The iconic diva will take the stage at the American Music Awards this weekend. The ‘I Will Always Love You ‘ singer will perform her latest single ‘I Didn’t Know My Own Strength,’ which should make for a truly magnificent moment in the awards show’s history.

Whitney Houston is the all-time leader of female performers in awards (21) and nominations (37) received from the AMA’s. Wow, What colossal numbers!

So if you guessed that they are thrilled to have the American singer, actress, and fashion model back you are correct. Here’s what the show’s producer Larry Klein had to say about Houston:

“We’re honored to have Whitney Houston back on the AMA stage after 10 years.”

He then went on to exclaim that she is “without a doubt an international superstar” and that the bestowal of the “International Artist award this year” is appropriate - We certainly agree Mr. Klein - Readers, how about you?

Other acts set to perform are Rihanna, Shakira, Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Jennifer Lopez and The Black Eyed Peas. What a star-studded line up!

The International Artist Award is a rarity and has only been handed out seven times over the events’ 36-year run. The other recipients include greats such as Michael Jackson, Led Zeppelin, Rod Stewart, Bee Gees, Aerosmith, Beyonce Knowles, and Madonna.

Garth Jennings, who did a terrific job of making the most out of a seemingly low budget, directed the vid for “Cousins”. A matter of fact it’s a masterful piece in its own unique, amateurish right. The 2 minute and 32 second clip compellation compliments the songs staccato nature perfectly. So unlike many other music videos, this one is actually in accordance with the song… Yay for good filmmaking!

The short Indie type flick that was put to music has already garnered attention from pop culture phenomenon Weezy. Not too long ago he vowed upon its “FNMTV” premiere to make a similar style single-take clip one day. We are still waiting to hear word on when or if this will happen… I for one hope he does, but something just doesn’t sound right about the words Lil Wayne and low budget being used in the same sentence, does it?

The song is littered with catchy lyrics, so lets take a look at a few.

I can feel it coming

Or something along those lines… I couldn’t clearly make out what he was singing. So if I missed a word or two, sorry!

Perhaps this is what the band needed in order for them to be less recognized as (according to MTV.com) “children of privilege and private schools,” and transition over into being more recognized as musical talents.

Fantasia Barrino, 25, is in the news because she is clearly making it known that she is with her new married man and father of two, Antwaun Cook.

As a biography, not too much is known about Antwaun Cook. He is 30 years of age. Cook is married and has two sons, ages 4 and 1. The couple apparently met at his place of employment, T-mobile located in Charlotte, North Carolina. He where he works as a salesman. Cook left his wife and children to reside with Fantasia in her million dollar home.

The singer is so head-over-heels for Cook that she has supposedly inked his last name on her shoulder. Are you serious Fantasia?

Reportedly, the Fantasia Barrino affair is spreading like wildfire. I guess it ought to be hot if you are Cook. Yeah, right. It is said that the singer met the married man in the beginning of August while he was still living at home with his family. But towards the end of August, the two started to see each other more frequently, assumingly in a unspecified hotel in North Carolina. While Fantasia was performing Broadway’s “The Color Purple” in her homestate, they also hooked up. It was in September, that allegedly Cook left his family for the singer and now live together in her mansion.

As above stated, it is said that the singer recently starred on Broadway in “The Color Purple” production. She supposedly has been financially unstable and came upon foreclosure on her home.

At last year’s event Joe and Kevin performed alongside little brother Nick, but this year that just will not be happening. If you’re a fan of the Jonas brothers don’t fret though, because the trio will still be there in full force. The older siblings will introduce Nick Jonas aka Mr. President before he goes on stage with the Administration. Last year the trio was nominated for Best New Artist, but fell short, loosing to Adele.

For those of you concerned about a breakup, the bros have assured fans not to be.

Other acts for the evening include the Black Eyed Peas, Sugarland, Maxwell… Sounds like a terrific evening of performances, right? LL Cool J will host the ceremony, and Neil Young will be honored with MusiCares Person of the Year award.

As a band biography:

Nick Jonas & The Administration is a solo project from the youngest of the Disney associated trio. His brothers had only positive things to say about the solo songs - “They are amazing works of art from an amazing talent.” A small clip from the song “Who I Am” was leaked on the Internet not too long ago; nonetheless the single won’t be release until Dec 3. Mr. President has a wide range of musical capabilities. He plays guitar, piano, and sings, and he does them all very well.

The Prime Minister, casually dressed in a white turtleneck and dark zipper jacket, took to the stage and expressed his approval of the program which promotes a drug and alcohol free lifestyle. As The Telegraph reports, he told the audience:

Rap, even urban rap and street rap, is kind of crude, but is already filled with social content and addresses the problems of youth…Graffiti is becoming a real art form – refined and polished. Break dancing is something completely unique.”

While Putin’s appearance has drawn mixed reactions in the media, USA Today notes that one of the attendees, St. Petersburg rapper Roma Zhigan had rapped that the Prime Minister is “a legendary man, he is our idol” and that he went on to say it would “be cool to write a track with him.”

