The potential for motorbikes to be used continuously indoors has never really been an option for petrol bikes because of all the noise and fumes. Very few indoor motorcycle events have ever been held in the UK and most last only a few days held in places like the NEC and the O2 dome.

Quantya electric motorbikes work really well for trail and enduro style riding, tearing up hills with ease, flying over jumps, and weaving impressively round woodlands and forest trails. The 2 hour battery life is more than adequate for an enjoyable ride in natural surroundings – and then for longer runs batteries can now be swapped over in little over 1 minute if you have a spare one set aside, charged up and ready. As you can see here the Quantya bikes’ off road performance is truly amazing. This video from Switzerland shows some fast paced enduro trail riding action.

As many of you know we have been working on setting up QuantyaparX in the UK. This is an exciting concept which would create a chain of eco friendly and fun business’. Exactly what the UK needs right now. However we have encountered some stumbling blocks just as we were ready to really move forward with our first park in Kinver, Staffordshire. The parks would operate much like a go karting track, or quad trekking centre where they take bookings over the phone for groups, stag partys and corporate entertainment. There would only have been a small number of people around at any one time.

As is often the case – the press made uneducated and sensationalist articles condemning the project. You can see some of the comments the local newspaper the Express and Star and more from the Stourbridge News.

The main complaints from the public were regarding noise – the track was compared to a full scale motocross event that was held a few years ago. The locals were concerned the bikes would disrupt the peace and quiet of the surrounding countryside. Obviously this is totally misguided as the bikes create no noise. They do not pollute either.

The planning permission was then refused on the basis of access. They were worried about the country roads dealing with a large increase in the traffic volume. Obviously with only group bookings and hired electric bikes to be allowed on the track this strictly limits the number of cars coming each day. This should cause little to no impact on local roads and residents near Beacon Lane and roads in or near Kinver.

We are asking everyone who wishes to support the local track to fill in our petition in order to help us appeal against the planning authority.

Quantya at the CLA Game Fair

The CLA Game Fair was held between the 23rd and 25th of July at Ragley Hall near Alcester. The event saw huge crowds everyday with 144 000 people coming through the games over 3 days. We built a mini QuantyaparX set up with a few bikes and all the kit a park would require. The small track worked perfectly for the event with loads of people getting a chance to experience the bikes. Everyone from experienced motocross riders to kids who had never ridden a motorbike before rode the track and loved the bikes. Here is a small video showing some of the action from the weekend.

Quantya to attend CLA Game Fair 23rd-25th July

Quantya are sponsoring the Active Countryside area at the CLA Gamefair. The event will be held at Ragley Hall near Alcester, Warwickshire, on the 23rd – 25th July 2010. At the Game Fair Quantya will be building a mini QuantyaparX set up allowing the public to experience riding an electric motorbike first hand. This will mimic the feel of a Quantya Park but on a much smaller scale. Quantya staff will be on hand to provide information and answer questions about the bikes as well as information for anyone interested in setting up a Quantya Park.

You will find Quantya inside the Active Countryside Area of the Game Fair. We look forward to seeing you there.

Quantya at Ledbury MCC Grass Track this weekend!

Join us in Ledbury on Saturday afternoon, to watch some grass track racing – Quantya will be racing 4 electric dirt bikes round the Ledbury MCC Grass Track – the first electric bike competition in the UK.

This is what grass track racing looks like for those who do not know:

Gates open at 12pm – the field is opposite the rugby club on the Ledbury to Ross road. We will be on track in the interval – only for 20 minutes at around 5. 30 or 6pm – about 4 x 360m laps. Entry fees are going to charity.

Ours will seem like a ghost race (almost silent after all the petrol bikes on before us) – but just as fast and just as exciting.

Recently appointed Quantya UK Sales Manager, Rob Montgomery, visited Quantyaparx Windorf in Germany in April and was well impressed by the potential for electric bike parks hire and ride in the UK. Noise is understandably a big issue with local planning authorities but Quantya bikes offer a clean, silent alternative for off road sport and leisure seekers that is ideal for use on smaller off road tracks at multiple locations close to active urban populations with convenient access by public transport.
