Sliding Rocks Death Valley

Even NASA cannot explain it. The rocks, some weighing hundreds of pounds, slide across the sediment, leaving furrows in their wakes, but no one has actually witnessed it.

It’s best to gaze in wonder Playa is almost completely flat, 2.5 miles from north to south and 1.25 miles from east to west, and covered with cracked mud.

Fox Hidden in Plain Sight

I had the privilege of meeting this beautiful fox while on a short walk the day before new year's eve. I'm calling this my new year's first wildlife encounter.

This shot was taken from one, if not my most cherished locations on earth, in the Gila Wilderness New Mexico, USA. I have been going to this area my entire life.

Because this happened where it did and when it did, I'll consider the Fox energy as a guide into this next year, 2013. Just as last January's Wildlife encounter, the morning of the new year 2012, I had a visit from Red Tail Hawk. You can see my photo and read my short story about that encounter on WildObs

I found this image and info. while surfing pinterest.com I love learning of such pleasant positive and meaningful cultural traditions.
The kolam, or "rangoli" is a traditional mandala, a geometric pattern, that women design in front of their houses during festivities. In Tamil culture is a strong form of expression by the women, who express their feelings in this secret way.

Seasonal Hot Drink
My new favorite hot drink. Ok, first a shortened short story. I'm trying to drink less coffee.

The Recipe
You may want to write this down.

Steps:
1st - Steep water (bring water to a boil)

2nd - While your water is increasing in temperature chop some apples. (You'll need this ready for a further step)

3rd - Add one amount of honey to the bottom of your cup. (Desired hot drinking vessel)

4th - Reach for some cinnamon (you'll need this in a further step)

5th - Add to your desired drinking vessel one amount of chopped apples.

6th - By now your water has became steeping hot. Gracefully pour the steeping water over the apples.

7th - Finish this delightful hot drink with one amount of cinnamon.

That's it !!

Please enjoy this hot beverage with loved ones during this Holiday Season ...I know I will be.

Travelling with a balanced Heart Chakra
At the eve of a cross country trip I started going over possible events in my mind, typical things that could occur throughout a full day of travel. Starting with an early trip to the airport, connecting flights, taxi to the train ...that's a full day.
I could imagine an infinite amount of possible experiences, which I could plan for or I could just go with the flow - of course I choose the later
...going with the flow ...and ease.

I know it's always, my experience that I will be having
...so, I intend to focus on balancing my heart chakra.

Being mindful, with a balanced Heart Chakra which is the center for love, compassion and spirituality.

My intention is to travel with love and compassion for those I come in contact with ...spirit as unity of all. - enjoy the day my friends ...peace☼

Gestalt psychology or gestaltism

theory of mind and brain of the Berlin School; the operational principle of gestalt psychology is that the brain is holistic, parallel, and analog, with self-organizing tendencies. The principle maintains that the human eye sees objects in their entirety before perceiving their individual parts. Gestalt psychologists stipulate that perception is the product of complex interactions among various stimuli.

Qualia

a term used in philosophy to refer to individual instances of subjective, conscious experience.

In Considering Allegorical Imagery

In considering allegorical imagery...
We do tent to interpret symbols from a cultural background... I would say tarot and other image or symbol based divinatory or meditation tool could heightened consciousness, in that, one, we are looking within, deeply - connecting to our source - higher conscious one... where we connect within the whole.

A personal frequency does resonate with its like, so I believe, what an image could convey to you personally, could absolutely be shared by someone with that frequency.

So, a few within a shared belief (frequency) could effect the whole. Though we are ONE, the more conscious beings within your awareness with a shared belief - frequency, would be encouraging ...inspiring a more solid belief. "Be the change..."

Researchers have found evidence that our heart’s electromagnetic field (generated by each heartbeat) forms an energy field that is coupled to a field of information not bound by the classic limits of time and space. The term spiritual heart or energetic heart refers to this coupling to what many call their higher power, higher self, universal source, etc. It’s what physicist David Bohm called the implicate order and undivided wholeness.

Researchers are now theorizing that the energetic heart functions as a “receiving station” through which non-linear information couples to the physical heart. Do you name your plants ?? Meet Brzee,

They are living breathing creations of the creator. So if their conscious awareness vibrates along a different plane, they know you as you know them. Any communication is still communication.
We all, that is creation, have our own way of communicating with our like kind ....let's just not limit it to that.

Give a plant a name and treat it as you would any other creature friend. Take note, after a little time, they'll show you... you'll see they'll respond just in the way others respond to you.

That's one way to keep track of how you've been treating others ...which only mirrors how you've been treating yourself.

Corona: Save the Beach Contest

At Rickbischoff - Rustic Contemporary Spirit, we believe in the daily practice of sustainability and Green living. We are an Eco-Aware company. Whenever possible, we use recycled & green materials, and LED lighting. ArtistRickbischoff has his ideas for future projects utilizing solar panels in his artworks.

Needless to say, when we learned of this project, we knew that we must participate. We submitted photos taken from a land art project completed in December 2008 at the beach in Oak Island, NC. Rick created a Yantra Motif using shells, rocks, and other materials found on the beach. We began at sunrise. It was a glorious, peaceful morning.

Our home life promotes green-living, just as our business does. Rick and I pride ourselves on sustaining our beautiful planet and all its natural blessings.

We are grateful for this opportunity, and wanted to share with everyone. The winners will be announced on September 14th.

Yantra Motif Series

This series I call YANTRA MOTIF. Each painting reflects
a meditation tool created in nature by a spiritual avatar,
of which I am writing a story. These paintings
reveal part of that story, Owl, on his journey to spiritual enlightenment.

