After trying to get peoples’ attention in the past, he boldly attempted some shock-tactics—and needless to say it worked:

The Cathedral Church in Oklahoma City says they’re glad folks are taking notice as they try to challenge the mindset of a new generation of churchgoers. Bishop Tony Miller said, “I know there’s a shock factor especially to religious people & some may think we were being offensive. Our desire isn’t to offend anybody, but to do what it did – to say what it is about church that upset or offends you.” Bishop Tony Miller says he said it in a sermon and the church marketing department devised a plan to get peoples’ attention… And ultimately get them in church doors to change their minds.

Miller said, “We’ll take the risk in order to awaken people to the toughts of something different is possible. It’s not about a building, a Sunday morning. It’s about people encountering the heart of God.” Taken from KFOR News

Apparently, after the billboard design was erected and shown to the public, four separate news channels were contacting the Church about the controversial nature of the project for an interview.

Controversial “We Hate Church” Billboard Design

Now, he’s not usually someone that would ever ‘promote Christianity’, however, watch the video below and listen what he has to say after he watched a TV program the night before. He was amazed to see that there is an actual Jesus-loving Church out there, as his previous experiences have been that of a religious nature.

The video is the footage Chris Moyles was watching, with the radio excerpt playing over the top. The actual footage is from a Church in Peterborough, UK, with believers been baptised whilst the congregation worship. It’s inspiring stuff…

It is evident that there is also a Christian on the radio team as well, which is quite a surprise to say the least. Anyway, I hope this video can encourage you—seeing that the Glory of God can be marvelled at, even in the most secular of environments.

Popular BBC Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles Promotes Christianity!

The tract is littered with some very appropriate Bible verses ranging from Matthew, John, Galatians, 2 Peter and, of course, Revelation. The design also gives a glimpse into what lies beyond, showing the LORD on His Throne, Angels and Hell (all speculative renderings, but based on the Biblical-texts).

The Author of this comic, Jack T. Chick, has done a fantastic job of conveying the importance of not ignoring a call from our LORD Jesus. It serves as a warning, and like many other evangelistic-massages seem to avoid; point out that Hell is a literal place, so this teaching must be given.

Christian Comics 3: This was your life

I read an article recently about a new National Health Service (NHS) leaflet campaign aimed at teens about sex. The pamphlet reads:

An Orgasm a Day: You could talk about the positive physical and emotional effects of sex and masturbation

The small print alerts youngsters of the benefits of having “An Orgasm a Day” [as opposed to having an apple a day]. It encourages teens to have sex and claims it is good for them. Pupils are also told they have a ‘right’ to a good sex life. What evilness {†}.

Despite the Word of God telling us otherwise, it’s no wonder British teens have the highest birthrate in Europe. Shame on the NHS and shame on the British Government. If you have received one of these leaflets, I urge you, throw it in the bin and pick up a Bible. Start reading the Gospels and get right with God. Jesus is only only way to Heaven. Listen to this deplorable advice, and I think you have enough education to know where you’ll end up.

Apparently, the leaflet’s author, Steve Slack, director of the Centre for HIV and Sexual Health at NHS Sheffield, defended it by saying the advice could encourage young people to delay losing their virginity until they are sure they will enjoy the experience.

He added that as long as teenagers are fully informed about sex and making decisions free of peer pressure as part of a caring relationship, they have as much right as an adult to a good sex life. May I remind you “Steve”, that trying to explain-away immoral nature of this informational leaflet is going to do you no good on the day of Judgement.

I really recommend that you watch this video. Yeah, it’s 10 minutes long, but if you’re short on time, it really kicks off after 1 minute and 30 seconds (to skip stright to the main message of the video). The Fall of Mankind Video: A Thousand Questions

Church Edit is a powerful web solution equipping Churches of all sizes from around the UK with the tools needed to build a professional website that is both easy to use and affordable….Many Churches want a website but either do not have the expertise or the time to develop a site. With Church Edit you can build a site in the matter of a few hours. You will be able to add web pages, calendars, photos and much more straight away.

I was tasked with designing a web page template that met certain image size criteria, and supplied to the client in 5 different colour-schemes.

◥ This image shows the initial round of proofs; a 4-page PDF document that outlined the proposed design, elements, structure and colour combinations.

◥ This is how the template looks in a more compressed format. The web page templates were designed to expand vertically, so the main cross image was quite large and side elements repeated. The main area and header were to accommodate text when added.

◥ As can be seen, when the varied colour combinations were applied, there is a clear distinction between the 5 coloured designs.

