The Best Party at Coachella – Vestal Village 2013

Coachella has nothing on our crew from Vestal. For the 4th strait year they have constructed the “Vestal Village”, a secret camping community on a 40 acre ranch in the desert that coincides with the Coachella Music Festival. Vestal invites their friends, retailers, professional athletes, artists and musicians. The Village includes it’s very own music stage and guests enjoyed performances from: Nick Waterhouse, Boots Electric, LA Riots, Magic Wands, Weapons of Audio, Sex Panther, Hindu Pirates, Golden Ghosts, Jeffertittis Nile, Posso, Ragged Jubilee, Golden Sun, Rusty Buckets, Tamara Sky, Chris Ziegler, Roland Barrera & Ted Keyes.

Morning Surf Report 5/1 – Cardiff Reef

Condition: Another day of poor to fair surf conditions in Cardiff. Not to mention the ugly cloud cover. There are some clean lines hitting but looking a little weak overall. It’s about 2-3′ – knee to waist high – with an occasional 4 ft. The tide is on the rise which will give some decent sessions around 1:30 – 4:00 this afternoon. Water temp is about the same as the air temp – 60 to 62 degrees with winds coming out South West at 4 knots. Forecast says the coast going to be 80 degrees tomorrow and 92 on Friday. I’d say you can ditch your 3/2 suit and hit the water with your jacket this weekend.

Condition: Not the best this morning. Low tide that’s on the rise and only about 1-3′ – thigh to chest high . Poke your head outside and you’ll see total cloud coverage. Perfect for you SUP guys – no surfers to maneuver around. I’d say it’ll be more promising this afternoon at Cardiff Reef and Pipes.

We’re Back Online and Open For Biz!

After a longer-then-expected delay, our online store is officially back up and open for business. Skulls & Wings is the retail apparel division of our main company, which is a graphic design & web development company as well as a promotional products and screen printing business. Last year our entire operation moved from Encinitas, CA to Solana Beach, CA and in the process we had to shut down some of our operations. Long story short – during the move we packed up all our inventory with the future plan of restarting the store down the road. As with many things in life, weeks turned in months and our grand plans were continually pushed back… until now.

We’re excited to be back online and to celebrate we are cleaning house! We have racks and racks of previous inventory that we are unloading at next to cost. Once we clear the shelves we’ll be restocking them with new products (so stay tuned!).

All products on our site & in our current sale are brand new direct from the manufacturer. We have apparel, sunglasses, watches, hats, and skateboard decks, from popular brands such as 9five, Anarchy, Filtrate, Hippy Tree, Toy Machine and more.

Skateboard Deck Design Community Launches at Devil’s Workday

A new online design community has just launched and they’re looking for action sports minded industry designers to come out and play. The site at www.devilsworkday.com invites graphic designers to submit their own unique personal designs for skateboard decks, t-shirts and hats. Approved designs are then voted on by the site members for the best designs and the winners get to see their design turned into an actual skateboard deck, hat or t-shirt and maybe even all three.

Aside from the glory and fame of winning, as if that’s not enough, designers who are chosen also get $500 in cash, $500 in store credit and $250 again each time their design is reprinted as a deck, t-shirt or hat.

The site is only accepting design submissions right now, but voting starts soon. Submissions and voting is ongoing and only those designs that are deemed worthy of becoming real products will be produced and sold online in the Devil’s Workday store.

Now’s your chance to finally quit your day job, so what are you waiting for? Are you ready to start designing?
