I have recently given up cannabis… but feel really tired?

I am 20 and gave up cannabis 4 days ago after 7 years of regular usage!! I thought that I would get more energy from giving up but in fact although I have been getting plenty of sleep (10 hours plus) I seem to be more tired than when I was smoking!! My lungs feel great though and ive been having some crazyy dreams!! Anyone have any feedback on my sleep problem?? Also at the moment I tend to go to bed at around 2am and wake up about 12 midday, do you think if I went to bed at midnight and woke up at 10am instead I would be leess tired?? cheers guys

The road out of addiction to give up smoking marijuana can be long and bumpy and many give up halfway through this grueling journey, turn around and go home if they feel they are not reaching the finishing line fast enough. Does this seem odd to you?

While no one likes failing and losing when it comes to marijuana addiction or any other addiction people seem to construe that stumbling along the way and giving in sets them back to the starting line and to go back that far is so disheartening they often just give in. This is quite illogical because of the following reasons:

- If you do give in and smoke weed even thought you promised yourself not to this is not the same as starting again!

- Each time you fall, you get back up, you have not retreated anywhere. You are still in the same place on your journey, just a bit more bruised and dusty than before … but wiser and tougher also.

Having a smoke then feeling like a failure is not an option when you want to really give up smoking marijuana. Instead, you should look at the reasons as to WHY you gave in so you know how to avoid a similar situation in the future. Often the real reasons behind your difficulties are revealed after you try to quit and you succumb to the weed again allowing greater insight into your addiction and thus the seeds of complete freedom from marijuana.

So remember that if you fall it does not move the finish line, it just delays it!

Alternative Museums In Amsterdam

Amsterdam is home to a number of surprises. Here, a museum may not be just a mere collection of art or artefacts from a bygone era.

Check out the Amsterdam Hash, Hemp, and Marijuana Museum for something a little “different.” Found in the middle of the RLD, the museum displays a thriving section of marijuana plants in an indoor garden. In one part of the museum, you can learn about cannabis and its history. The information is loaded with facts and is not sensationalized in any way. It discusses the use of hemp in the textile and paper manufacturing industries, the use of marijuana as medicine through the ages, and its use as a recreational drug.

The Amsterdam Torture Museum is in stark contradiction to its neighbour—the Bloemenmarkt floating flower market. Known for being dark and dingy, the museum documents the history of torture through the ages, displaying old prints as well as real torture devices. Here, you’ll find the guillotine, spiked Inquisition Chair, rack, and “skullcracker” cap, which were all used at some point by officials of the church or state.

The Verzetsmuseum, or Resistance Museum, brings to life the struggle for resistance of the occupation of the Netherlands. There are written and verbal personal testimonies and an exhibit honouring those who had gone to great lengths for sheltering the movement, including hiding radio transmitters in matchboxes or microfilm in a razor.

The museum also highlights the choices of individuals to be involved in the movement, help when requested, or refuse involvement. No judgments are made about these decisions. Rather, it is meant to highlight the effect of the occupation on the individual.

The Museum Geelvinck Hinlopen Huis is one of the hidden gems of the city. It is run by volunteers and only opens on weekends. Once through the coach house entrance, you’ll find yourself in a large garden leading up to the main house. Built in 1687 by rich merchant and city alderman Albert Geelvinck, it maintains four period rooms that tell a different part of the house’s history. Here, you’ll find 17th century oil paintings and 18th century Chinese and Dutch porcelain, arranged as if the residents had momentarily left the table. There is also a 19th century Adam Style

library. The museum is a registered monument and museum, but it is still used by the original owners. Various shows and exhibitions are scheduled at different times of the year.

Madame Tussaud, perhaps, needs no introduction, although the one in Amsterdam appears to have a more historical theme than those in London, New York, and Copenhagen. You’ll find the colourful “Spirit of the Dutch” character as you enter, to walk you through the country’s history while including the wax figures in the tale. Everyone from Dutch explorers to Dutch painters like Rembrandt are represented. One especially interesting room contains a physical representation of a Master’s painting.

Yet another fascinating museum is the Katten Kabinet, or Cat Cabinet. As a cat lover, you simply can’t miss this one. It houses a large collection of artwork with cats as a central theme. Japanese artist Tsugouharu Foujita and Russian artist Nicolas Tarkhoff are both represented. The museum features cats in every form, size, shape, and more, showcasing cats in art and culture through the ages.

How to quit smoking marijuana can be a difficult thing for some people to undertake. The emotional side of things is a major part of the whole process but it is important to discuss the physical implication as well such as possible withdrawal symptoms from stopping smoking pot and how you can deal with them and reduce the severity with detoxification.

Firstly not everyone has a physical reaction when quitting marijuana. Some people stop and that is it, no change. Other may suffer from a range of side effects which are mild in comparison to the withdrawal effects of some other harder drugs but are never the less uncomfortable. Such problems include:

• Insomnia
• Wild and vivid dreams
• Nausea
• ‘Fuzzy’ feeling in the head
• Anxiety
• Depression
• Lethargy

Most of the time these things last no longer than a week or two as the residual THC cleans out of your system and your body becomes accustomed to a lack of marijuana smoking. However THC has a tendency to stay in the body for a long time after that in smaller amounts which often does not do that much but is still there. To speed up the recovery process there are a few things you can do to detoxify yourself.

Exercise – The benefits of regular exercise is immense as well as doing a few things to directly help your symptoms and attempt to quit pot. Firstly it produces a feel good chemical called endorphins which can often help you feel good and rewarded without smoking pot. IT also helps flush out THC quicker by burning fat cells that it hides in. Not to mention general fitness is desirable and helps build your immune system and a better state of mind, body image and importantly gives you a sense of achievement that is incredibly gratifying and helpful. This exercise does not need to be heavy like weight lifting if you do not want it to be. You choose light exercise like walking, jogging, yoga and aerobics.

Water and Green Tea – You may be sick of the color green when quitting pot but green tea is a good way to hydrate and give yourself other health benefits including antioxidants. The main goal however is to drink a lot of liquid which is essential in an all body detox which can flush out toxins and other things like THC from your system faster.
