A veterinary nurse is reported to have burst into tears after seeing him in so much pain from his injuries.

Arianna, a nurse at the clinic, said it would take the dog, named ‘Rott’ by staff, a long time to recover from the burns as well as the cuts to its neck caused by tugging on the wire.

A California police officer reportedly from the same department as the cop who fatally shot a man’s dog this week, defended the officer’s actions by blaming the dog’s death on its owner.

The post is by Officer Manuel Vasquez Jr., who is blaming the death of Leon Rosby's dog Max not on himself, but on the dogs owner. Vasquez believes the dogs owner should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for the death of his dog.

Here's what Vasquez had to say about the shooting death of Max, the 2-year-old Rottweiler killer by a Hawthorne police officer on June 30. Copied it verbatim by BY: ELISA BLACK-TAYLOR.

“One of the best departments in the state one on looker with no business being there, if he wouldn’t have stopped but with his oen agenda wanting to record a mistake by the HPD and there was none cost him his dog. The few of you out there that don’t trust your police move. want to blame someone blame the dog owner for not minding his own business and putting himself and the officers in harms way, he should be prosecuted to the fullest letter of the law, including the death of his pet. you see police looking for armed suspects get out of the area don't stand there taking pictures, if he would have got shot by the suspects he woul be after the dept. for not protecting him. The rest of you don't be led by one persons agenda, step up and protect your dept. the way they do day in and day out. Lead don't follow."

Vasquez has since taken down his Facebook page.

PA - A scan of the dog revealed the identification chip. Further investigation by police and Delaware County Animal Control found that the dog was chipped at the Glenolden Animal Hospital.

Based on initial interviews by police, Adams said,
“The dog seems to have been passed down to various family members after the original owner had the dog chipped.”

COLLINGDALE, Pa. - A Rottweiler dog was found shot to death laying on a patch of grass at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Collingdale Tuesday evening.

According to the Collingdale Police Department, officers were called to the cemetery at 5:30 p.m., where they found the dog laying in an area toward the back of the cemetery with a dog treat just inches away from its mouth.

Police report noticing a wound to the top of the dog's head. An empty shell casing and a live round were found seven feet away.

A microchip embedded in the dog helped police and Delaware County Animal Control investigators to trace the dog's last registered owner, a resident who lived on Chestnut Street in Collingdale.

Investigators say injuries to the dog led them to believe it was either used as a bait dog for fighting or a fighting dog.

A person interviewed by police described the dog as being friendly.

Police are now searching for the dog's last owner, who they believe to be named Paul Henderson.

Please note: The Rottweilers owner received a verbal warning from one of the police officers involved in the case. This officer told her not to go public with the case, as it would not be in her best interest.

In December, 2011, police raided a house looking to arrest a Colchester, Connecticut woman for breach of peace. The police burst through her front door. The woman's two Rottweilers, Stella and Tazzy, did what any dog would do in this situation: they barked and carried on at these unknown “intruders” and tried to protect their owner.

When an officer became physical with the owner and pinned her to the ground, one of the dogs, Stella, nipped the cop’s behind. No skin was broken. However, both dogs were seized by Colchester Animal Control.

And now Stella, a beloved pet, is still locked up with an uncertain future because of it.

One of the dogs, Tazzy, has since been released, after living in miserable conditions at the shelter. He was said to be in poor condition after the months he spent there. Ten months later, Stella is still being held in her caged prison at an undisclosed location. No one knows how Stella is, since her owner is not allowed to visit her.

Man hospitalized after trying to save family Rottweiler from house fire

Whitehall, PA - Last night, Peter DiStefano ran into his burning home in an attempt to save his dog, a 90 pound Rottweiler named Diamond.

When firefighters arrived, they discovered DiStefano on his front porch - his arms splayed out beside the body of Diamond.

DiStefano, who was not breathing when first responders arrived, was taken to an area hospital where he remains in critical condition.

The dog he valiantly tried to save did not survive.

Paralysed Rottweiler learns to walk again after swimming lessons

A paralysed dog has made an amazing recovery – thanks to swimming lessons.
Bear, a six-year-old Rottweiler, was left unable to walk after falling down the stairs last November.

Owner Katherine Lanson, 49, was warned his injuries were so severe he might have to be put to sleep. But Katherine, from Chorlton, refused to give up and another vet diagnosed compression of the spinal cord.

She discovered hydrotherapy could help and took Bear for weekly swimming sessions at hydrotherapy pool for dogs at boarding kennels Mypetstop in Denton.

Now, almost a year on, he is able to walk again.

Female Rottweiler found dead in kitchen after tortured to death

A police officer has told a court of the revolting smell in a house where he found a dead dog in a pool of blood on the kitchen counter and feces were strewn over the floor of the home and the Rottweiler was lying on the bench under some clothing.

Dusko Culibrk, 26, is accused of torturing the dog to death in May last year and abusing two other dogs who were found at the home he shared with his parents.

The dog's muzzle was bleeding and had scars and ligature marks as though it had been tied shut.

