I do think it is important that people know what these blasphemies are, but I still think asterisks should have been used in the middle of the words. Jesus is LORD

I was watching TV today and heard a report that plans are been drawn up to make it illegal to state that Jesus is the only way (or something to that effect). I could easily vent my anger here, but instead I felt stirred in my spirit to just design something positive—and here it is—Jesus is LORD.

This stunning Christian T-shirt Design for Judah Method was created by Edward Mcintyre. On his Behance page, it shows how he designed the look of this lion print. The project is named the Judah Method Bleaching Experiment.

Edwards starts to explain the process: “I created this experiential tee as a concept logo tee for Judah Method Clothing a small christian clothing company. The tee was created using a vinyl car decal, ducktape and bleach. While this is not a cost effective way to mass produce tee’s it is a great way to prototype. Here is some insight as to the process, a photo guide, and the finished concept.” Read More here.

This Easter, Don’t Forget What Jesus Did for You

With all the chocolate eggs and holidays, don’t forget that Easter is all about Jesus, the Son of the living God.

He died to save us from our sins and rose again! He offers Salvation to all who respond and live for Him. If you don’t know Jesus, and would like more information, I encourage you to read these questions and answers about Jesus.

Finally, on this Good Friday, I just like to say that Jesus us LORD, the Saviour prophesied from the old-Testament Prophet Isaiah. Here’s my favourite verse from the Bible:

The “Hope, Joy, and Smiling Clouds” is a Christian T shirt design created by Stuart Hunnable of ArmourUp. Stuart has a goal to revitalise Christian T-shirt design, by bringing tees to the market that are contemporary, relevant, and pretty quirky. At the same time, the Christian Tees are not being too “in your face” either. Their campaign is just the first step towards making that a reality.

If you’re not sure about how Kickstarter works, it’s a pretty straightforward process (in this case). Anyone that pledges $17 or more gets a T shirt, providing we reach their goal of $1,700 total. If they don’t reach it, they pay nothing… its explained in more detail on the Kickstarter page itself, which also includes an explanatory video here.

ArmourUp.com History: “We started ArmourUp in 2011 with several goals in mind”:

• Create great Christian T-shirt designs people will enjoy wearing

I was emailed by another Christian Graphic Designer, like myself. I’ll keep his name anonymous for privacy reasons, but this post shows a large part of the email he sent to me. Below, I’ve attempted to answer his questions about regarding his concerns of Christians in the design field. I’m showing this so that other designers can benefit from further discussions that may pursue. Here goes:

The Email and my Reply…

Email: Hello, I am also a Christian graphic designer/ illustrator. I’ve been freelancing for my church- making flyers, a tract, logo designs for their youth and young adult ministries. Although, I am grateful for the opportunities they have given me. However, I’ve been finding it very difficult to find paying graphic design jobs. I’m a recent graduate, but it seems that I’m getting nowhere with my chosen career. I too had made the decision to put God first in my career, even made my logo to symbolize that Jesus comes first.

To be honest with you I thought I was the only one. I haven’t come across a graphic designer who put Jesus all over their work, until I came across your website. So I just wanted to ask you, do you design exclusively for Christians? When did you decide to put God first in your portfolio? Have you been finding it difficult to be a Christian graphic designer as opposed to just following the crowd?

Reply: I don’t exclusively for Christians because to be honest, I don’t think the market is big enough to sustain to income of a freelance designer in general. I’m sure this is possible with the right connections, and especially if a Christian designer had large repeat-clients. But in my opinion, much of the “Christian work” actually goes out to non-Christian designers. Indeed, I have seen this happen online. I reckon the amount of Christians who seek a Christian designer is relatively small; this is the way things go. After all, Christian clients want great work and reasonable prices, so you cant blame them for using ‘secular freelances’ and companies in one respect. However, I really do think that Churches should use Christian designers.

