I suppose if you were to participate in Aye Aye Next Top Model, Tyra Banks would probably tell you you are pretty ugly. And I wouldn't disagree.

I am sure you would be awesome in those super edgy high fashion shoots. You know the ones where you pose like a total lunatic, bend over backwards, hunch that back and prick those ears. Or maybe you could just be a hand model? I like to have short Sunday watching sessions with Mila. We sit in the bed and watch 5 or 6 videos of animals doing stupid things. Our favourite today is this one:

Followed closely by this one:

Oh my, if it isn't the Silky Hen...

I know it has been a long time since I last updated this blog, and I was *this* close to stop updating altogether and then I thought "you know what, if there is an animal who looks like this on this planet, then you must carry on posting on PKB". This animal, ladies and gentlemen is the Silky Hen. I almost wish I could write its name in glitter animated gif because it is so ridiculous(ly) perfect(ly) (retarded). Oh wait... Wait... I CAN, because such is the power of the internet.

What you really need for a full grasp of what exactly being a silky hen entails is a body shot of our new friend. Your first reaction will probably be something like "why is she showing us a picture of a silly pompom with a stick?". The second time you look at it, after you put your glasses on, you will notice said pompom has feet, and a beak. "A BEAK?!?". Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this is a hen. A completely over the top hen. A bloody effing silky feathered CHICKEN. Who knew?

I think I have a winter hat that looks strangely like hers actually. JUST CHECK OUT THAT HAIR. How does she see? Does she bump into walls all the time? Because if she does then she just won the award for the most retarded animal ever, stealing it from the Tibetan Fox (who has been holding on to this award for 5 consecutive years, so that is saying something).

But you know, there I was looking at a photo of the Silky Hen and shouting at her to go back to Narnia, evil Snow Queen in between two laughing fits and there they were, Sister Sledge, posing for the photo as if their lives depended on it. I bet the conversation went something like this: "Bawkbawk BAGAWK? BAWKbawkbawk!!! Bagawk? BAWKBAWK. Bawk!" which roughly translates as "So I look left and you look right? NO YOU LOOK RIGHT, I LOOK LEFT!!! And Whitey? IN THE MIDDLE YOU IDIOT. To be perfectly honest, I am a bit jealous I didn't come up with the idea of a top 50 animals in the bath myself. But I am glad someone did.

Here are my three favourites:

It took me a little while to figure out this was a guinea pig as its nose dangerously resembles evil eyes.

Hedgehogs are filthy little critters, so if you have one at home, make sure you bath him regularly.

I didn't even know you could keep those as pets. I wouldn't really want that in my 2 bedroom flat though.

I love cats, and if I found strays I would be totally tempted to take them home with me, but no way I would keep so many cats in the same house. At one point in my life, I lived with four cats, as me and my two cats moved in with a boy who already had two cats. It was a nightmare, they kept chasing each other around the flat, we had to change the litters all the time etc.

Which reminds me, the other day, I was having a conversation with Mr Moose about animals. He was asking me, as we were walking down the street which animals I would take home if I found them in the street. It went a bit like this:

Mr Moose: If you found a puppy in the street would you bring him home?
Me: OF COURSE!!!
Mr Moose: If you found a hedgehog in the street, would you bring him home?
Me: Yes, as a matter of fact I have done it before!
Mr Moose: If you found a baby lion in the street would you bring him home?
Me: Yes.
Mr Moose: If you found a snake in the street would you bring him home?
Me: Yes. But I wouldn't cuddle him.
Mr. Moose: Is there any animal you wouldn't bring home?
Me: Nope, just bugs.
Mr Moose: Even if you found a tarentula you would bring it home?
Me: Yes, and I would leave it on your pillow as a hairy present.

If you like this type of conversations about zombies, you should have a look at my favourite overtheponders blog.

YAWN!

This is actually not far from what I feel like today.