Culibrk was arrested several hours later and the animals were removed by rangers.

The man's parents maintained they were the dogs' owners and had repeatedly approached the RSPCA to reclaim the two living dogs.

It was noted the sister had called triple-0 and said her brother killed the dog.

But Culibrk told the court his sister had been overseas and could not have made the call.

The case continues today.

New Jersey Man indicted in Killing of Police Dog

New Jersey - A Camden County grand jury returned an indictment against the Skyler Robinson, 21, of Washington Township, accused of hurling Shultz ( a 3 1/2-year-old German shepherd) ", a police dog onto a highway last year after allegedly robbing a Chinese takeout shop and then killing the dog during the subsequent police chase.

In May the state Legislature passed "Schultz's Law," which increased the punishment for killing a police dog to a mandatory five-year prison sentence without chance of parole, up from a three-to-five-year term.

Evan Scotese, 20, of Washington Township, also was indicted.

The eight-count indictment against the two men includes three counts of robbery and single counts of conspiracy and aggravated assault - one of the cooks was punched during the robbery.

Robinson also faces counts of killing a law enforcement animal and resisting arrest.

The Senate Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure Committee voted to send a bill (SB27) strengthening the state's 14-year-old puppy lemon law to the Senate floor. The bill, which failed to get a vote last session, comes in response to ongoing complaints about consumers buying sick dogs from breeders and pet stores. Sen. Stewart Greenleaf’s bill would strengthen the law in a number of ways in order to better help consumers recover losses from a seller of a sick dog.

Here's what it does: Extends a consumer’s right to seek reimbursement under the Puppy Lemon Law for incurable as well as curable illnesses. Medical conditions such as hip dysplasia would now be covered.

Extend from 30 to 90 days the time period in which a congenital condition may be certified by a vet in order to recover any losses from a seller. Also, the time period for a veterinarian to certify an illness is extended from 10 to 14 days.

The definition of “unfit for purchase” currently means any disease, deformity, injury, physical condition, illness or any defect which is congenital or hereditary and which “severely affects” the health of the animal. The bill replaces “severely affects” with “a significant adverse effect on” the health of the animal. Greenleaf (R., Montgomery) says by ensuring the health of dogs that are sold in Pennsylvania the bill will help crack down on puppy mills.

Over at the Southampton Animal Shelter, Donald Bambrick, animal shelter supervisor says Jada and Trinity, both 6-year-old, purebred Rottweilers, are seeking homes.

Bambrick, said the dogs were given to the shelter after spending six years with their family.

"Both are housetrained, walk nicely on leash, and are very social with people, dogs, and cats," Bambrick said. "Not only are they devoted to each other, but they will also be two of the most devoted family dogs you will ever meet."

If Jada and Trinity are not the type of pet you are looking for, there are plenty of other animals that need love and care.

All animals are licensed, up to date on their vaccinations, micro-chipped and have been spayed or neutered, according to Bambrick.

Adoption fees range from between $40 and $60 for a cat and $60 and $125 for a dog.

FDA Advises Veterinarians of Recent Recall of Human Drug, Phenobarbitol Drug is Prescribed for Animals Extralabel

The Food and Drug Administration’s Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM) has become aware of a human drug recall for Phenobarbital tablets. Phenobarbital is prescribed by veterinarians as an extralabel use for treating seizures in animals.

On February 5, 2011, Qualitest Pharmaceuticals voluntarily recalled several lots of Phenobarbital 32.4 mg and Hydrocodone Bitartrate and Acetaminophen Tablets 10 mg/500 mg due to a label mix-up between the two drug products. Hydrocodone Bitartrate and Acetaminophen Tablets were incorrectly labeled as Phenobarbital tablets 32.4 mg. As a result of this mix-up, pets may unintentionally be given Hydrocodone and Acetaminophen tablets instead of the intended drug, Phenobarbital.

CVM has recently received 3 serious adverse event reports involving dogs treated with Phenobarbital tablets manufactured by Qualitest Pharmaceuticals. One report cited two of the three affected lot numbers for the recalled product. The remaining two reports did not provide the lot numbers.

2 Rottweilers dragged to deaths by unaware driver

Both Rottweilers died after they were temporarily secured to the back of a vehicle which was then driven away by the owner unaware that they were there.

The Rottweilers were seen being trailed behind a silver 4x4 vehicle.

It is believed they had been tied to the vehicle by the owner's wife.

One dog was found dead in the road and the other had to be destroyed due to its injuries.

It is believed that the couple will not face any criminal charges over the deaths

K-9 Officer doing his Job and Citizen acted Irresponsibly putting child in danger

Police say a western Pennsylvania K-9 was likely being protective when he bit a 6-year-old girl and her mother after his handler offered them a ride to school.

The woman who was bitten, Sherry Floris, told WPXI-TV she didn't know why she opened the door herself. She said she didn't want the officer to lose his job.

Angert is related to the woman and her daughter. He and the dog have been put on administrative leave pending an investigation.