I’m glad you you have decided to put God first regarding your design skills, however, at the moment you’re still in the same boat as all new graduates. Most students find it hard to get work straight out of Uni/College, so don’t get too discouraged. To get paid design jobs you’re going to have to work at it like everyone else. It’s not a Christian verses non-Christian issue. My advice is set up a blog and post regular content which will attract clients. In one sense, you’ll be at a disadvantage marketing yourself as a Christian designer, but in another sense, you’ll be in an advantageous situation as well, as Christian clients should be able to find you easier.

Email: The reason I ask, is because lately I’ve been doubting whether I made the right choice to put Jesus first in my work. I never really set out to be a graphic designer exclusively for Christians, I guess I just wanted to be able to put Him first in my work because that was what I believed He wanted me to do. I guess I wanted to please God, but it has been a struggle. Especially when I see others who don’t put God first, they are succeeding, and I’m not. Thank you for standing out of the crowd, and thank you for taking the time to read this. God bless.

I always wanted to use my skills for the LORD Jesus Christ, and initially I set out to only design for Christians. I had a previous site that was a total failure, and I never got any work. I had a re-think and prayed about the situation, and eventually (about 4 years ago) decided to split my ”online presence’ into 2 main separate sites. I now run this blog for mainly Christian work, and my other site, Andrew Kelsall Design which is aimed at general clientele, which includes Christians.

So, to conclude, is it hard being a Christian Graphic Designer? Yes and no. Yes, it’s hard in respect to people not hiring you because you’re a Christian, but then again─are these people the type of clients you want anyway? No. In another respect, setting yourself apart as a Christian designer should make you much easier to be located by Churches and other Christian organisations who want your services.

The main thing is this. If it’s God’s will that you pursue Christian design, that’s the main thing to consider. As with all things, the key is relationship with Jesus and understanding His will for you life.

Transparent Steel Church Building

Church Building Images: Transparent Steel. I saw these photos the other day and thought I’d share them with you. The building design is by architecture firm Gijs Van Vaerenbergh. As can be seen, this amazing structure is made from steel with large gaps, giving it a transparent feel. I’m unsure to whether or not it’s a sort of monument, sculpture or building concept, but I reckon it’s definitely not for actual use. I love the crucifix on top [ SEE MORE ].

The Twitter account @TweetTheBible86, plans to tweet the entire Bible over the next 86 years!

The #TweetTheBible project was launched on Nov. 11 this year (2011) with Genesis 1:1: “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” In total, there will be 31,000 verses to tweet out to the Twitter-verse.

I think this is a great idea, although in my opinion, the return of Jesus is very, very close─so I doubt @TweetTheBible86 will make it 86 years. If they did 10 verses per day, they could tweet the bible in 8.6 years? Just a thought…

This “Suicide Fish” cartoon captivated me the first time I saw it, and still does more than a year afterwards. It’s just such a powerful image, that I thought I’d share it with you. The artist named ‘Allanced’ stated:

…an old sketch I found on my vaults. I did it years ago. I made the first version on 1997 black and white. This color version became viral over the internet … I guess when you release an idea over the internet it belongs to the world.

In regards to the subject of suicide, I thought it prudent to include an extract from an article I noticed:

Question: “Why should I not commit suicide?”

Answer:Our hearts go out to those who have thoughts of ending their own lives through suicide. If that is you right now, it may speak of many emotions, such as feelings of hopelessness and despair. You may feel like you are in the deepest pit, and you doubt there is any hope of things getting better. No one seems to care or understand where you are coming from. Life just is not worth living…or is it?

If you will take a few moments to consider letting God truly be God in your life right now, He will prove how big He really is, “for nothing is impossible with God” (Luke 1:37). Perhaps scars from past hurts have resulted in an overwhelming sense of rejection or abandonment. That may lead to self-pity, anger, bitterness, vengeful thoughts, or unhealthy fears that have caused problems in some of your most important relationships [read more].