A rap about a cat

Yes, you read the title just fine. After watching it, I went on the internet to find images of a Pika, and instead I found this shot of the Tibetan Fox, which I then named "Retarded Wolf". Rather apt name, if you ignore the mistake on the species. This photo haunted me for weeks, particularly as it was my desktop photo and I used to forget about it and then shut a window and piss myself (yes, I know it happens fairly often, but I blame the animals).

Anyway, after a bit of research, I discovered that the "Retarded Wolf" was really a fox and more precisely a Tibetan Fox. The video below is from Planet Earth and show's the square headed retard in action. Sorry, I meant fox.

Frostie the dancing Cockatoo

It's wednesday night. As it often happens, I am on YouTube watching animal videos. Except that now, thanks to my new baby Puppy Kitty Bunny, I feel like I am doing it with a purpose...

So it is in the name of research that I clicked the link tweeted by Naomi Rose and found Frostie the dancing Cockatoo dancing his feathered butt off on my computer screen. The results: I almost wet the bed, woke Mr Moose up as I was laughing so hard & proceeded to watch the video a second time & a third & a fourth, till my zygomatic muscles begged for mercy.

Frostie has his own channel on YouTube, so please be my guest and browse through all his amazing videos.

Mia Angle Bootie Wimmer & Ophelia Jaguar Devouring a Hare Putti Wimmer

Mia & Ophelia are Eric and Maria's pet felines. And I should have probably called this blog Puppy Kitty Bunny Eric Maria", because so far, they have been very involved in this project, and I have to say it has been fun!

I’ve been sitting at our dining room table for little over 20 minutes now. My arranged interview was at 9:00 am, it’s now 9:21 am. Cats have a stigma for doing things on their own time, but this is ridiculous. I was told by their “agent” (aka. Bumblebee, our basset hound) that they tend to spend a little too much time on their look. This better be good., after all, I’ve got better things to do with my morning than interview a couple of divas. Wait…hold on…

(The bedroom door slightly opens and I am greeted by Mia Angle Bootie Wimmer. She’s a beautiful 9 year old Siamese. She looks good for her age.)

E.K.: Hello Mia, how are you?

Mia: I’m good. I’m just a little cranky.

E.K.: Cranky, why?

Mia: Well, you know my on-again-off-again relationship with the scale right? It’s just….I’ve put on a couple of unwanted pounds. Nothing fits right now, which makes it hard to look good.

E.K.: So you’re wearing no clothes because you couldn’t find any clothes that fit or because you’re a cat?

Mia: I guess both. Look, let’s change the topic. I mean, I’ve been feeling a little bloated, but at least I’m no Ophelia!

(We both laugh, and then we’re suddenly greeted by a alarmingly high pitched meow coming from the larger of the two cats, Ophelia Jaguar Devouring a Hare Putti Wimmer. She’s a 9 year old Maine Coon with a superiority complex and a flair for the dramatic.)

Ophelia: Did I hear my name?

Mia: No, no. I was just mentioning to E.K. that I love what he’s done with the living room. I love how he’s re-arranged the artwork, it really changes the vibe of the apartment.

Ophelia: What-ev’s, you should be talking about me. Speaking of me, what do you think of my outfit?

(Ophelia isn’t wearing any clothes, just a collar)

E.K.: You don’t have an outfit on. Both of you don’t. What took so long?

Mia: Well, if you must know we weren’t actually putting on clothes.

E.K.: Really? I would have never guessed.

Mia: No, we were getting into mischief.

E.K.: What? Why would you tell me that? You know you’re going to get in trouble. What did you do?

Ophelia: Please…save the drama (she raises one paw up). You won’t do anything, we’re cats. Anyway it was hilarious. I pulled out a really important photo and started chewing on the corners. You won’t miss that wedding photo will you? Mia (Ophelia laughs) girl, what were you up to? It sounded like you were having a good time.

Mia: Ha! Yeah, I was peeing outside of the litter box! I know it’s been 9 years, but it’s just so funny to make E.K. clean up my urine!

E.K.: What? So while I was waiting to do an interview with my cats you where chewing photos and peeing on the floor?

Ophelia: Duh? What did you expect?

