The main objective of the organization is to carry out the Great Commission and minister to the people in Occidental, Mindoro. This summer, on April 17-25, 2011, we will conduct a music workshop, mass wedding in two Mangyan tribes and lowland community, Pastors/workers appreciation, and everybody’s birthday for Mangyan kids and kids’ church. We will have a
Mangyan Day where we minister to the tribes and the lowland community.

In lieu with this, we are humbly seeking the generous assistance and support of some Christian friends, who could be of great help to make this mission trip possible. Each member is needed to raise fund for our trip. The money will be used for fare, seminar materials and in buying the needs of the Mangyan tribes like seeds to be planted for farming, canned goods, bath soap, shampoo, toothpaste, medicines, and etc.

I’m terribly sorry about updating our project at CIW just now.
We had our first fieldwork on the 21st. There were security issues, so the project started out small-scale. Sixteen of us visited on the 21st; we had basic traffic signs and games for the women in our group.
Anyway, we realized that there really is a need to reach out to the inmates and help them learn basic reading and writing. You see, although they are taught basic reading and writing, they really are having a difficult time keeping up with those who can already read and write.
So if someone or a group would be willing to take up a project at CIW, that would be very much awesome. I understand that Ms. Gang has a project at Bilibid, then why not start a project at CIW? Many of the inmates at CIW are illiterate and are still struggling. They not only carry  the burden of incarceration but also the burden of living as an illiterate.
Please help out in any way you can.

  • Why sunday? so we don’t bother offices and students as sorting is done in the corridors.
  • You don’t have to be there the whole day. Volunteers can come in shifts. Please email me your time frame.

Basically, once a week, seniors go to locations called TD centers where they are assigned to teach english and math to grade school kids.

For the fourth and final term in their stay in the high school, seniors are given an entrepreneurial project to help earn for Tulong Dunong.

One of the projects, “Layag” is a benefit concert which will be held on February 11, 2011 (Friday) at Ride ‘n Roll along Xavierville avenue. The event will feature the talents of high school and college bands.

We have a subject called Educational Communication, and we have decided to adopt a community where we can help address their needs, as well as empower them.

Our adopted community is the Correctional Institute for Women in Mandaluyong. A few may know that a lot of women in the correctional enter the institution with no basic education. No read, no write. We realized that perhaps the reason why some of them are incarcerated is because some took advantage of their situation.

We are currently working on a project to help address basic education among the women there. The project is in the works, and if the project is approved, hopefully we could ask your help to sustain the project so that the women at CIW will be empowered.
