And what if any, is the relationship or difference between a blog and a YouTube channel?

Essentially the relationship between a blog and a YouTube channel is that on both of them you post “stuff”. The difference is that on a blog you primarily write to post though you may have videos embedded into your blog-posts, while on a YouTube channel you primarily post videos or still images (photos) with audio or spoken soundtrack embedded to engage viewers.

So why did I choose to "YouTube", and how is it going so far? There are probably many varied reasons why I chose to start a YouTube channel. But primarily, it was “the time”. The time to sit down and create, the time to draft, the time to re-draft, the time to proof my posts and ultimately the time to post on my blogs. I didn’t do it for fame or notoriety, or to make money, or to prove a point. It’s probably just an alternative avenue or an offshoot to a hobby I have or maybe just as a hobby. A simpler way (in my opinion) to express myself to a larger audience online.

So far, so good. I have identified an area which is of great interest to me - rugby! Rugby sevens for that matter. As a former rugby player, coach, referee and administrator I take keen interest in what is going on in the world of rugby with keen interest in the shorter version of the game - seven-a-side rugby or #rugbysevens. I also have a keen interest in the development, progress and performance of my national seven-a-side rugby team, #Kenya7s.

Given the above factors I find myself constantly scouring the internet in my spare time, searching for news on how Kenya7s are progressing or performing on the world stage at the HSBC sponsored World Rugby Sevens Series or at the Rugby Sevens World Cup when it does take place.

So what better way (I thought to myself) to keep a record of #Kenya7s progress and performance than to document it on a YouTube channel for myself and for others who may be interested in following Kenya7s. Lo and behold the idea of Kenya Rugby7s Extravaganza was born.

EdExpo Kenya on the other hand was set up out of necessity as a way to reach my clients and their target markets in higher education.

So if you are a #rugbysevens fan, or you are interested in matters higher education, please check out my YouTube channels Kenya Rugby7s Extravaganza and EdExpo Kenya.

The success of both? Only time will tell but then again, I just may have stumbled upon another reason to keep this blog going - an avenue through which I can enlighten you the ups and downs of my journey as a “YouTuber”

The value of product or service reviews

Just how valuable is a product or service review?

As more and more consumers begin to rely on product or service reviews for adequate advice on any product or service, studies show that objective use of these reviews can in fact increase sales by improving potential user perceptions. These reviews help establish credibility and trust in the minds of potential customers and often help them decide whether or not to buy or use a particular product or service. From a marketing stand point, they are also a perfect way for companies to put across positive messages about their products or services in a cost effective way . The key factor in encouraging a consumer, to buy or not to buy the product or service, is the quality of the review. It must grab the attention of the reader right away and encourage a positive decision to go out and buy the product or use the service.

A review is an evaluation of a product, a service or a company. There are different types of reviews. A consumer review refers to a review by the owner of a product/service or a user who has sufficient experience using it to comment on reliability and whether or not it delivers on its promise. An expert review usually refers to a review by someone who has tested several different products or services within a particular product or service line to find out which one works best. A paid review is the kind where the manufacturer, developer or reseller pays someone to review his product or service. Expert reviews are the most effective, especially if you have a good product or service, because they tend to be given genuinely. The general thinking about paid reviews is often that the reviewers have been offered incentives for what they say in their reviews.

A good review needs to be brutally honest, even if it means saying negative things. Consumers who are trying to decide whether or not to buy a product need to know its good and bad aspects in order to make a more informed decision. The best reviews are normally those written by reviewers who have actually experienced a product or service. Contrary to popular belief, negative reviews can sometimes build product or service credibility. If your reviews are always positive, consumers may be led to believe that you are hiding the negatives and only highlighting the positives. A mix of negative and positive reviews can be used to improve product and service perception as this makes your offering look honest, meaning that potential users will not only trust your reviewers, but trust your products as well. Whereas a positive review convinces the users that your offering delivers on what they expect and want, a negative review will show the product or service provider exactly what they are not getting right and offer them a chance to rectify it and get it right. Good product reviews will hype the strengths of a product or service while at the same time weighing in the weaknesses in a way that makes certain the strengths overshadow the weaknesses.

The value of reviews is fast becoming widespread as more consumers turn towards the internet for product research. Reviews have now become the largest influencers on how consumers make purchasing decisions in almost as similar a way as word-of-mouth determines the buying process. But despite these factors, many companies are still lagging behind in their use of reviews.

Reviews can deliver value market intelligence and vital as well as convincing information about your product to potential clients. They have the effect of making people talk about what your product or service is doing, how it affected them, and where they purchased their product or service. The ultimate aim of online reviews is to make a product or service “go viral”. When people start talking about a product or service without being forced to, traffic grows substantially, and in return, more conversions are turned into sales, which ultimately is the goal of reviews - to increase sales.

Reviews deliver two value propositions - knowledge and opportunity and those who have embraced reviews as a sales and marketing tool are gathering this knowledge and benefiting from the opportunity to improve and adapt their product and services to what their consumers want.

