<itunes:summary> Two Fools on the Road to Emmaus Podcast -  Today the guys are discussing the trash slinging between the ditches folks often find themselves in.    We don't speak as folks who have this figured out, but as those to whom this discussion is really relevant to our own walk!

Often folks who leave institutional forms of church in pursuit of simpler more intimate faith  have a hard time actually leaving it.   Many felt like the "institution" was oppressing them by obligating them to law, etc. and still find themselves kicking against that which has oppressed them.  We / they may categorically reject anything which smacks of the institution, which ironically demonstrates that perhaps we /they are not as free of the institution as we / they thought we were!

Regardless of the structure or non structure one finds themselves in, relationship with Jesus is our only guide.  What is Jesus saying?  What is consistent with the word of God?  I think we will find that in Jesus we can step out from under obligation and manipulation, and in the peace and rest of our relationship with Jesus discern how and what we do.   To put some feet to this, some general themes may be worth mentioning again: Love each other, Bless those who curse you, Forgive, turn the other cheek, Love your enemy's .  These manifestations of love can certainly be a starting place for us to come out from under religious obligation and for those who have walked away from institution, to finally cut the proverbial rope and get on with living life with Jesus in the freedom and joy you hoped your journey would be!</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>Two Fools on the Road to Emmaus Podcast -  Follow the money is a classic saying from the Watergate Scandal story, but is just as poignant with other things.  If we truly want to know what is important us, our 'real' goals, watch where the money goes.  It is the "real" goals which are the measure of what we deem as successful and worthy.  It stands to reason, if one aspect is popular and getting the money, others will do what they can to position themselves in that stream!  So how do we determine what is worthy of support?  What do these measures say about what we value?  Folks coming to faith is wonderful, but isn't the work to encourage and support these folks into maturity every bit as important?   Perhaps the way we look at decision cards tells us more about what we really believe about salvation, evangelism and discipleship and may just give us a clue to why the western church is facing the struggles it is today!</itunes:summary>

Heavens NO! Sometimes life is hard (no kidding?) and this is the reality of a broken world but even in the middle of the crappy parts of life God is there. He is faithful and He loves us perfectly!  It is in these times of trial and stress that our relationship with God is expanded.

The guys talk about Joy in the midst of the mess that life sometimes is.

"But You, O Lord, are a shield about me, My glory, and the One who lifts my head." Ps. 3:3

Just for a Laugh: On their way to a justice of the peace to get married, a couple had a fatal car accident.  The couple found themselves sitting outside Heaven's Gate waiting on St. Peter to do an intake. While waiting, they wondered if they could possibly get married in Heaven.   St. Peter finally showed up and they asked him.  St. Peter said, "I don't know, this is the first time anyone has asked. Let me go find out." and he left.

The couple sat and waited for an answer...for a couple of months... and they began to wonder if they really should get married in Heaven, what with the eternal aspect of it all.  "What if it doesn't work?" they wondered, "Are we stuck together forever?"  St. Peter returned after yet another month, looking somewhat bedraggled.  "Yes," he informed the couple, "you can get married in Heaven."
"Great," said the couple, "but what if things don't work out? Could we also get a divorce in Heaven?"  St. Peter, red-faced, slammed his clipboard onto the ground.  "What's wrong?", asked the frightened couple.   "COME ON!" St. Peter shouted, "It took me three months to find a priest up here! Do you have any idea how long it will take me to find a lawyer?"  www.cleanjoke.com</itunes:summary>
