I have sensitive skin that is prone to breaking out. Not huge pimples, they are more like smaller bumps. Not sure how to treat them. Salycilic acid makes my skin all red and dry, and I don't like using skin products containing it. I have heard lavender can calm skin, and I have tried it, but it didn't work as well as I would have liked. Could my diet be influencing my skin? I am just looking for alternative treatments that have worked for other people's skin. thanks!

Suggestion:

Your diet can absolutely cause your skin to break out, so can hormones.
If you're constantly eating greasy, junk food, your skin will be greasy and broken out. Avoid sodas, fast food, junk food, ect.
Try eating lots of fresh veggies, and fruits.
Also drink lots of water, being dehydrated, can actually cause you to break out.

Try pouring boiling water into a bowl and putting you face close to it, with a towel over your head. Sit there for 10-15 minutes, then use a towel, dipped in ice water, to rub your face. The steam opens your pores, and the cold water closes them.

I've also heard that witch hazel can be effective in treating acne. I've never tried it.

Try an apricot, sea salt, or sugar scrub/exfoliator. You should be able to get them where ever most face cleaners are sold. I personally LOVE apricot scrubs. I use one on my whole body.

There are also tons of face peels that you can get, that do not contain salicylic acid. I love those also.

Good luck!

Hi, the actual cause of skin tags is still not known. There are a number of theories and factors that may contribute to developing skin tags such as overactive hormones during pregnancy.

Yes, some of the OTC remedies work. you have to be careful when using these remedies since you do not want to damage the surrounding skin. You can easily purchase over-the-counter vitamin E that can be used to get rid of your skin tags. Just apply some of this vitamin to the surface of your tag and then cover it up with the small bandage. By the time that the bandage falls off, the skin tag will probably be attached to it.

I have skin tags or tabs as some people call them. And they bug me a lot!
No one else notices them cause they're very small but I notice them. I read that skin tags usually occur around midlife, but I'm 18 and have gotten them for as long as I can remember. Anyone know why? or how I can get rid of them?
I also read that over-weight people or people with diabetes tend to get them more. I am not over-weight and I don't have diabetes. Its not a big deal, but I keep finding a lot of little skin tags. Any good answers will help.
Thanks!

Suggestion:

Honestly, sometimes there is no reason. The most common reason is that someone in your family had them as well.

The unfortunate thing is that if removed, they often return.

I have a skin tag on my underarm – its been there for a while but until now did not cause much trouble… It Measures about 2mm in width and 4mm in length… Until 2-3 days days agos it swas ok – but lately it has been very sore (its rubbing on my clothes), its is intermittently bleeding (not much) and it is very red, and slightly purple in colour…

I have an appountment with my practice nurse on wednesday, I was just wondering how she would remove it… Thanks…

Suggestion:

If it's a simple skin tag, which it sounds like, those are pretty easy to remove. The doctor can remove those in the office with a little device that basically burns it off. Because these are typically dead skin, this really doesn't hurt so don't get too concerned. Some of them have to be cut off, but that's for the ones that are pretty big. I've even seen some doctors just take a sharp pair of scissors and cut them off, but I wouldn't recommend you try this at home.

I used it for over a year and it didn't work at all for me. I know people it did work for but for severe acne it just didn't seem to live up to the reputation. My dermatologist even said it's no better than the benzoyl peroxide stuff you can get from the drug store. The only thing I'vee found that works decent is olive oil.

not the same one, easy to remove, don't take my advice, but I usually just put a hemostat on it and yank if its small, a pliers would work, if its longer tie a string around the very base, strangulate it with a knot and just wait for it to fall off.
The only thing that bothers me about skin tags are people who leave them on when there so simple to remove.

not the same one, easy to remove, don't take my advice, but I usually just put a hemostat on it and yank if its small, a pliers would work, if its longer tie a string around the very base, strangulate it with a knot and just wait for it to fall off.
The only thing that bothers me about skin tags are people who leave them on when there so simple to remove.

Suggestion:

I just noticed it yesterday and they're pretty small. There's two of them, one on the corner of my eye, and one on top a few centimeters under my eye brow, how would you suggest I get rid of them without harsh ointments that might harm my eyes if they accidentally get inside?

Suggestion:

Consult a dermatologist. I have A LOT of skin tags a few years ago. I had them removed by a dermatologist and they haven't come back yet.