Because of the nature of this project, these web design templates were just for images, with no text, as users add their own menus, text and other elements on ChurchEdit.

“What Percentage of Europeans Believe in God?” you may wonder. Well, according to the folks who produced this chart at Wikipedia, it depends on where you live.

Here in the UK, it looks like about 30%, although only about 1% or less attend church—with WAY fewer actual Born-again Christians, opposed to pew-warming religious types. Obviously some will attend mosques, etc.

I’d just like to point out though, that whilst Romania and Turkey seem to be at the forefront with 90%, they don’t beat satan and his demons with a staggering 100% belief in God. Moreover, that’s a 100% belief in the true God, our LORD Jesus Christ.

What’s the point of this short article you may ask? Well, I’d just like to say that a belief in God won’t get you into Heaven. If that was so, the satan would be there. Hell isn’t a place for murderers, and Heaven isn’t a place for good neighbours! No, you need Jesus—and He’s the ONLY way. Please don’t live a complacent life, where you think that Jesus will grant you eternity in Heaven because you were Baptised as a baby, or do good works for charity. You need relationship with your Creator to be remembered by him:

John 14:6 (King James Version) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Logos and Stationary for St Luke’s Church

I’ve always been an admirer of some of Michael Jackson’s music, and I was sad to hear of his death today, like many of us.

At the relatively young age of 50, his death should be a reminder to us all about how fickle life can be. I don’t know where he stood with the LORD; whether he was saved or not, but this is not the point of this article. The reason for this post is to plead with the unsaved.

If you have been witnessed to before, and thought that one day you’d make the decision to follow Jesus Christ as your LORD and Saviour, why not make it this day? Just like the late Michael Jackson, you never know when your time will come. There may never be a tomorrow to accept the free gift of Salvation that is available to all mankind.

Don’t put it off, I plead with you. You never know when the door will be shut—with no more opportunity for eternal life in Heaven. I’m not the type of person to give watered-down massages, so I’ll also remind you of the consequences of not submitting to God—eternal punishment in Hades—translated into Hell in modern translations of the Bible.

Michael Jackson is dead, but Jesus is alive

John 3:16 is probably the most searched for Biblical verse ever. Why? Because it encompasses as much hope and security as one could get squeezed into one verse. I have adapted this “Gospel in a Nutshell” to fit the ESV (English Standard Version) of the Bible. I like the ESV, as it offers word-for-word accurate translation of God’s Holy Word—and easier to understand than the King James Version.

For God (the greatest Giver)
so loved (the greatest motive)
the world (the greatest need),
that He gave (the greatest act)
His only Son (the greatest gift),
that whosoever (the greatest invitation)
believes (the greatest decision)
in Him (the greatest Person)
*believes in Him (the greatest opportunity)
should not perish (the greatest deliverance),
but (the greatest difference)
have (the greatest certainty)
eternal life (the greatest possession).

If you are already a Christian, this message can strengthen your faith. However, if you are still unsaved, this message could be the start of a great journey for you. Please note that believing in God is easy (even the devil believes in God!), but believing IN HIM is not just a belief that He exists. No. It is accepting Jesus as LORD and Saviour, repenting of your sins, living by His Commandments, trusting in Him and having a special relationship with Him.

John 3:16: The Gospel In A Nutshell

I’m a big fan of Twitter…Big fan. I heard of a new “Christian Twitter” lately, aptly named Gospelr. I think the site may still be in Beta testing, as there is absolutely no information on site about how the service is used—nor what it’s for.

However, if you head over to the site of the people who created it at Human3Error.com, there is an explanation as to its’ intent. It also links to the sites’ [invisible] FAQ page, which displays information about the nature of the service, such as:

★ Spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ
★ Encouraging others through community and communication
★ Keep friends, staff, ministries, family, and others updated through microblogging
★ Innovate and collaborate with others to discuss and brainstorm how we can best use web technology effectively for His Kingdom.

I’m all up for spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ, however, I can’t see myself using it. The great thing about Twitter is that you can engage with non-Christians if you want, or just set your account to private and invite just Christians. I don’t really see the need for Gospelr, although if it helps to spread the Word of the LORD, I will support it. If you think you may be interested in Gospelr and fancy giving it a try, head over there and sign-up.

BibleFox is a FireFox® Add-on (plugin) that will theme your toolbar, amongst other aspects of an open Firefox® window with Christian-based icons. To be honest, this isn’t really my bag, but I presume the more conservative generation of Christian FF users may be interested in it.

