The National Organization for Women called on the Raiders to suspend coach Tom Cable while the team investigates allegations he has a history of violent behavior toward women.

NOW president Terry O’Neill praised the Raiders in a statement for undertaking a “serious evaluation” of charges made by Cable’s first wife, Sandy Cable, and former girlfriend, Marie Lutz, that the coach physically abused them at various times during their relationships.

But she said that Cable should be suspended while that investigation proceeds. The Raiders had no comment.

“This is the National Football League. Boys and girls around the country, as well as many women, look to the leaders of the NFL as our role models,” O’Neill said in a phone interview. “Why would the NFL tolerate having a man who admits to having battered his wife.”

Cable has acknowledged striking Sandy Cable with an open hand more than 20 years ago and said it was the only time he’s ever touched a woman inappropriately. Marie Lutz accused Cable of assaulting her as recently as last January, but Cable said previously he was cleared by police of any wrongdoing in that case.

“I take the accusations very seriously,” O’Neill said. “What you have is a man who seems to be a person who habitually uses violence to get what he wants. That’s what batterers do.”

Based on their present play on their field and the non-development of JaMarcus Russell, Tom Cable has less than 20% chance of remaining the Raiders coach next year.

A long winning streak can change that quickly, and the X factor of Mr. Davis leaves everyone guessing. However, with the past week of scrutiny into his past, Cable will be lucky if he lasts through the bye week. And that is completely unfair to the man Tom Cable.

Cable’s past history is nothing to laugh or joke about, but that is his history to deal with not everyone in the US to know about. And each allegation was investigated by the authorities and dealt with accordingly at that time.

If he needs to answer questions when his civil lawsuit from Randy Hanson is filed questioning his past behavior patterns, that is fine in a court of law. He doesn’t, though, need to be run through the wringer or suspended while this is being reviewed.

He’s waited his whole career to get an opportunity as a NFL head coach, and his performance should dictate if he keeps that or not. However, it will be taken away because ESPN is now getting into this complete joke of “investigative reporting”, like TMZ. What, did ESPN only have 1hr 50minues of Brett Favre discussion and needed 10 minutes of filler? Leave the man alone.

Raiders Coach Tom Cable is coming out and stating that he’s spoken with owner Al Davis about allegations that Cable has a history of violent behavior toward women. “What we talked about is between us and we’ll keep it that way,” he said.

Cable said the conversation came within the past two days and that his job status was not discussed. Cable said he plans to coach the team for the remainder of the season.

The Raiders are undergoing a “serious evaluation” of allegations made to ESPN by Cable’s first wife, Sandy Cable, and former girlfriend, Marie Lutz, that the coach physically abused them at various times during their relationships.

Cable acknowledged striking Sandy Cable with an open hand in a statement on Sunday. Cable said the altercation happened more than 20 years ago and was the only time he’s ever touched a woman inappropriately. He stood by that statement Wednesday, declining to answer any questions on the topic.

Despite an 8-point loss to the Chargers Sunday, JaMarcus Russell was pleased with how he played:

Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell completed 14 of 22 passes for 109 yards and one interception that was thrown towards Zach Miller, who was surrounded by powder blue San Diego jerseys, led to the Chargers first touchdown. He was lucky a first-and-10 forced pass late in the game wasn’t intercepted when the Raiders got a field goal. Russell completed just two passes in eight attempts to wide receivers for 16 yards, and coach Tom Cable so distrusted the passing offense he put the game in the hands of his defense and Sebastian Janikowski rather than Russell. “I did a pretty good job,” Russell told reporters. “When it all boils down to it, you had a chance at the end to try and win. Didn’t do too much damage with the interception. No matter what happened, I think we came out and fought despite the score and just kept pushing and just came out short in the end.”

JaMarcus Russell’s Raiders teammates remain steadfast in their belief that he is just going through a rough stretch and that he remains the best option at quarterback for a team that has lacked a proven one since Rich Gannon retired after the 2004 season. “He’s fine,” defensive end Jay Richardson said Wednesday. “He’s a confident guy. He’s understanding work ethic and what it takes to be a No. 1 quarterback. He’s getting there. We all have confidence in him and confidence in our scheme and what we’re doing. We’ll be fine.” Left offensive tackle Mario Henderson said his confidence in Russell is as high now as it was at the start of the season and that how well a quarterback plays goes hand in hand with how the 10 other guys on the field perform.

Will Smith, as a young rapper Fresh Prince, sang the song Parent’s Just Don’t Understand. Here is my version, minus the rapping…

A week after stopping one of the most potent offenses in the league by pressuring the QB, that the Raiders didn’t pressure a rookie QB coming off a 5 pick game. ..I just don’t understand.

A week after being even in plays on the field by running the ball, that the Raiders came out against their own goal line and tried to pass against a team looking to pressure JaFumble Russell…I just don’t understand
How the Raiders sales team is suppose to sell tickets to a game when such a horrible product is on the field. I was there in the black hole and if you pushed everyone down from the upper deck, the upper deck would have been empty…I just don’t understand.

Eugene Monroe, BJ Raji, Michael Crabtree, and Michael Oher were selected after the Raiders drafted Darrius Hayward-Bey. Each of those players would have filled a hole than another speed burner, and after Crabtree out-produced DHB in one game…I just don’t understand.

Larry Fitzgerald, Phillip Rivers, Steven Jackson, Aaron Rodgers, Roddy White, Jay Cutler, Haloti Ngata, Calvin Johnson, Adrian Petersen, Joe Thomas, Glen Dorsey, Joe Flacco, Vernon Gholston, Jerod Mayo and Jonathan Stewart were selected right after the Raiders made draft picks from 2004-2008. Yet, they don’t have a GM and the owner makes the call…I just don’t understand.

That anyone would still support JaFumble after his recent comments of not taking any responsibility for the loss on Sunday. He essentially pointed his finger at the rest of the team and said ask them why we lost, it wasn’t me. ..I just don’t understand.

Why do I remain a fan?…I just don’t understand.
