Speaking during a televised debate, Nayak said the youngster should be focused on his education rather than playing in a high-pressure professional league. He also claimed that allowing a minor to feature in such a tournament sets the wrong example and amounts to a violation of child rights.

The remarks have triggered debate around Suryavanshi’s presence in the IPL at such a young age, especially as the teenager continues to impress with his performances this season.

However, the matter appears to be more of a public controversy than a legal one for now, as there has been no indication of any formal action against the player’s participation.

According to the company’s notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, the Board of Directors approved the proposed acquisition on May 6, 2026, including Pakheim’s associated assets, licenses, and operations, subject to regulatory approvals and completion of due diligence.

The company said Pakheim International Pharmaceuticals operates an established pharmaceutical manufacturing facility and holds multiple DRAP-registered products.

The acquisition is aimed at strengthening Citi Pharma’s manufacturing capacity, product portfolio, and market footprint.

Citi Pharma stated that Pakheim currently generates annual revenue of around Rs. 500 million, while the acquisition is expected to improve operational synergies, optimize production efficiencies, and support expansion in local and international markets.

The company has outlined a long term growth strategy targeting revenue of Rs. 5 billion over the next five years through portfolio expansion, stronger distribution networks, and continued investment in manufacturing and product development.

According to the disclosure, the transaction will be financed through a combination of internal cash resources and available banking facilities, while the payment plan extends until December 31, 2026.

Citi Pharma also said the acquisition is expected to strengthen its active pharmaceutical ingredients business, as the acquired operations will source APIs directly from Citi Pharma, improving capacity utilization and supporting higher API sales.

The issue came to light during a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee, where health officials said patient follow-up, counseling and long-term retention remain major challenges in the country’s HIV response.

According to the health ministry, an estimated 369,000 people are living with HIV in Pakistan, but only 84,000 cases are currently registered, pointing to a wide gap in detection and reporting. Officials also told the committee that 14,000 new HIV cases were reported in 2025 alone.

The committee described the matter as urgent and sensitive, stressing the need for a coordinated national response instead of isolated measures.

While screening has expanded significantly in recent years, rising from 37,000 tests in 2020 to more than 374,000 in 2025, lawmakers warned that higher detection should not be mistaken for actual control of the disease. They said the real measure of success is a fall in new infections, not just an increase in testing.

Committee members also pointed to repeated local outbreaks in areas such as Taunsa, Kot Momin and parts of South Punjab as evidence of weak infection prevention, unsafe medical practices and poor enforcement.

During the briefing, officials said the Walika outbreak in Karachi had been linked to the use of 10cc syringes, which had not previously been banned. The ministry said all reusable syringes, including 10cc variants, would now be phased out and placed under tighter regulatory control.

Lawmakers, however, questioned why banned syringes are still available in markets despite restrictions introduced years ago.

They also highlighted weak oversight of blood banks, the absence of sustained public awareness campaigns, continued social stigma around HIV testing and treatment, and the growing number of patients who disappear after diagnosis.

The committee also discussed cross-border health risks, noting that people deported from other countries often return without proper health screening. In response, the ministry said a new mechanism was being developed to link exit and entry data so such individuals can be screened and monitored before re-entry.

Officials said the government is preparing a comprehensive master plan to address gaps in HIV control.

The committee, however, pressed for immediate steps, including the rollout of auto-disable syringes, stricter action against unsafe medical practices, nationwide awareness campaigns and a clear time-bound strategy to contain the spread of the disease.

The project aims to upgrade Pak-Arab Refinery Limited (PARCO), Attock Refinery Limited (ARL), National Refinery Limited (NRL), Cnergyico Pakistan Limited, and Pakistan Refinery Limited (PRL).

The upgrades will enable production of cleaner Euro-V standard fuels, including petrol, diesel, furnace oil, and other refined petroleum products and also protect the environment.

Pakistan currently operates refining capacity of roughly 450,000–500,000 barrels per day, equivalent to about 21–23 million tons annually. After the upgrade, output could increase to nearly 33 million tons per year by 2035.

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb is scheduled to chair a high-level meeting with regulators, tax authorities, and refinery executives to address financial and regulatory hurdles tied to the refinery upgrade plan.

Pakistan’s annual fuel import bill reached about $16 billion last year, making the economy more vulnerable to external shocks, particularly during geopolitical crises affecting oil-producing regions.

Industry representatives have urged the government to restore tax incentives, including relief on imported equipment.

Most papers will be held from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM, while the Mathematics assessment on May 11 will take place from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Each paper will have a duration of three and a half hours.

PECTAA said the assessment will be sample-based and conducted in selected schools across the province to evaluate learning outcomes of Grade 4 students.

Samsung Display presented an updated 6.8-inch Sensor OLED Display that combines health monitoring and privacy features in a single panel.

The display includes embedded organic photodiodes positioned alongside standard OLED pixels. These sensors can measure heart rate and blood pressure by detecting light reflected from a user’s finger.

The panel also features Flex Magic Pixel technology, which powers Samsung’s Privacy Display functionality.

Samsung increased the display’s pixel density to 500ppi, compared to the 374ppi panel demonstrated last year.

Flex Chroma Pixel Technology

The company also showcased its new Flex Chroma Pixel display, which focuses on improving brightness and color accuracy.

The panel can achieve up to 3,000 nits of brightness in High Brightness Mode using Samsung Display’s LEAD technology. LEAD is Samsung’s proprietary OLED technology that removes the need for a polarizer, helping lower power consumption.

The display supports 96% of the BT.2020 color gamut and uses Phosphorescent Sensitized Fluorescence emissive material to improve color purity and accuracy.

Samsung said the technology delivers both strong brightness and accurate color reproduction at the same time.

Updated EL-QD Displays

Samsung Display also demonstrated new EL-QD panels with higher brightness levels. The company showed an 18-inch display capable of reaching 500 nits, up from 400 nits on the previous version.

A 6.5-inch EL-QD panel was also presented with 400 nits of brightness, representing a 33% improvement compared to last year’s similar display.

Stretchable Display 2.0

Another product shown at the event was Stretchable Display 2.0, designed for automotive instrument clusters. The display can physically expand and alter the appearance of the speedometer depending on driving conditions.

Samsung increased the pixel density to 200ppi from 120ppi on the earlier version. According to the company, 200ppi is considered the standard benchmark for automotive displays.

The missile is named Yildirimhan and was presented on Tuesday during the Saha defence exhibition in Istanbul in the presence of Turkey’s Defence Minister Yasar Guler and senior military personnel.

The missile has an operational range of approximately 6,000 kilometres, allowing it to reach targets across most of Europe, large parts of Asia (including India), and significant areas of Africa if launched from Turkish territory.

The missile uses liquid nitrogen tetroxide fuel and is powered by a four-engine propulsion system.

Defence Minister Yasar Guler emphasized that Turkey’s precision-guided weapons aim to deliver advanced military capability at comparatively lower cost.
