Well, summer is over and I’m still not caught up on things. Persephone has decided that she doesn’t like napping. At only 11 months of age, she is trying to cut them out of her life. If she sleeps in the car at all, she does not nap again for the rest of the day. Some days, she does not nap at all, period. If she naps much, she wakes up for hours in the middle of the night. I wouldn’t mind if she didn’t seem so exhausted (read grouchy) every evening. Anyway, the point of this is that right now I have only 2/24 hours each day when she is asleep and I am not. So I have decided that I am going to retire Professional SAHM. I will spend some time blogging on a local site that I have and I will visit my blogging buddies, but I just do not have the time or energy to do anything more for the time being. Thanks to everyone who has supported me with this endeavor, it has meant a lot to me.

Hello all! I’m still on sabbatical, but wanted to announce that Elaine won my rug giveaway.

As far as the crisis the necessitated my sabbatical, I didn’t mean to worry people. My son just had a major meltdown, exhausting himself in an uncharacteristic manner. It all came down to him needing me to be more available during the summer. That was it. I am finding that I needed it just as much as he did though. I have been catching up on sleep some and finding that my brain is working much better as a result. Plus I need to get ready for the school year to start, finishing all our homeschool lesson plans. Then there are the household projects… the wall hangings that I framed and stuck in the closet, the half-finished rabbit hutch, the rotting play system that is half dismantled and still needs to be chopped up and hauled away, the bedroom that my daughter wants me to paint… you get the idea. So six more weeks and I’ll be back, chomping at the bit to start blogging again.

I need to take a sabbatical from blogging for the summer. I know it is very sudden, but we had a small crisis here today that made it apparent that Ares needs more of my time during summer vacation. After all, I am a mom first, blogger second. So I am going to take a break for the rest of July and August. I will still visit my many blogging buddies blogs, I just won’t post.

BTW, I still will post the winner of the rug giveaway. Also, Toni never claimed her Barefoot Books giveaway prize, so I ran another drawing and Kathleen won!

This Sunday, 7/11, is Free Slurpee Day. The event starts at 7 AM. The Slurpees come in special 7.11 ounce cups, which are smaller than regular Slurpees.
