He is now respected, if not liked, by the majority of viewers.

Neville represented England 85 times, playing alongside a number of the current squad’s key men including Wayne Rooney, Frank Lampard, and Steven Gerrard.

If Neville is to be a successful coach, then he will need to be as honest with his former teammates in the dressing room, as he has been behind the TV cameras. If Neville is able to adapt to coaching with the same ease that he took to punditry, then there is no doubt that he will be a great success.

The first real test for Gary Neville as a coach will come in Euro 2012; Roy Hodgson’s men take on France in their opening Group D encounter on 11th June. A draw is the most likely result, according to the Euro 2012 Group D betting site.

If you are lucky for an outsider to place your money on, this summer, look no further than the Betfair Russia Euro 2012 odds page.

Champion Mario back in the Italy Fold
Having made a telling late contribution to Manchester City’s Premiership win Mario Balotelli has now been named in Italy’s preliminary 32 man squad for Euro 2012.

City boss Roberto Mancini had previously indicated that his 21-year old compatriot would not feature again in a sky-blue shirt after a series of disciplinary breaches including a recent red card against Arsenal.

With City 2-1 down to QPR, however, Mancini changed his mind and turned to the man from Palermo for inspiration. The ex-Inter Milan star duly provided a neat pass to set up Sergio Aguero to score the winning goal with only seconds remaining and deliver the first league title to the blue half of Manchester since 1968.

It remains to be seen whether or not this domestic contribution influenced Italy manager Cesare Prandelli’s decision, but he seems confident that Balotelli can deliver: "I never really thought of doing this without Balotelli, as he is a focal point of the national team," he said.

Prandelli left Balotelli out of the national squad in February following his stamp on Tottenham’s Scott Parker but he seems willing to forgive and forget now; "Have I made peace with Balotelli? Yes, although to be honest we never argued in the first place" he added.

After his recent disciplinary problems inclusion in this provisional squad is yet another let off for Balotelli who will have to curb his temper if he wishes to make any impact whatsoever in the tournament. The latest Betfair Group C Euro 2012 Odds suggest the 20102 World champions are fancied to qualify for the knock-out stages, but whether that will be as group winners or runners-up remains open to debate.

Italy kick off their campaign with a tough fixture against champions Spain on June 10th but if their star striker concentrates on matters on the pitch then he could deliver the goals needed to make them a force to be reckoned with.

Can the co-hosts Poland cause a shock in their home tournament? They are in a tough group with Greece, Czech Republic and Russia, get all the latest Betfair Group A Euro 2012 Odds here.

City triumph "incredible" - Mancini

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini described his side's first domestic title success in 44 years - won on goal difference in the most dramatic of circumstances - as "incredible".

The Etihad Stadium outfit became the first team to win the title on goal difference since Arsenal pipped Liverpool in 1989 thanks to two injury-time goals from Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero which secured a 3-2 win against 10-man QPR.

Pablo Zabaleta had given the home the side lead but Djibril Cisse levelled for the relegation-threatened visitors just after the break. The R's then lost former City midfielder Joey Barton to a red card in a moment of sheer madness only for Jamie Mackie to head them in front, undoubtedly sparking frantic selections from punters active on the live soccer betting circuit.

At that point local rivals Manchester United were within touching distance of celebrating a record 20th domestic title after a 1-0 win at Sunderland, but two late goals brought about scenes of hysteria at Eastlands.

Mancini said: "This is an incredible moment. We wanted this title and we deserve to win this title. This is for all our supporters, the club, the chairman and the owner. This is the perfect finale for a crazy season. We dominated this season for 28 games, but when we beat a team like United twice in one season we deserve this."

Sir Alex Ferguson's deposed champions, also on 89 points, set a new domestic record for most points in a 38-game campaign without being crowned winners.

Ferguson, the domestic game's most decorated manager, said: "I congratulate City on winning the league. Anybody who wins it deserves it, because it's a long haul. At the end of our game our players didn't actually know the results. Now, they're really disappointed, I'm glad to say."

At the other end of the table, Bolton's 11-year stay in the Premier League came to an end following a 2-2 draw at Stoke. Wanderers, who knew only a win would keep them up, joined Blackburn and Wolves in dropping down to the Championship.

Few soccer betting tips would have predicted the eventual outcome at the bottom of the table. It is the first time all three sides promoted to the Premier League - QPR, Norwich and Swansea - have survived since 2002 when Bolton, Fulham and Blackburn all stayed up.

Bolton manager Owen Coyle said: "We'll regroup and pick ourselves up and see in the next few days what we need to do to move forward."

