Hi all,

With no less than three weddings to show you  this week, we’ve been super-busy and today I’d like to show you the first of a great trio – Gemma and Kevin, who were married on bank holiday Monday at one of my favourite local wedding venues, Oaks Farm Barn.  With everything taking place at the same location, assistant Kev and I arrived to meet Gemma first and started with a few photos of our bride and her bridesmaids in gardens to the rear… followed by some family shots of our groom Kevin who arrived soon afterwards.  Despite Kevin explaining that he’s not naturally comfortable in front of a camera, we got some lovely shots of him looking surprisingly relaxed before the wedding ceremony and I was pleased to find that this continued throughout the day – even to the point of us getting a short extra photo session with our bride and groom later in the day – giving us the chance to have a little ‘play time’ for some beautiful candlelit photos like the one above, aided by our trusty video light.

For a couple who don’t feel comfortable in front of the camera, you’d never have guessed it… both bride and groom did a fantastic job!

Recommended wedding photographer for Oaks farm Barn, Surrey

Hi all,

Today I’d like to show you Julie and Dan’s wedding which took place last Saturday just down the road from me at Addington Palace.  I have a few weddings to photograph at Addington over the next month or so, but I hadn’t been here for a little while so it was nice to go back to one of my favourite local wedding venues.  Kevin and I met Julie in the Empire Room where she was getting ready, along with her bridesmaids.  I love this room for bridal portraiture because it has some lovely ornate features and beautiful window light.  As you can see above, Julie looked absolutely stunning… so we got some great bridal portraits before moving downstairs to meet Dan and cover the wedding ceremony.  Publican Dan is a really likeable guy, very easy to get along with and quick to laugh – so we got along right from the start.  Both Julie and Dan were keen to have a very informal style of photography for the wedding day, not wanting anything too posed… so I was looking forward to covering the wedding in a primarily documentary style, with lots of candid photos of friends and family enjoying the day.  Let’s take a look at a few of the photos then… and we’ll start today with a quick shot of Dan just as he experiences that tidal wave of emotion that every groom gets right before the wedding ceremony begins..!

Addington Palace recommended Surrey wedding photographer

Hi all,

We’ve been having fun again!  Today I’m going to show you Lindsay and Joe’s wedding photos that Karen and I took at the weekend.  Regular readers will recognise our bride and groom today from their pre wedding photo shoot at Kelsey Park a few weeks ago in Beckenham… and if this wedding doesn’t demonstrate the benefits of a good pre-wedding shoot for relaxing a bride and groom then I’ll eat my hat because we’ve got a corker in store for you today!  When we met for the pre wedding shoot, Joe explained that he wasn’t perhaps the most comfortable person in front of the camera – but we thought the shoot went really well and got some great pictures.  I can only assume that Joe agreed, because on the wedding day both he and Lindsay were so totally ‘up’ for running with our ideas that we really got to push the boat out and came away with a whole heap of classics!  We started with Lindsay, who was getting ready at the Rowhill Grange Hotel & Utopia Spa in Wilmington.  The Spa has lovely rooms and Lindsay had a bathroom to die for, which made a great setting for our bridal preps – so let’s take a look at a few examples then.  We’ll start from the ground up… wedding shoes!

Pretty funky shoes – Karen couldn’t get over how tiny they were!  Next up, here’s a shot of Lindsay being laced into the wedding dress by Kelly…

And let’s not forget the dashing groom.  I was so impressed with how relaxed Joe was in front of my camera…

The wedding ceremony:

I love capturing these moments – and with everyone so relaxed, I had great fun taking candid photos of the guests enjoying themselves.

I think the portrait above is lovely… and the one below is just the kind of natural moment I like to take.  Kids are great – an absolute nightmare to pose, but they’re so genuine that they’ll give you great shots all day!

Now here’s an exception for me… although we take a handful of formal photos at mostly every wedding, I don’t usually post them on the blog (I’m a sucker for posting the creative photos first)… but Karen and I both thought this was so lovely we just had to post it up.  Who says formal photos have to be boring?  This is just so smiley I can’t help but smile back at everyone in this photo!

Kids love me.  Honest.

I wondered where Karen had got to during the speeches… turns out she wasn’t impressed with my bridal bouquet photos – so she went off to take her own

“Wow” gorgeous rings.  Another of Karen’s ideas here – staying colour co-ordinated to match the wedding colours!

So many pictures to choose from, and I haven’t really even shown you any bride and groom photos yet!  Let’s take a look at a couple from a later session we did with Lindsay and Joe after the wedding breakfast.  Here’s Lindsay, still looking fantastic.  And where exactly was this taken?  Hehe.  Oh, we do have some fun