You never know, designs such as this could help lead someone to Christ. You never know what the final-nudge will be when someone is contemplating a decision to except Jesus as LORD and Saviour. May God bless the designer of this add-on.

I was spurred on recently by some comments left by a couple of self-proclaimed atheists in my article on a bus advertising campaign. I also wrote recently about a great site named GotQuestions.org, which answers peoples’ questions about the Bible. A great question answered is: Is there an argument for the existence of God?

Answer: There is perhaps no more hotly debated issue in the church today than the issue of women serving as pastors/preachers. As a result, it is very important to not see this issue as men versus women. There are women who believe women should not serve as pastors and that the Bible places restrictions on the ministry of women, and there are men who believe women can serve as preachers and that there are no restrictions on women in ministry. This is not an issue of chauvinism or discrimination. It is an issue of biblical interpretation [...]

2. What does the Bible say about homosexuality? Is it a sin?

Answer: The Bible consistently tells us that homosexual activity is a sin (Genesis 19:1-13; Leviticus 18:22; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9). Romans 1:26-27 teaches specifically that homosexuality is a result of denying and disobeying God. When people continue in sin and unbelief, God “gives them over” to even more wicked and depraved sin in order to show them the futility and hopelessness of life apart from God. 1 Corinthians 6:9 proclaims that homosexual “offenders” will not inherit the kingdom of God [...]

3. What does the Bible say about tattoos / body piercings?

Answer: The Old Testament law commanded the Israelites, “Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD” (Leviticus 19:28). So, even though believers today are not under the Old Testament law (Romans 10:4; Galatians 3:23-25; Ephesians 2:15), the fact that there was a command against tattoos should raise some questions. Answer: Before this question is answered, the term “Christian” must be defined. A “Christian” is not a person who has said a prayer, or walked down an aisle, or been raised in a Christian family. While each of these things can be a part of the Christian experience, they are not what “makes” a Christian. A Christian is a person who has, by faith, received and fully trusted in Jesus Christ as the only Savior (John 3:16; Acts 16:31; Ephesians 2:8-9) [...]

5. Masturbation – is it a sin according to the Bible?

Answer: The Bible never explicitly mentions masturbation or states whether or not masturbation is a sin. The Scripture most frequently pointed to in regards to masturbation is the story of Onan in Genesis 38:9-10. Some interpret this passage as saying that “spilling your seed” on the ground is a sin. However, that is not precisely what the passage is saying. God condemned Onan not for “spilling his seed” but because Onan refused to fulfill his duty to provide an heir for his brother. The passage is not about masturbation, but rather about fulfilling a family duty. A second passage sometimes used as evidence for masturbation’s being a sin is Matthew 5:27-30. Jesus speaks against having lustful thoughts and then says, “If your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away.” While there are parallels between this passage and masturbation, it is unlikely that masturbation was what Jesus was alluding to [...]

6. What does the Bible say about interracial marriage?

Answer: The Old Testament Law commanded the Israelites not to engage in interracial marriage (Deuteronomy 7:3-4). However, the reason for this was not primarily racial in nature. Rather, it was religious. The reason God commanded against interracial marriage was that people of other races were idolaters and worshippers of false gods. The Israelites would be led astray from God if they intermarried with idol worshippers, pagans, or heathens. A similar principle is laid out in the New Testament, but at a much different level: “Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?” (2 Corinthians 6:14). Just as the Israelites (believers in the one true God) were commanded not to marry idolaters, so Christians (believers in the one true God) are commanded not to marry unbelievers. To answer this question specifically, no, the Bible does not say that interracial marriage is wrong [..]

7. Who was Cain’s wife?

Answer: The Bible does not specifically say who Cain’s wife was. The only possible answer was that Cain’s wife was his sister or niece or great-niece, etc. The Bible does not say how old Cain was when he killed Abel (Genesis 4:8). Since they were both farmers, they were likely both full-grown adults, possibly with families of their own. Adam and Eve surely had given birth to more children than just Cain and Abel at the time Abel was killed. They definitely had many more children later (Genesis 5:4). The fact that Cain was scared for his own life after he killed Abel (Genesis 4:14) indicates that there were likely many other children and perhaps even grandchildren of Adam and Eve already living at that time. Cain’s wife (Genesis 4:17) was a daughter or granddaughter of Adam and Eve [...]

8. What is the Christian view of suicide? What does the Bible say about suicide? What about a believer who commits suicide?