Coyle words inspires Bolton

It took some harsh words at half-time from manager Owen Coyle but it did the trick and Bolton secured a vital three points away to struggling Aston Villa on Tuesday night.
The Trotters came from a goal behind in the West Midlands and, having dragged Villa into the relegation fight, now sit just one point off safety with a game in hand over their rivals at the bottom of the Premier League table.
After spending much of the time in the bottom three Coyle’s men have always been among the favourites in the relegation betting.
It was a tremendous result for the Lancashire outfit, who have really been struggling with injuries this season, whilst having to deal with the narrowly avoided tragedy that was the collapse of midfielder Fabrice Muamba.
Coyle and his men are looking to give Muamba a Premier League club to come back to, should he continue his playing career and the three points at Villa Park could go a long way in ensuring their survival. Though I would bet on the Premier League relegation scrap going right down to the last day given the compact nature of the table.
The Scot was delighted with the result but did admit he had to give his players a kick up the backside to get the win over Villa.
He said: "I think we showed again the character we have within the squad and I have got to say I gave them an almighty blast at half-time because I wasn't pleased with the first showing.
"We have been in good form, I think that's 13 points from 21 now and everybody else around about us was winning when we were idle and this was one of our games in hand and we still have another one.
That's what we have got to do, give performances like this to make sure we remain in the Premier League."

Reading back in the big league

Having already secured their well-deserved return to the Premier League, Reading can now start preparing for the challenge to stay in the top flight for many seasons to come.
The current crop of players at the Madejski Stadium have enjoyed a remarkable spell of form over the last few months and secured their return to the top tier of English football on Tuesday night, thanks to a 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest.
Under manager Brain McDermott, Reading have enjoyed a tremendous team spirit, which has carried them to the top of the Championship table, without too many individual stars. Most people will now bet on the Championship title making its way to Berkshire, just like it did in 2006.
The question for all teams making the big step to the Premier League, is how much to invest in the squad to make sure they retain their top flight status?
Reading will receive in the region of £90m for their achievements this term and of course a portion of that money will go into strengthening the squad to make sure they are competitive at the highest level next term.
They will understandably start the season among the favourites in the relegation betting but the likes of Stoke City and more recently Norwich and Swansea, have all proved that teams can make that step from the Championship and compete with the big names in English football.
Chairman of the Berkshire outfit Sir John Madejski is adamant the club will not be breaking the bank to add talent to the squad and feels a calculated approach is best for Reading.
He said: "We will strengthen as we see fit. We have already strengthened and that will carry on.
"What I don't want is people thinking Reading are an open cheque book. We will be as careful as we have been in the past."

Has Tevez Redeemed Himself?

The very idea of an individual walking out of the workplace for months, and then returning a hero may seem preposterous, but in the footballing world, it would seem things work a little differently.

The return of Carlos Tevez seems to have brought something to the Manchester City team that was sadly lacking during his absence, and this doesn't just boil down to his actual contribution on the pitch.

With Tevez clearly loved by the majority of the City squad, as well as the coaching staff, there is no getting away from the fact that he seems to be a man capable of energising the likes of Sergio Aguero, providing City's top stars with the chance to shine in the best way possible.

It would have been easy to see the player take the podium in Premiership Top Scorer Betting, if he had been around all season.

However, the fact that Tevez was so selfish at such a crucial point in the season means that the City fans need to see plenty more from the Argentine in order to be able to truly forgive him.

If City now go on to win the title, due to the fact that Tevez managed to fire them to a few crucial away wins, then he may have just done enough to win back the trust and love of the City fans, who so readily welcomed him into their club, after he so shockingly jumped ship from Manchester United.

Ultimately, though, there is no escaping the fact that the likes of Vincent Kompany and Joe Hart, who have been outstanding this season, are likely to miss out on that Premier League medal, partly because Tevez walked away from the battle the Sky Blues were engaged in at a crucial time.

For that, surely there can be no short-term forgiveness. We will see a spectacular game – not just in attack but also in defence. They will show what they can do and I am looking forward to this. I am expecting a very interesting game."
Punters looking for soccer betting tips may want to consider the previous meetings between the two sides - the clubs have met in four previous European Cup semi-finals, with Bayern prevailing three times (1976, 1987, 2001) to Madrid's one (2000), and coach Jose Mourinho, a two-time winner, is expecting a difficult night in Germany.
He added: "Bayern are an institution. They have everything you need to be a very big club and they have everything to proceed to the final. We can write history and take the next step. Bayern have lots of individual quality, but there is a strong collective [emphasis], also. And they have a great coach, Jupp Heynckes. They are playing great football."
Both teams have won four of their eight previous two-legged encounters in the competition. The most recent came in the 2006/07 round of 16 when Bayern prevailed on away goals, losing 3-2 in Spain but winning 2-1 in Munich.

