The Fendi newest bag is named after one of the Fendi sisters, Anna, paying homage to the passion and commitment of the sisters who first started the house of Fendi years ago. The Anna 1322 is entirely crafted by hand and the number 1322 refers to nothing else but the number of hand stitches required to form the bag. The bag is part of the house’s premium Selleria leather collection that follows after the other bag named after another sister, the Carla 650. Price for the Anna 1322 is SGD4,000 in Singapore.

If you are looking for an upscale ladylike bag nowadays, Gucci might no longer top the list of what come to mind. But it seems like there is still hope in the land of overwhelming GG print and it comes in the form of Jaguar print leather bag. The combination of black glazed leather trimmings on this gorgeous Jaguar print leather just elevates this seasoned bag design to a whole new level of glam. Gucci rarely lines its bags with leather but for this particular one, it comes with soft rose beige leather lining that provides contrast to the striking exterior. Yes, it looks eerily similar to the iconic Hermes Birkin and although I have grown fonder ever since I got the chance to play with it, I am still nowhere near declaring my love for the Saint Laurent Sac du Jour. Then the small version (about the size of Birkin 30) of the bag arrives and it comes with a detachable shoulder strap. This is a game changer! Besides the strap, the accordion inspired design of the bag allows it to expand and get roomier than it originally is. The zipper compartment also addresses problems that many Birkin lovers face but do not mention. Now, the small Sac du Jour suddenly does not seem so bad, don’t you think? Why doesn’t a Birkin come with a shoulder strap? Maybe it will one day and when it does, we have this Saint Laurent Sax du Jour small to thank. It has been a while since I last saw a Burberry bag and think that it will appeal to the crowd. The Blaze collection might have gathered some attention, especially with the opaque PVC series but this studded leather version in the small size and comes with a strap might just be the real winner. As long as the studded look still holds its appeal, this bag will remain in demand. Price is USD2,195 for pre-order on Neiman Marcus.

Move over Celine Box and Hermes Constance because I am obsessed with the Tom Ford Natalia in large. I have been smitten by this bag since it first came out. Somehow that oversize buckle just etched itself in my very mind so when I saw Gwyneth carrying it in the large size, I know that I am in trouble. Price of this beauty (the bag!) is USD3,980, which is pretty expensive and an effective deterrent. Then again, it is a Tom Ford bag and this baby is just comparable to the Celine Box that I have come to love so much too.

I am a little puzzled, if I were to be honest. Hedi Slimane cleaned up all the Ys from YSL only to reuse this YSL logo again on this new clutch? It looks somehow too similar to the BDJ clutch to me except that the YSL logo emboss has been replaced with a gold tone metal and is now called Cassandre instead. Is it beautiful? It surely is and that is why the BDJ was very commercially successful. The new Saint Laurent Cassandre clutch carries the old YSL logo back. Then again, if this makes the consumer happy, why not. Of all the Hollywood moments, there is one this year that is surely going to be a spectacle and it is Baz Luhrmann’s interpretation of F.Scott Fitzgerald’s classic, The Great Gatsby. The movie will open in Singapore next Thursday, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Carey Mulligan, just to name a few. Bringing 1920s “Gatsby” parties into live and to have them still look impressive to audience almost a century later is a tall order but Baz Luhrmann knows his game well and whom to engage.

For fashion, Miuccia Prada is definitely the go-to person when it comes to creating looks that revive the spirit of the past but appear, if not current, almost futuristic. The result is 40 Prada and Miu Miu looks for the movie that, in my opinion, rival those of the best Couture shows from Dior, Lanvin and Chanel themselves. The amazing thing is that, the source of all these looks came from Miuccia’s past runway archives, restyled and redone to fit into the movie. I can’t wait for the movie to open next Thursday and see how Miuccia’s creations come to live on the silver screen. Not to mention DiCaprio’s performance as Jay Gatsby himself that has gained yet another Oscar buzz for him. There is almost no reason to miss this movie. I am ready to be transported back to the 1920s.

Has Prada finally sold out to potential of selling out bags with wings that look almost identical as the iconic Celine Luggage? The New Arrival catalog on prada.com is now filled only with options for the newly launched Mini Luggage Wing Tote bags. The bag is available in two different sizes, which are pretty close to both Celine Mini and Micro each and available in three leather options – Smooth calf, Suede and Pony hair. Instead of one single zipper as closure, the bag comes with double zippers ala the Galleria style, preserving some Prada touches. There is also detachable shoulder strap that comes with the bag, which will surely be appreciated. Given the fact that the Celine Luggage is still relatively hard to come by in some countries, will Prada successfully leverage on the shortage of Celine Luggage supply and overwhelming demand? This Prada bag is also strategically priced from EUR1,250 onwards in full suede for the smaller one to EUR1,400 for the bigger one in smooth calf. There are rare moments when a reinterpretation of a successful bag becomes even more appealing, if not as appealing, as the original. Taking inspiration from the Reed Krakoff already famous Boxer, the Fighter is the Bowling version of the tote. The Celine Trapeze is by now an icon. Once in a while though, I still hear people complaining about the hassle of the flap so when I see this new variation of the Trapeze, called the Celine Trapeze Double Zipper from the Spring/Summer 2013 collection, I believe haters will run out of excuse for not owning this wonderful bag.