Answer: The Bible mentions six specific people who committed suicide: Abimelech (Judges 9:54), Saul (1 Samuel 31:4), Saul’s armor-bearer (1 Samuel 31:4-6), Ahithophel (2 Samuel 17:23), Zimri (1 Kings 16:18), and Judas (Matthew 27:5). Five of them were wicked, sinful men (not enough is said regarding Saul’s armor-bearer to make a judgment as to his character). Some consider Samson an instance of suicide (Judges 16:26-31), but Samson’s goal was to kill the Philistines, not himself. The Bible views suicide as equal to murder, which is what it is—self-murder. God is the only one who is to decide when and how a person should die [...]

9. Do pets / animals go to Heaven? Do pets / animals have souls?

Answer: The Bible does not give any explicit teaching on whether pets/animals have “souls” or whether pets/animals will be in heaven. However, we can use general biblical principles to develop some clarity on the subject. The Bible states that both man (Genesis 2:7) and animals (Genesis 1:30; 6:17; 7:15, 22) have the breath of life. The primary difference between human beings and animals is that humanity is made in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:26-27), while animals are not. Being made in the image and likeness of God means that human beings are like God, capable of spirituality, with mind, emotion, and will, and they have a part of their being that continues after death. If pets/animals do have a “soul” or immaterial aspect, it must therefore be of a different and lesser “quality.” This difference possibly means that pet/animal “souls” do not continue in existence after death [...]

10. What happens after death?

Answer: Within the Christian faith, there is a significant amount of confusion regarding what happens after death. Some hold that after death, everyone “sleeps” until the final judgment, after which everyone will be sent to heaven or hell. Others believe that at the moment of death, people are instantly judged and sent to their eternal destinations. Still others claim that when people die, their souls/spirits are sent to a “temporary” heaven or hell, to await the final resurrection, the final judgment, and then the finality of their eternal destination. When did Google start to indoctrinate its users to evolutionism? The behemoth of search engines often changes its Google logotype to celebrate events and special days, but never before I have seen it used to actually promote evil. Yes, I said it, and I’ll say it again—pure and utter EVIL.

When a typical user clicked on the actual logo link, there was a slurry of pages promoting the find of the “missing link”. You know, the thing that the great religion of fundamental evolutionary theory requires to totally denounce God, the Creator of all things. Are the ungodly so blind that they cannot see that evolution is a corrupt belief that is imparted from unspiritual atheist “scientists”? The word of the LORD states:

Genesis 1 | KJV | 1: In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth

That’s all I need to know—and this is the truth and what we all should believe. Top 10 Bible Verses Reader’s Search For Online

Lately, I have been deceived by numerous online revelations that are supposedly God’s Word. If like myself, you love to learn about how people have had experiences with God, and shared their testimony online, I have a piece of advice for you today: check everything you read against the Word of God!

This isn’t an article where I’m going to try and name and shame every author of ebooks I have looked at or blog post I have read. But lately, I have been reading supposedly-Christian literature where every-so-often, I’ve thought “Hmm, wait a minute…this doesn’t line-up with the Bible”. I’ve come to learn that there are many e-books and articles out there that present a 99% TRUTH, SOLELY TO INTRODUCE A 1% LIE.

I remember what the Word of the LORD says:

Matthew 7:15 | Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

I have spent hours this week researching into the various false prophets and the teachers that exist in this day-and-age. I was astounded to read of how many there are! I’m not going to mention them in name, as I’m not in a position to debate about them, as I have only a little knowledge of what I have read. This would be foolish of me. However, I urge you that if you have doubts about anything you have read that supposed to “be Christian”—do your research!

Google the Author, Pastor or Blogger’s name and find out what they say against what the bible says. I assure you, you’ll find some damning results. I think that many of us are always hungry to hear some new details about God, new details of Heaven and hell, new details of doctrine. Don’t be fooled like me—I’ve been guilty of this. Seek the Word of God instead:

2 Peter 1:20 | Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

The crux of what I am trying to explain is this: There are MANY false prophets out there. If something sounds like it doesn’t agree with scripture—check it out. There are no new revelations in the New Covenant and no private interpretations. Seek the Word of God, not men.

Happy Hour: Powerful Christian Comic Strip

Last week, I stumbled across an article form Inspiks.com entitled 17 Amazing Christian Movie Posters. This list of movie posters includes The 10 Commandments (1956), Ben Hur (1959), The Gospel of John (2003), The Passion of the Christ (2004) and Amazing Grace (2007).

