I tried The Bloomin Burger at Outback Steakhouse. Man, was it good. They put petals from the Bloomin Onion on the burger along with two slices of American cheese, lettuce, tomatoe, and the special Bloomin Onion sauce. You can even get their famous baked patato as a side.

I went to The Porch today on Henderson. Wonderful burger, cooked the way I like it, which is med/med rare. The bun is yeasty and homemade and the tomatoes tasted like garden tomatoes, not hothouse tomatoes. I had the bluecheese on it and it was delicious! They let you opt for fruit instead of fries, and the fruit consisted of raspberries, blackberries, yummy pineapple, etc...not your everyday restaurant fruit salad...eating the fruit made up for the burger with blue cheese!

kind of like a craig's list but people post what they can do or what they need. that would be pretty cool. be sure to add a forums page where people can post ideas for service/community projects or whatever. it could just work.

what if there was a website for doing micro good - small acts of good right from your computer. as long as you are participating in the website you are contributing...not sure what could be done... notes of encouragement, technical help.

maybe instead of micro good, it is a database of connecting skilled workers with needs in their community and around the world? (this is a non-profit idea of a friend of mine).

i just want to make doing good a practical thing...

I'm not sure if anyone will mind this conversation getting religious so fast but being the Light of the World that Jesus calls His disciples to be is, in my opinion, the first step. I have been going through the book of James with my youth group for the past few weeks and we covered James 2:14-26 last week. Here James says that the overflow of faith produces deeds. Feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, etc. Some of the things we do to reach out are Operation Christmas Child through Samaritan's Purse. They collect shoe boxes filled with gifts and take them to kids in impoverished places and share Jesus with them while doing it. We have participated in the 30 Hour Famine and raised money for World Vision to help build schools and wells and provide info to people about growing their own food and they also use this as a way to witness about Jesus. But, there are countless other ways to do good. Picking up trash on the roadside, volunteering at homeless shelters, shoveling snow off of an elderly persons porch or raking someone's leaves. I suppose I've rambled a bit, but I guess anything practical could be anywhere a person sees and need and acts. Especially if they are trying to show someone the love of Jesus.