Simply put, consumers have become firm believers in product reviews and marketers will need to catch up in order to keep their products or services relevant.

Swearing in the company of women

Even though I would not call women who frown upon men who swear in their presence prudish, I must say that I also know some women who swear. I think swearing is offensive, whether you are a man or woman, or whether in the company of men or women, or even when you are alone.

Personally I think swearing makes one unpleasant to be with and it will definitely put your relationships with others in jeopardy.

Okay, so some people say that letting off a few swear words does help in venting pent up frustration but, if you feel the need to swear with every sentence just because things are not going your way (which many men I know tend to do), then that’s just not on.

Before we let loose with all those swear words, we should first consider the people around us, and I don’t just mean the women around us! I’m talking about the other men who are offended by this and the children around us who tend to quickly pick up these bad habits.

Whereas swearing might be considered mainstream in today’s society it does jeopardize relationships in a number of ways, more so where those who do not condone it are concerned. Even those who do are affected by it especially when the swearing is misconstrued to be directed at them.

It portrays a bad impression of you during those times when things just don’t seem to go right (and we all have those days, don’t we). You end up looking like someone who looses control of situations rather too easily and this erodes whatever respect people might have had of you.

Whenever we use the “F” word or any other such epithet, we need only look at the people around us to see that the look we are getting is not one of admiration. People tend to be uncomfortable with the use of such cuss words and when it becomes habitual they don’t want to deal with you and thus try to avoid you when they can.

Equally the use of abrasive language (I never heard anyone use pleasant swear words) often turns what might have been engaging discussion or other activity into arguments, fights or contests of wits and this contributes to the decline of civility.

Whereas it may be said that people swear mostly when they are angry or frustrated, I still believe there are other, more productive ways to express these emotions which would help us get along in a more pleasant manner with those around us.

One might say that I want to live in Utopia but then again I believe there are other options.

Stop this attack on the heart of Kenya!

Labels: abortion, Kenya, population, Pro life, reproductive health, unborn 0 comments
Many people have protested the violation of Kenya’s constitution and traditional values by the Kenyan Parliament and large international pro-abortion organizations.

Kenyans are pro-life! Their traditional love for life is in their constitution, which only reflects what is in their hearts and institutions. The new articles added to the proposed new constitution of Kenya and approved by parliament under heavy pressure from Western elites are an assault on the very heart of the Kenyan people.

Although the Kenyan constitution has long had language defending the life of the unborn from conception, new language has been added and approved by the Kenyan parliament which would effectively override any pro-life provision, opening the door to legalized abortion. Before the revised constitution can come into force, it must be approved by popular vote, which is expected to occur in July of this year.

The greatest insult is that this attack is happening under the banner of ‘improving women’s health’. The only ones who believe that killing an unborn child is good for a woman’s health are those who will profit from the slaughter. These and the Western powers who are pouring untold millions of dollars into measures to keep Africa’s children from being born. This is nothing but population control, an imperialist assault intended to rob Africa of its future by eliminating her children. It is a disgrace.

read more... http://www.right2life.or.ke

The One Million Messages Project - SAY NO to Abortion in Kenya

The Vote wise, Vote Life – SAY NO TO ABORTION one million messages project is a viral marketing campaign targeted to reach one million people every week with the message to VOTE NO TO ABORTION at the upcoming Proposed constitution of Kenya referendum.

We want to reach every pro-life household in Kenya with the important message of truth about what the Proposed Constitution of Kenya says about abortion in the Bill of Rights of the Proposed Constitution of Kenya.

The two contentious clauses we want removed before the referendum are:

Article 26, Clause (4)
Abortion is not permitted unless, in the opinion of a trained health professional, there is need for emergency treatment, or the life or health of the mother is in danger, or if permitted by any other written law.

Article 43, Clause (1), (a)
Every person has the right to the highest attainable standard of health, which includes the right to health services, including reproductive health care.

In Article 26 (4), the exception “mothers health is in danger” opens the doors to abortion on demand. The reference to a “trained health professional” has not been clearly defined which gives practically anyone in the field of health the right to legally sanction an abortion.

In Article 46 (1) (a), “Reproductive health care” has not been clearly defined and this is actually a common euphemism used for access to abortion.

Right now, we need to reach pro-life voters with the vital truth about the pro-abortion, content of the Bill of Rights in the Proposed Constitution of Kenya, and we can’t do it without your help.

The public must be warned about the pro-abortion radicalism of The proposed Bill of Rights.

It is only through the support of people like you that this Vote wise, Vote Life, SAY NO TO ABORTION project will be made possible.

Your donations and help in spreading the messages on this page will help us educate and mobilize pro-life voters across the country, and to recruit and equip the new leaders who must be raised up if we are to restore respect for human life at every stage, from conception to natural death.

Thank you for your faithfulness and support!

