March 2011

WEEKLY HIGHLIGHTS
- courtesy of PB Mutual

Led by declines in regional equity markets, the FBM KLCI registered
a loss of 1.8% over the week to close at 1,495.6 points.

Most regional equity markets retreated on concerns that the recent
earthquake in Japan may have an adverse impact on regional trade
activities.

Looking ahead, the local market is anticipated to move in tandem
with overseas markets. Investors will continue to monitor the outlook
for economic activities, oil prices, inflation and regional interest

WEEKLY HIGHLIGHTS

Led by firmer offshore markets, the FBM KLCI rose to a one-week intraday high of 1,521.2 points on Friday before closing at 1,517.6 points to register a gain of 1.5% for the week.

Regional markets strengthened on the back of better-than-expected economic activities in the U.S. and expectations that inflationary pressures in China may peak in the coming months.

Looking ahead, the local market is anticipated to move in tandem with overseas markets as investors continue to monitor the outlook for global economic activities.

Public Islamic Enhanced Bond Fund news

Public Islamic Enhanced Bond Fund seeks to provide a combination of annual income
The FBM KLCI moved to a 4-week intraday high of 1,523.0 points on Friday before pulling back to close at 1,507.3 points for the week with an increase of 0.4%.

Regional markets were generally well-supported on the back of a firmer close on Wall Street. However, the China and Hong Kong markets eased on expectations of more credit tightening measures in China following the mainlands higher-than-expected inflation rate of 5.1% for November.
The FBM KLCI moved in a trading range amidst weaker regional markets before rising later in the week to close at a 25-month high of 1,346.4 points to register a gain of 0.7% for the week.