(I get up to make a cup of coffee and we decide to move the conversation into the study. Mia jumps up onto the windowsill to soak up some sun. Ophelia comes in a little bit later and lays against a pile of magazines stacked on the floor.)

E.K.: Ophelia you’ve always been very lazy. Does it bother you that Maria and I call you Loaf?

Ophelia: Does it bother you that Mia and I call you…

(She’s quickly interrupted by Mia.)

Mia: She’s just messing around, we don’t have a nickname for you.

(I see a quick wink shot to Ophelia)

E.K.: Mia did you just wink at Ophelia? What’s my nickname?

Mia: Mellow out man. I just got a little sunshine in my eye.

Ophelia: Are we done yet? I’m bored. Do we get paid for this interview?

E.K.: What? You’re cats. What could you possibly want to buy?

Mia: Well, I don’t know about Oph, but I’m currently bidding on E-bay for this amazing bag of Jamaican Catnip! I just need a pick-me-up.

Ophelia: Oh snap! You getting that Catnip? We’re going to party when that comes in the mail! Just try and keep it together. Last time you were like a crazy woman.

Mia: I can’t promise anything!

(Both cats laugh)

E.K.: Wait…what are you cats up to when I’m sleeping at night?

Ophelia: Dude, you don’t even want to know.

(The cats give each other a high five with their paws and exit the room. I guess they ended the interview.)

Bizkit, the sleep walking dog

Because I can never sleep, I often find myself wandering around my flat at night, and taking a sneaky peek at my sleeping cats. It is part of UCL and tucked away in a side street off Torrington place, WC1. Siouxsie, how do you look after Suzi?

SS: I hop onto my hammock and the side of the cage whilst you’re having dinner and chew at the bars and beg until you give me some food. Or I run onto your lap and steal all your grapes and then take them back in the cage for Suzi.

K: This disturbs me, only I should be allowed on your lap.

S: What are your favourite things to do?

K: I like sleeping, being beautiful, running around like a crazy thing, sitting on your lap so you can’t reach the computer and playing with my toys. I also love eating and keeping an eye on the rats.

SS: We like interior decorating and redesigning our cage.

SQ: We currently have this great shabby chic thing going on with our sleep hammock. We tore it to shreds all by ourselves!

S: Yes, and that’s the second one you have destroyed. What do you three do all day when I’m at work?

SS: We watch a few movies, hang out on the balcony drinking pina coladas, try on all your clothes and give each other makeovers. It’s like a girly slumber party every day!

K: In between writing my romance novel, I also cook lunch for everyone. My Beef Bourgnine is a real hit.

S: I’m glad you’re having such a fun time. Before we go – Kleio, why do you like to bite me?

K: Why do you call me stupid names like Yo-Yo and Silly Sausage? I’m a princess, a daughter of Zeus no less! Show some respect.

S: Well on that note, thanks for answering my questions and telling everyone about your lives. Bye!

Sylvester the Tiger cub

Sylvester is an eight week old Sumatran tiger cub born at the Tisch Family Zoological Gardens. His mother abandoned him, so vets are looking after him. "Sumatran tigers are considered critically endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature, with only about 400 of the big cats thought to be living in the wild." says National Geographic.

I wish I could get a giant house and adopt all 400 remaining tigers. It would be a bit like the tiger who came to tea, but we could have a party (a par-tea?).

But enough of this. What I wanted was to draw your attention to his demented face. His demented face munching on a human hand as if it were a chicken nugget.

Mmmm chicken nuggets.

xxx

Photo from National Geographic

Bumblebee Thundra Photon Wimmer

The first pet interview for Puppy Kitty Bunny is between Maria Rose from Little Things are Big and her beloved pup Bumblebee. If you haven't already, you should wander over to her blog, as it is filled with animal love!

Maria: For the record please state your name

Bumblebee: Bumblebee Thundra Photon Wimmer

Maria: Do you like that you have such a very long name?

Bumblebee: Yes, I feel quite pleased with my name. I think it has a touch of whimsy.

