The Perfect Summer Breakfast: Ice Cream

Here's what I'm writing about over at Plan to Eat. Ice cream for breakfast! Our latest favorite (which I didn't actually mention in the post) is blueberry with lemon balm (which grows like crazy all along our driveway!). What flavor combo would you make?

This whipped coconut cream looks amazing! How did I not know you could do this?! This and the flower blossom jelly (below) have just moved to the top of my To Try list. There's got to be somewhere in my house I could tile with pennies... The effect is so cool! And it's got to be cheaper than regular tile. I know, this picture does not look like a good start to dreamy oatmeal, but just trust me. My sweet little Sam is a string bean, just like me and just like his dad. But sometimes, because I'm a mom and moms worry, I worry that because of his surgeries and all that jazz, that he might not be assimilating all the nutrients and getting the most out of his food and maybe his string bean legs are due to more than genes.* So, when his favorite foods are filling, but not particularly nutrient-dense, like oatmeal, it makes me nervous....

Fermenting Foods: The Complete Idiot's Guide

When people ask me about how to ferment things (which they do, I have no idea why, I'm a total novice!), this is the book I recommend! Wardeh, of GNOWFGLINS, was asked by the Complete Idiot's Guide people to author a book on fermenting and I think she did a brilliant job! I love the no-nonsense approach and how she makes it seem so easy to just jump in and get fermenting. I've used a ton of Wardeh's recipes from her online classes and they always turn out great. I'm so excited to have a whole book full of them!...

I decided to take off for the weekend with the kids! We're at their grandma and grandpa's house and having a lovely time. But here are a few fun things for you that caught my eye this week. Do you think there's a way to combine these crystal egg geodes and these dinosaur eggs (that I'm kind of obsessed with) into a grow-your-own-geode kind of thing? Here's a different deodorant recipe I might try when the current stuff runs out. My kids would definitely be into this liquid sidewalk paint and the recipe is so simple I can actually see...

Soooo, we're thinking about adding to the family... Almost like having a third baby, but not quite. We're thinking about finally getting a dog! It's been a long time coming, I'm more of a dog-lover than Clay and our yard isn't really all that big (okay, it's tiny).