The Moscow Times said of his appearance on the show:

“Putin won lavish praise from the hip-hoppers…even though he often looked uncomfortably detached, standing in front of a dancing crowd, clapping his hands and not moving his body.”

Without doubt, he has certainly brought worldwide attention to Russian rappers.

The band from Malibu originally came into the public eye with the hit song “Hanging by a Moment,” which was off of their No Name Face album. Almost nine years later they are at it once again with a new hit single, and a forthcoming album entitled Smoke & Mirrors.

How does the group conformed of Jason Wade (lead vocals, guitar), Ben Carey (guitar) Rick Woolstenhulme Jr. (drums), and Bryce Soderberg (Bass) manage to stay relevant after almost a decade? The answer is, by creating mass hits such as “You and Me,” “First Time,” and “Whatever It Takes”.

The young pop star stripped down her hit songs to the bare essentials for MTV. This act follows suit with many great musicians such as Nirvana, Alice In Chains, Eric Clapton, Tesla, Bon Jovi, The Foo Fighters, and Seether. Now Katy Perry has been added to that exclusive list of talent.

Yay, for her!

This was a good move by the starlet to show people that she isn’t just another over produced pop star, and that she really does have musical talent. Personally, I liked some of the acoustic adaptations better than the produced version of the song. Also, it was a terrific way for Perry to show off her true vocal skills.

A half-hour “Unplugged” special will air on MTV’s HD channel on November 27 at 9 p.m. For the special Katy Perry reveals the scoop behind her songs. So don’t forget to tune in!

One is a long-time, multi-Grammy Award winning music superstar and the other an emerging international pop star. Both are known and celebrated for their unique style and iconic stature. It is not a surprise then that the two of them costarring in a music video exemplifies an exciting synergy as both are seen dancing in identical leotards in the clip.

Lady GaGa herself, in an interview with MTV News was full of praise for Beyonce, as she reflected upon her appearance in the video in which she adopted her signature style in favor of her own.

“I said, ‘I want to do you in your video, and I want to tribute you. I want to dress up like you,’ ” she recalled telling her co-star. “And Hype Williams … was so excited. He was like, ‘Gaga I want no makeup on your face.’ It was really stripped down — real Beyoncé hair, and we wore the same outfit in the video, and I [paid tribute to] her.”

Her own highly anticipated album, The Fame Monster, is set for release on Nov. 23. She went on to express admiration for accomplishments of the former Destiny’s Child singer who has gone on to global success as a solo artist in recent years and critically acclaimed world tours.

“I wanted to [work with her] because this was an era for her in her career where she defined herself aesthetically,” she said. “And that should be applauded that a woman did that. She’s so great at what she does.”

This version, dubbed the “extended remix” will also appear on the forthcoming re-release of Beyonce’s album, entitled, “I Am…Sasha Fierce [2nd Deluxe Edition]” set for release on November 23, 2009.

The starlet pulled of her unplugged session with poise, sexiness, and creative renditions of familiar and unfamiliar songs. For the acoustic set she performed seven songs in total, which include: I Kissed A Girl, Ur So Gay, Hackensack, Thinking Of You, Lost, Waking Up In Vegas, and the premiere for Brick by Brick.

One of the many highlights of the set was the more mellow adaptation of the naughty song about Perry playing tonsil hockey with another female. It definitely came out sounding more like a song you would here in a cabaret lounge, rather than a nightclub. I thought it was done perfectly, and that it allowed Perry to really display her vocal chops.

Before this, for the most part Katy Perry was regarded as nothing more than another pop star. Hopefully people will give her more respect as an artist after watching the all-acoustic gig. If not, it’s their loss, because she deserves to be recognized as a talented musician.

Coming out on stage wearing West Ham United colored underwear with the name “Rusty” stitched on the back prompted boyfriend Russell Brand to take to twitter and write:

“Wow! Now MY GIRLFRIEND has worn a West Ham basque while hosting the EMA’s. What a day!”

This comes as the third video that Clipse has released this month alone. The other two were for the tracks “I’m Good” featuring R. Ross, and “Doorman.” Today (November 16, 2009) the rap duo dropped another hot beat…

Since they experienced difficulties filming in New York, the vids had to be shot guerilla-style, according to the Music Television site. Meaning they had to be discreet and elusive when the cameras were rolling. It seems that their tactics worked well too, because you can clearly see NYC landmarks in a few of the clips.

When and where was the group formed? They got their start in 1992 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Who’s in the group? Pusha T and Malice. They have collaborated with The Neptunes on multiple occasions, and originally met and impressed Pharrell in 1993. The world-renowned producer liked their lyrical capabilities, and that was the start of a good relationship. So far they have dropped three albums – Exclusive Audio Footage (1999), Lord Willin’ (2002), and Hell Hath No Fury (2006).
