar will consist of a debate panel, hold in swedish, discussing questions regarding how you can present positive social changes through your business idea. Highlighting the following themes:

1) How can more co-actors with social visions can become better at showing the change?

2) How more actors are able to use young people as resources?

3) What kind of changes are interesting to share?

A unique internship opportunity working with social entrepreneurship and business for good.

Social Entrepreneurship Forum (SE Forum) is a Swedish based non-profit organization, founded in 2004. SE Forum is a network of people working to promote, inspire and empower social entrepreneurs and those interested in the field.

SE Forum is in a dynamic expansion phase in which our interns will have a large and active role. SE Forum is now recruiting two interns for the spring 2012. Preferably full-time for a minimum of 2-4 months. (Part-time and shorter periods may be of interest available.)

For nearly 7 years, SE Forum has been approached by individuals and organizations to provide information, support and collaborations with a wide range of partners, including the H&M Anniversary Foundation, the Folke Bernadotte Academy, Forum Syd, and Sida. We have supported and hosted the development of a nationally-recognized social enterprise, Framtidsboxen, with funding support from Allmänna Arvsfonden and an event in Stockholm with Nobel Peace Laureate, Muhammad Yunus.

SE FORUM INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION

An internship with SE Forum involves a variety of tasks. As an intern you will work with SE Forum’s daily operations and events and with a specific focus on either “web and communications” or on our newly started program “SE Outreach”.

SE Forum has throughout its history had a strong focus on the role that social entrepreneurship can have on development and poverty reduction in low-income countries. This has been reflected in many of our activities. SE Outreach will be a multi-faceted program supporting entrepreneurs both in Sweden and abroad who are working on complex problems in developing countries.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting the Program Director in various tasks and areas regarding the processes and task within the program.

• Assisting with the ”creative idea lab”, with workshops and sessions for active problem solving around entrepreneurs’ own, and external challenges.

• Facilitation, around the interaction between the entrepreneur and the outside world (stakeholders, partners and target groups).

• Managing daily administration within SE Forum’s general operations and events.

We are looking for a person who:

• is a creative team player and has a strong interest in the field of social entrepreneurship or social development.

• is structured, independent and willing to initiate and execute new ideas and projects.

• has advanced communication and social skills.

• is a person who reads, writes and speaks fluent Swedish and English. Additional languages are a plus.

• is a “doer” with a demonstrated ability to combine and execute operational and administrative tasks at high standards with vision and strategic thinking.

• has a genuine and demonstrated interest in social entrepreneurship in the context of low-income countries.

2. INTERNSHIP WITH A FOCUS ON WEB & COMMUNICATION

Since SE Forum is in a dynamic expansion phase and the new program SE Outreach will launch in January 2012,  an expansion and improvement of our web & communication strategies has to be developed.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Further developing and maintaining SE Forum’s web appearance and other social medias.

• Assisting the development of a virtual web platform, with a global reach that includes networking contacts, sharing of experiences, problems and solutions.

• Assisting in seminars, events and meetings, which will provide entrepreneurs with new tools and skills.

• Managing daily administration within SE Forum’s general operations and events.

We are looking for a person who:

• is a creative team player and has a strong interest in the field of social entrepreneurship or social development.

• is structured, independent and willing to initiate and execute new ideas and projects

• has advanced communication and social skills.

• is a person who reads, writes and speaks fluent English. Fluency in Swedish is not required for this internship, but is strongly preferred. Additional languages are also a plus.

• is a “doer” with a demonstrated ability to combine and execute operational and administrative tasks at high standards with vision and strategic thinking.

• has advanced web and communications skills, as well as advanced knowledge in working with WordPress.

Bee Urban’s purpose is to spread awareness and knowledge about the pollination effectiveness of bees and their impact on both a local and global scale. In addition, their company’s byproduct is fresh, local honey. In Sweden, the value of Swedish crops are SEK 325 million, and then either the honey value or the value of the ecosystem service of pollination are included. 76 percent of what we eat in the EU and 84 percent of all vegetation is effected by pollination. In recent years it has been reported from parts of the world that bees some regions have lost up to 80 percent of their bee colonies in 2010 and Sweden has lost 25 percent. If bees disappear, we would have an extremely limited diet. In areas where bees have already disappeared, villagers have pollinate by hand which is an unsustainable process since it is expensive and laboriuos in a larger scale.
