Hi all,

Today I’d like to introduce you to Max and Vivian who booked me for a full day last week to cover their Chinese pre-wedding photo shoot in central London.  We’ve covered a number of Asian pre-wedding photo shoots over the past few months – mostly in and around the London area… so as we set out for the day, Karen and I knew we’d be in for a fun but very packed day!  After an initially wet start, we managed to get lucky with the weather and by the time we met up with Max and Vivian at Wellington Arch, Hyde Park Corner the ground was dry and we were set to go.

Did I say we had a full day booked?  Let me tell you a few of the places we visited during the photo shoot: Wellington Arch was followed by Buckingham Palace and the Mall… then on to St James’ Park, Big Ben, Westminster Bridge and The London Eye, a walk down the South Bank, Tower Bridge, and The Millenium Bridge with St. Paul’s Cathedral for a backdrop… and more!  We had a great time shooting and I can’t wait to show the full set to Max and Vivian.  Max is a photographer too, so it was fun working with him and knowing he was sharing something of the ‘vision’ as we were taking the photos.  We covered the whole gamut from traditonal posing right through to funky modern and creative photos – and had more than our fair share of laughs – especially watching Kiki (aka “Bubbles”) running around like a mad woman with her bright green bubble-gun in front of St Paul’s Cathedral -very funny!

Finally arriving home after midnight, both Karen and I agreed that the day had been exhausting but a lot of fun. We had covered all the sites in the full set of photos, but today I’d like to show you just a few of my favourite photos from the day – not necessarily the ones we took in front of the known London monuments – but some of the more creative interesting pictures I like to see and take for myself.   The opening shot above was spotted and taken within the space of about 3 minutes as we waited for our taxi by the entrance to the Marriott Hotel just along from the London Eye – and Karen and I both love it!

This next shot (above) was grabbed as a quick ‘snapshot’ on Westminster Bridge as an unfazed Vivian drew crowds of onlookers in her wedding dress!  Doesn’t she look great? And bubbles at St Paul’s..?

I love graffitti photos, the example below is no exception – the bold colours of the artwork on the South Bank where the skateboarders and BMX riders hang out makes a great backdrop for some modern pre wedding photography…

During the day Max and I chatted about photography in general and he mentioned that he loves a good HDR photo (that’s a higher dynamic range, created by combining multiple exposures into a single digital image to capture more range than is possible in a single standard photo)… so I thought I’d treat him to this image, created by using a combination of HDR and off camera flash techniques to really bring out the colours and atmosphere of Tower Bridge:

And finally… a simple, but I think beautiful image taken somewhere along the South Bank – using water fountains as a simple backdrop.

I’d like to say a big thanks to Max and Vivian for being such great sports on the day, you both did fantastically well in dealing with the London crowds and were a joy to work with.  I really hope you love the pictures!  I have many more to show you including those with the various iconic London sites in them too: your album is going to look amazing!  Thanks also to our make-up artist who did a great job throughout the day and also to “Bubbles” for holding things, watching things, carrying things and making me laugh like an idiot outside St Paul’s!   And let’s not forget Karen, without whom I’d probably never arrive in the correct location in the first place

Asian and Chinese pre wedding photographer in London

Hi all,

Still busy, busy, busy… and today I’d like to introduce you to Claire and Joe who are to be married in September this year at the beautiful Eastnor Castle in Herefordshire. I met up with Claire and Joe a week or so ago for a pre-wedding photo shoot in Nonsuch Park in Ewell (Surrey) and enjoyed a very relaxed couple of hours with them just wandering, chatting and shooting our photos. Both Claire and Joe are super easy to get along with, and ‘performed’ faultlessly in front of my camera – so before we knew it, we’d strolled all the way around in a big circle and were back to where we first set off. We got a lovely set of photos, and I came away really looking forward to shooting the wedding when the big day arrives: having already visited Eastnor Castle a month or two ago, I can’t wait to make good use of a multitude of great shooting locations – and I now know Claire and Joe will be great for photographing on the day!

So there you are, just a few of my favourite photos from the pre-wedding session. I hope you enjoyed them … I especially loved the soft feel of the first photo, processed in a slightly different way than my norm. Feel free to leave your comments below.

Contemporary pre-wedding photographers in Surrey

Hey, I’m slowly but surely catching up with things! Since my recent computer hiccups a month or so ago I’ve been working furiously to make sure I catch up and keep up with everything – and following a rare weekend without a wedding this past weekend I think I’m finally getting there.

So today I’d like to share a few photos with you from Charlotte and Toby’s wedding which took place on Saturday 10th July in Bookham, Surrey. Another cooking-hot day, and another cooking-hot wedding. First stop of the day was Mum and Dad’s home in Fetcham where a stunning Charlotte was already waiting, resplendent in her wedding dress. With Karen assisting for the day we set to work taking some bridal photos, first indoors and then outside in the immaculately tended garden. Check out the photo below and congratulate Mum on making such a fabulously colourful living backdrop for our bridal photography!

On to the church and the wedding ceremony itself, then some formal photography outside before the wedding party moved on to the reception at Tyrrells Wood Golf Club. This was a new venue for me, but had some lovely views over the golf course which I was pleased to be able to use. This wedding was a little different to our usual, with more formal photography than we’d usually do – but we got lots of photos throughout the day and as we finally headed home following Charlotte and Toby’s first dance both Karen and I agreed it had been a good (if hot) day and we’d enjoyed covering the photography and having some fun with everyone during the day.