Read more at The Right to Life Campaign www.right2life.or.ke/vote-life.html

Pro-Life Opposition Growing to Kenya Constitution

Christian churches have united in Kenya in opposition to a proposed constitution scheduled for a national referendum on August 4 and have taken a leading role in the No campaign.

The constitution includes a new ‘health’ exception on abortion which changes current law and will likely open the door to abortion on demand.

That's because the definition of "health" will likely include the broad social and economic factors used to authorize unlimited abortions.

The formal government education campaign which leads the ‘Yes’ side is underway led by the Committee of Experts (CoE)— the very body that inserted the pro-abortion language into the proposed constitution. A number of members of this committee are known to support the legalization of abortion.

The committee has been openly hostile to the churches as the churches conduct their own educational campaign encouraging a ‘No” vote.

Read More at The Right to Life Campaign www.right2life.or.ke

Media Etiquette

Our world is a beautiful world. A world of diverse cultures, ethnicities and obviously of different opinions, views and mind sets.

Whereas I believe in the respect of diversity there are some things that are just not on.

Recently I had an experience that I believe is worth sharing. I walked to the bus stop, as I usually do every morning, and just like every other morning I had a long line of buses to choose from. With all of them sporting standard features, I boarded one whose radio was tuned to my favorite English language station. As we sped off towards the Central Business District, and just when my favorite morning talk show was about to begin, the driver of the bus unilaterally changed stations and tuned into his vernacular station. I made a mental note never to board that particular vehicle again on my way to, or from work.

This incident got me to thinking about the media and its role as an entertainer, an educator and its value to the business community in particular as a tool for attracting and maintaining customers. The proliferation of media houses and new radio and TV stations has thrown open a window of endless opportunity for businesses to reach and attract customers.

But when we have vernacular radio stations broadcasting in a language that can only be understood by a select few people on a bus to work, we seem to be losing the plot.

Public transport, hospitals, restaurants, shopping malls, banking halls and other establishments that cater for cosmopolitan populations need to be particularly conscious of the stations that they tune into.

This should never be left to the whim of the staff or those closest to the dial. Random and unilateral changing of stations without due consideration to those watching or listening in can make your customers divorce you.

The challenge is to both the media houses and public utility providers to understand their public and accordingly adjust their choices.

Counterfeit Teaching

First and foremost it is important for us to note that people become believers through hearing the inspired word of God.

For one to mislead a believer you must first bring in teachings that will confuse them. Just like in the corporate world, there are major areas of counterfeit teaching in religion.

Counterfeit religion always has a negative specialization on portions of the scriptures. Their teaching of God’s word is not at all comprehensive and most churches that fall under this category always delve into the teachings of the end times. Let us call them e.t.c (end time churches). They always seem to have a great love for new members who may even be entitled to travel allowance just to make sure they have no excuse for their absence at the next service. In most circumstances the extra material is more honored than the bible itself and will always place more emphasis on the distortions that they want to amplify. For those that have a problem with Jesus, they will delete scripture that describes Him as the Son of God.

Counterfeit teaching discourages people from questioning. The Bible allows us to question and base our argument on the word of God. The best way to identify counterfeit teaching is when someone denies that salvation is by grace. The distorted teaching will emphasize what you need to do to be saved – you must be good, you must tithe, and so on and so forth. The bible is very clear in Ephesians chapter 2 that salvation is not by works but by grace alone lest any man boasts.

Beware those that preach prosperity! I have nothing against prospering but when that becomes a specialization by a church then it becomes cultic.

My point here is that Christianity has the Bible as the only authoritative word of God and any addition or subtraction from this is counterfeit teaching.

Make a Personality Statement

The receptionist has just ushered you into the office of a senior executive in a blue chip company. The serious looking chap behind the large desk motions you to a seat while he finishes off with a telephone conversation on his fixed line.

In a few minutes, he is finished and extends his hand across the desk.

“How can I help you?” he asks, as you nervously shake his hand. But before you can answer, his mobile phone rings and you are grateful for the few extra minutes the mobile phone call will give you to organize your thoughts before you make your pitch. But hold on a minute! What did you just hear before he answered his mobile phone? Did you hear right? Was that a tune from some obscene hip hop song you have heard previously? Before we pass judgment on this guy, let’s consider one thought for a moment. What is wrong with business executives having ring tones of their own choice on their phones? After all there are no laws or standards for ring tones. And what is a ring tone anyway? It’s basically music right?

As it is universally agreed that the genre of music you listen to says a lot about you then it would follow that just as the model and make of phone and its ring tone says quite the same about you. A customized ring tones provide you an opportunity to stamp your personality on your phone and gives you the opportunity to show some creativity. You can actually download some very creative tunes for your phone from the internet, and in an instant you are ready to showcase your new ring tone.

When buying a mobile phone you should keep in mind that some models or certain series within of a particular model do not support downloaded tones.

So take your time, take your pick and make a personality statement.

Want to work from home?