Maria: Great, that is exactly what we were going for when we chose it.

Bumblebee: Job well done.

Maria: Why on Earth do you straddle the arm of the couch like that?

Bumblebee: I like the higher vantage point and the straddle position you mentioned helps me keep my balance.

Maria: I see. So, why do you rub your face into the carpet with your rear in the air and howl after you get a drink of water?

Bumblebee: Hmmm well I'd have to say that I find a cool drink of water quite invigorating.

Maria: Fair enough. So, who is your favorite human and why?

Bumblebee: Probably your mother.

Maria: Bumblebee, that just hurts my feelings.

Bumblebee: You shouldn't ask if you don't want the truth. Your Mom will pet me on demand for hours at a time. Really, it's like a little bit of heaven.

Maria: Oh please, you take advantage of her kindness.

Bumblebee: I'm a dog.

Maria: Why is it that you have started marking your territory like a boy dog? You go so far as to lift your leg.

Bumblebee: I was spayed when I was very young. I am a bit confused. Let's just leave it at that.

Maria: OK. So, tell me some of your hobbies?

Bumblebee: Well let's see. First there is sniffing stuff, begging for food, whining at the cats, eating things off the ground, staring at you and my Dad...

Maria: Yeah, what's with all of the staring?

Bumblebee: I just like to freak you guys out.

Maria: Hmmm, well mission accomplished.

Bumblebee: Good to know.

Maria: Well, I feel like this interview should end soon.

Bumblebee: Yeah, it's getting kind of weird.

Maria: OK then, this concludes our interview.

Do you have a pet? Do you want to interview him or her? Then get in touch - mellerobot@gmail.com . The best interviews will be published on Puppy Kitty Bunny.

The fish with a transparent head

On the topic of Fashion Week just over, I found it interesting to show you the fish with a transparent head. What a strange coincidence that photos of the Pacific barreleye fish emerge just now, after a lot of people spent days feeling as if their head was indeed transparent while talking to other people. Enough with the crappy analogies though, we are talking about a FISH with a TRANSPARENT HEAD. Pretty f***ing amazing!

According to National Geographic, "the fish, discovered alive in the deep water off California's central coast by the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI), is the first specimen of its kind to be found with its soft transparent dome intact."

I am torn between being totally mesmerized by the inside of its head and thinking it looks like a pair of perky green boobs. Either way, having perky boobs in your head is pretty useful. At least I am sure it must be in fish land. Seriously, how many fishes with boobs have you seen? Even better, this one has them in its head.

I like to think about space & the stars, but sometimes I wonder if I wouldn't be even more into exporing the ocean depths and hang out with strange specimen's like this one. For the record, he lives more than 600 m under sea level. That sounds pretty deep already, right? It actually isn't that bad if you think that the Mariana trench (deepest known ocean trench) is 11 000 m deep. So far, only soles and shrimps have been seen down there, but just imagine how freaky the rest of the wildlife could be at the bottom!

Photos from National Geographic

Welcome to Puppy Kitty Bunny!

Hi,

I am Mademoiselle Robot. Most of you know me from my other blog, where I write mostly about vintage fashion & lifestyle. As you may know, London Fashion Week just finished and it definitely took its toll on me... It also made me realize that if I write about fashion, I should probably also be writing about my one true love: animals!
YES! All the animals. Except maybe bugs, but they are bugs so technically not animals.

I find that not enough people enjoy talking about animals now that we are all grown ups, and it is totally idiotic. After all, the animal kingdom is as good a topic of conversation as music or cinema or fashion, so why is it deemed as childish by most adults? I could speak about otters and Tibetan foxes for hours on end, without ever getting bored. Ever. However, I get bored after talking about clothes for an hour. Don't get me wrong, I love clothes, hell, I even have a whole blog full of fashion ramblings! They still can't beat animals.

On this blog, you will mostly find facts about animals, photos and animal stories. Sometimes, I might even venture into animal fashion. Yep.

Raise your hand if you are with me!

xxx
