The last weekend on PSE’s Rock the Bulb Tour – we’re going to miss you, bulb rockers! You’ve helped us distribute over 468,000 energy-saving CFL bulbs so far, and we couldn’t have done it without you!</p>
<p>Stay tuned in the next few weeks as we announce the winner of the Be an Energy Rock Star Contest! We can’t wait to see who comes out on top to win part of $45,000 in prizes.</p>
<p>If you are a PSE residential electric customer and you have yet to exchange 10 incandescent bulbs for free CFL bulbs, join us for some spooky fun this weekend in Olympia! Saturday, we’ll have Halloween activities and candy for the kids. And on Sunday, the folks from Spirit 105.3 FM will be on site from 2-4 PM to help us rock the Tour to a close.</p>

Not one of those tricked-out tour buses, but something even better—Sound Transit buses!</p>
<p>One morning earlier this month, magician Nate Jester joined the Rock the Bulb Tour as a guest act for a special performance on selected bus routes in the Puget Sound region. From Bellevue to Renton to Kent to Auburn, our magician transformed incandescent bulbs into CFL bulbs and showed commuters the money they could save by switching to CFL bulbs. Over 300 lucky folks witnessed the magic and received a free 13w CFL bulb.</p>

When all was said and done in Auburn over 2,000 customers had exchanged 19,800 incandescent bulbs for new CFL bulbs. Many customers also toured the ENERGY STAR Exhibit House and got to hang out with KMTT and KMPS radio stations.</p>
<p>With the help of Auburn’s faithful bulb rockers, our totals are:</p>

<p>We’ve missed you! After a break last weekend, we are gearing up to once again Rock the Bulb, this time in <a href="http://www.rockthebulb.com/events/mount-vernon/">Mount Vernon</a> September 12-13, 10 AM – 4 PM each day. If you haven’t already, join us this weekend to turn in up to 10 incandescent bulbs in exchange for 10 CFL bulbs.</p>
<p>We now have more than 4,200 <a href="http://www.rockthebulb.com/contest/"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Be an Energy Rock Star Contest</span></a> participants. Carilyn B. has been holding on to the lead for the last three weeks, and her point total is now 185 points. But watch out: William V. is hot on her heels with 180 points. With less than two months left in the contest, start catching up! Here are some ideas:</p>
<ul>
<li>Stop by an upcoming <a href="http://www.rockthebulb.com/events">Rock the Bulb Tour</a> stop to earn 50 points for exchanging up to ten bulbs, as well as an additional 50 for visiting all the stations and speaking with a PSE Home Energy Advisor. That’s 100 points in one stop!</li>
<li>Been to an event already? Liked it? Come back and <a href="http://www.rockthebulb.com/porchlight/">volunteer!</a> It’s a fun and interactive way to get another 30 points towards the contest.</li>
<li>Don’t forget to <a href="http://www.rockthebulb.com/invite-a-friend/"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">recruit your friends</span></a> to sign up for the contest—each one that signs up scores YOU 5 points. That may not seem like a lot of points, don’t forget: but slow and steady wins the race.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Energy-Saving Tip of the Week:</strong> Summer is winding down, sadly, and for the Pacific Northwest, this usually means a straight shot into winter. This also means it’s a great time to check your air filter! A dirty air filter will slow down air flow and make your HVAC system work harder to keep you cool or warm, which wastes energy. Check it at least once a month during heavy-use seasons (summer and winter) and once every three months during light use.</p>
<p>For more energy-saving tips, check out <a href="http://pse.positiveenergyusa.com/">PSE’s Energy Insider</a> – in a couple weeks, you’ll be able to get contest points for using EI to set energy savings goals and tracking your energy use during October – this is the way to earn the big contest points, so get ready!</p>
<p>Rock the Bulb has distributed more than 247,000 energy-saving CFL bulbs to PSE residential electric customers so far! Installed, these bulbs represent over 57.1 million kWh of electricity saved, over $10.6 million saved on energy bills, and greenhouse gas emissions equal to taking over 5,200 cars off the road for a year.</p>

This also means it’s a great time to check your air filter! A dirty air filter will slow down air flow and make your HVAC system work harder to keep you cool or warm, which wastes energy. Check it at least once a month during heavy-use seasons (summer and winter) and once every three months during light use. </span></p>

PSE’s Rock the Bulb Tour hit a milestone this past weekend in Oak Harbor. Between our Tour events and Project Porchlight’s community outreach efforts, PSE has now given away over 200,000 CFL bulbs since the tour began! Great job, everyone! If you haven’t participated yet and are a PSE residential electric customer, be sure to come out and exchange some bulbs of your own. Also, be sure to spread the word to family and friends so they can get in on the energy savings too! As of today, our Rock the Bulb totals are:</p>