City 'Finished' if United Win Two

Manchester United need only to win their next two matches to claim their 20th Premier League title, according to Roberto Mancini. The Red Devils could, depending on the performance of their rivals, Manchester City, go eight points clear of the Blues by Sunday.

“If we go eight points behind then it is finished”, Mancini lamented. “It’s clear we are disappointed. We have made some mistakes, me and the team. We have also been unlucky, like losing three or four key players at an important moment.”

Alex Ferguson's team currently have a game in hand over all but three other teams in the division. They will play relegation candidates, Blackburn Rovers, tonight, to even out the fixtures list and the soccer betting tips are predicting a United victory.

If United defeat Blackburn, the Reds will be sitting on treasure horde of some 76 points at the top of the table, compared to City's 71. The only way forward for the latter team, in such a scenario, would be a defeat of Arsenal on Sunday, and punters who bet on soccer games seems split as to how that close match will pan out.

They would also require Queens Park Rangers to beat Manchester United on the same day, a tall order indeed, given that the Red Devils have not lost since January 4, when they were mauled 3-0 by Newcastle United.

If everything aligns correctly for Manchester City, the side will require just two points to overtake United at the top of the Premier League, with six games remaining of the 2011/12 campaign.

The season could, as Mancini has previously suggested, be settled in spectacular fashion on April 30, when the Manchester Derby takes place at the Etihad Stadium.

Arsenal and Spurs, in third and fourth place, respectively, have an outside chance of catching the second-place City. Arsenal, for example, would need to win their next five games, while hoping that
City lose all of their encounters in April.

Have Spurs Been Distracted?

It has been a very difficult month for Tottenham who have seen there 10 point lead over 4th place over turned by rivals Arsenal, and fingers of blame are starting to point towards Harry Redknapp being linked with the England job.

It's easy to put two and two together and look for any old excuse but could there be any truth in it?

Redknapp himself will deny it all day long. But the fact that the FA have remained quiet about the appointment of the England manager, coincided with Redknapps stance to not rule himself out of the job while insisting he is concentrating on Spurs, tells us that the writing is on the wall, and that it's only a matter of time before the job is his. Those looking at the Premiership betting odds need to bear this in mind.

You can see why Redknapp would want to ignore the England job until the season is over as Spurs are on the brink of a special season but the uncertainty has probably worked against the initial plan to keep quiet.

The players will surely on some level have taken their eye off the ball to think about what will happen next season when Harry is gone? Will they be at the club? Will the new manager like them? It is all speculation but it is human nature to be distracted and having the thought of your manager leaving the club is a big distraction. Fans of football betting need to remember this.

It is a difficult situation for everyone involved. The FA can't tap up a manager from one of their own clubs midway through the season, even though that is probably what they have done behind closed doors. Nor is it could for Harry to step out and confirm that he is leaving; it is a double-edged sword.

The only thing that can be done is for the Spurs players and management to buckle down and see out the rest of the season. They have taken their eye off the ball for the last few weeks but now they must refocus and turn a good season into a great season by making third place in the league their own and getting to the FA cup final. Should they do this then Harry Redknapp might just stay at the club after all.

Ferguson: Glory must end our run

Sir Alex Ferguson reflected on a "disappointing year" after Manchester United were unceremoniously dumped out of Europe by Athletic Club at San Mames on Thursday (Live soccer betting: 4/7 Manchester United - Premier League outright bet365).

The reigning Premier League champions were given a harsh lesson on home soil in the first leg when Marcelo Biesla's high-energy La Liga outfit ran out comfortable 3-2 winners.

The task was made even more difficult when they conceded an early goal in the return fixture to the impressive Fernando Llorente. Oscar de Marcos doubled his side's advantage before Wayne Rooney halved the deficit on the night with an excellent consolation strike from range.

The result means United have won just three of their 10 games in Uefa competition and suffered a hat-trick of losses for the first time since 2004 - an alarming fall from grace for a team that contested three of the last four Champions League finals.

Ferguson pulled no punches with a damning assessment of his side's form in Europe this season and confirmed he would endeavour to find out what went wrong.

"Trying to analyse this season against others is a bit difficult," he said. "There is a route in terms of some of the goals we have lost in these tournaments. They have been pretty poor.

"It has been a disappointing year."

The game's longest-serving manager said sulking was not an option and demanded his players pick themselves up for a trip to Wolves on Sunday and the chance to open up a four-point gap over local rivals Manchester City at the top of the Premier League (Soccer betting tips: Wolves 8/1 draw 4/1 Manchester United 1/3 - bet365 90 minutes).

"Feeling sorry for myself is not an issue for me," he added. "There is a disappointment but analysing the performances is more important and we have an important game on Sunday."