The style consists of the rustic, organic elements combined with
a contemporary design. Each painting portrays a character,
in black silhouette. The value steps evolve from black to white.
Black is the void; white is pure potentiality. The first step
is our physical realm and the second step is our intellectual world,
or ego. The color expresses the character’s spirit;
the color within the white represents enlightenment.

Just as Owl meditates on these yantras, so can you.

Mother's Day Inspiration

The Story of Jasmine ....

As we approach Mother's Day, I reflect on my life. This story warms my heart and brightens my soul. I am a mother to five rescue pets. Tilly, Abby, Silky, & Tessa came to me over the last few years. They are my beautiful girl dogs. Bastet, our black kitty, wandered onto our porch just last December ... she became our newest family member that very night. We give thanks and honor to all the mothers in our world ... those of human babies and pets alike.

In 2003, police in Warwickshire, England opened a garden shed and found a whimpering, cowering dog. It had been locked in the shed and abandoned. It was dirty and malnourished, and had clearly been abused.

In an act of kindness, the police took the dog, which was a Greyhound female, to the nearby Nuneaton Warwickshire Wildlife Sanctuary, run by a man named Geoff Grewcock, which was known as a willing haven for Animals abandoned, orphaned or otherwise in need.

Geoff and the other sanctuary staff went to work with two aims: to restore the dog to full health, and to win her trust. It took several weeks, but eventually both goals were achieved. They named her Jasmine, and they started to think about finding her an adoptive home.

But Jasmine had other ideas. No one remembers now how it began, but she started welcoming all Animal arrivals at the sanctuary. It wouldn't matter if it was a puppy, a fox cub, a rabbit, or any other lost or hurting Animal, Jasmine would peer into the box or cage and, where possible, deliver a welcoming lick.

Geoff relates one of the early incidents. "We had two puppies that had been abandoned by a nearby railway line. One was a Lakeland Terrier cross and another was a Jack Russell Doberman cross. They were tiny when they arrived at the centre and Jasmine approached them and grabbed one by the scruff of the neck in her mouth and put him on the settee. Then she fetched the other one and sat down with them, cuddling them. But she is like that with all of our animals, even the rabbits. She takes all the stress out of them and it helps them to not only feel close to her but to settle into their new surroundings."

"She has done the same with the fox and badger cubs, she licks the rabbits and guinea pigs and even lets the birds perch on the bridge of her nose."

Jasmine, the timid, abused, deserted waif, became the animal sanctuary's resident surrogate mother, a role for which she might have been born. The list of orphaned and abandoned youngsters she has cared for comprises five fox cubs, four badger cubs, 15 chicks, eight guinea pigs, two stray puppies and 15 rabbits.

And one roe deer fawn. Tiny Bramble, 11 weeks old, was found semi-conscious in a field. Upon arrival at the sanctuary, Jasmine cuddled up to her to keep her warm, and then went into the full foster mum role. Jasmine the greyhound showers Bramble the Roe deer with affection and makes sure nothing is matted.

"They are inseparable," says Geoff. "Bramble walks between her legs and they keep kissing each other. They walk together round the sanctuary. It's a real treat to see them."

Jasmine will continue to care for Bramble until she is old enough to be returned to woodland life. When that happens, Jasmine will not be lonely. She will be too busy showering love and affection on the next orphan or victim of abuse.

Geoff Grewcock opened Nuneaton Warwickshire Wildlife Sanctuary in 2001, he made sure that the sanctuary was dedicated to caring for sick and injured wildlife. "We taking any wild bird or animal with any injury, getting them better with the complete aim of releasing them back to the wild where they belong."

"We take in anything from Swans, foxes, badgers, robins, blackbirds, owls, hawks, kestrels, ducks, finches, hedgehogs, pheasants and many more. Our success rate is about 70%, which we feel is very good, considering the extent of some of the injuries we have to deal with."

Each Resident has a story .... "The sanctuary was set up solely for wild casualties, but due to inconsiderate so called loving pet owners, we had to open our doors to small domestic animals as well. So now we provide a safe haven for dumped, unwanted and miss-treated rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, ferrets, chinchillas, cockatiels, parrots, budgies, the only pets we do not take are cats and dogs, this is due to limited space. We try and find loving new homes for 99% of the domestic pets."

The California Condor

We recently watched a wonderful special on National Geographic Channel 'Wild Areas: Grand Canyon'. We were saddened to learn about the plight of the California Condor, on the verge of extinction. Today, the California Condor is regarded as one of the rarest birds in the world. Placed on the federal endangered species list in 1967, the population had declined to just 22 birds by 1982.

The Peregrine Fund, an organization founded in 1970 by Tom Cade, works nationally and internationally, to conserve birds of prey in nature. Massive efforts by numerous agencies, including The Peregrine Fund, established the California Condor Restoration - Conservation Projects. Their goal: establish self-sustaining wild populations of California Condors through captive propagation, release, and management with the ultimate goal of removing the species from the Endangered Species List.

The agencies have been educating hunters in the area about the dangers of using lead-based ammunition. These scavenger birds ingest spent lead fragments from this ammunition while feeding on “gut piles” left by hunters after field dressing their animals. The National Geographic special did report, thankfully, some progress as many hunters support the change to alternate ammunition.

A more recently noted, and quite unexpected threat to the Condors who call the Grand Canyon home, is the simple practice of a coin toss. Every year thousands of visitors traditionally toss a coin and make a wish at an observation point over-looking the Grand Canyon. Most unfortunately, a dead condor was found by researchers and X-rays showed the condor’s death was caused by a coin lodged in the bird’s throat. This was such a heartbreaking loss of a bird so close to extinction, which no one might have anticipated. With this post, we sincerely hope to educate our readers.