The article shows an image of each poster design, along with a brief description of each one. The post introduction reads:

Movies are fun, they take us from our everyday world into stories beyond our imaginations and for a few hours we are placed into a world of mystery and wonder. The one thing besides the trailers that gets our attention when we go to the cinema are movie posters, with their bright colors and slick design, they are sometimes more visually exciting than the actual movie. Below we showcase some of the best Christian Movie Posters that captured our attention.

Do you like Christian Movie Posters?

The concept behind the illustration was based on this passage of the Bible:

Hebrews 13:2 Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.

It was a fairly complex piece of design to produce, as it incorporated many elements including some 3D work and even feathers. I have shown two images below to show some of the detail:

FortySevenMedia Christian Logo Design: A King is Coming to Town

Recently, ChristianColleges.com included an article on the Top 10 Hollywood Christians. I’m not really a celebrity-loving person, but when these people are Christians too, I believe they’re worth noting—as to many people, they are looked-upon as role-models.

The top 10 list is comprised of: Denzel Washington, Martin Sheen, Patricia Heaton, Adriana Lima, Angela Bassett, Nicole Kidman, Evangeline Lilly, Christy Turlington, Kristin Chenoweth and Miley Cyrus.

Top 10 Hollywood Christians

I was outraged earlier this week when I learned of an atheist bus campaign advert fronted by the British Humanism Association that were used on buses back in January. The adverts were plastered on buses from London to Southampton (UK). As can be seen in the image above, the bus adverts read:

THERE’S PROBABLY NO GOD.

NOW STOP WORRYING AND ENJOY YOUR LIFE.

The most annoying thing about this deplorable campaign is that it cost the British Humanism Association £140,000—moreover, it was donated in pledges to make the whole campaign a reality!

It’s so sad to hear that not only will some people refuse to believe in God—although it’s their right to have their own opinions—but they will donate their own money to try and spread their corrosive message.

There is some good news about this story, though. Ron Heather, 62 (pictured below), a Christian Bus Driver, refused to drive his vehicle in protest against the campaign. Ron stated:

I was just about to board and there it was staring me in the face. My first reaction was horror. I’d heard about this silly campaign in London but I had no idea it was coming to Southampton.

It’s wonderful to see a Christian make a stand against such dribble. He’s a true inspiration—and hope that I too would have the courage to do the same in similar situations in my life.

Apparently, the British Humanism Association didn’t even want to include the word “PROBABLY” in their campaign, but only did so to satisfy advertising regulations. You can read more about this story in the online Metro Newspaper.

10 Inspiring Church Website Designs

The flyer/pamflet was credit-card sized, with full colour one side and B+W on the reverse. I don’t have an image of the reverse here, but it contained details such as date, time, etc. I remember this design, as it was my first ever piece of printed design work. I think, in all, 5000 were printed and handed out to students at University.

The only brief I was given to come up with a concept was the RipCord logo and “bomb” graphic. I decided to create a concept that utilised a giant ‘rip’ through the design—using the obvious wordplay. Myself and everyone involved in the Christian Union—as well as the band themselves were happy with the design—and it was an honour to do this for the LORD more than anything else.

Flyer Design for Christian Band “RipCord”

“You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh on account of the dead or tattoo any marks upon you: I am the LORD.”

There’s an interesting article on the meaning of this verse, it’s context and validity in the New Covenant over at Religious Tattoos. I have deleted the images this post contains, as I now feel I was in error. Whilst I’m not stating that having a tattoo is wrong, I don’t want to glorify it either. If you are a Christian who is thinking about having one, please pray to the LORD Jesus about it first.

10 Christian Angel Tattoo Designs

Happy St. George’s Day from here in England! Not that we Brits get a bank holiday today, but I’ve just got enough time to write a brief account of the story behind St. George and the slaying of the dragon.

Every year on April the 23rd, St. George’s day is celebrated as England’s National Day. As the patron saint of England, St. George’s emblem is a red cross on a white background (the English flag).

St. George was a Roman soldier who protested against Christians being tortured by the Romans—and died for his beliefs. He is now best-known for slaying a dragon. Many say this is just folklore, but I am a Christian who obviously believes in creationism. So, I deduce that he slayed a dinosaur (as God made man and beast over a seven-day period).

As can be seen, “they don’t make Bibles like they used to”…although the modern ones are a tad more legible I love the colour and the style of the imagery and illustration; I doubt that anyone who doesn’t even believe in The LORD would dislike a Bible such as this.
