One of Florida’s most talented and versatile studio owners.

Students will learn essential lighting ratios and how to use them to create different effects; how to set up and test lights for consistent results; how to control studio lights and create patterns reminiscent of the Old Master painters; and how to “see” natural light. Students will also learn step-by-step, head to toe posing for men, women, children, couples, groups and bridal portraits, as well as the importance of clothing consultations, sales, and promotions to help increase business year-round and minimize lab costs.

In 1973 Bruce M. Evensen opened Thomas Bruce Studio, Inc. in St. Petersburg, Florida, specializing in Elegant Portraits and Wedding Photography. Bruce has become the most awarded portrait photographer in Florida.

Bruce has earned over 500 state & national merits and his images have won numerous First Place Awards, Best of Show and Kodak Gallery Awards of Excellence. His images have been selected for the prestigious Professional Photographers of America Loan Collection and displayed at the Epcot International Exposition.

Professional Degrees include Master Photographer (M. Photog.), Certified Florida Photographer (C.F.P.), Florida Service Award (F.S.A.), Florida Degree of Photographic Excellence (F.D.P.E.), and Craftsman Degree (Cr.).

Bruce is a popular speaker throughout Florida, the United States, Europe, Canada and Puerto Rico. He has lectured at the Professional Photographers of America National Convention and juried many photographic competitions throughout the world.

Bruce is also an instructor at Tampa’s International Academy of Design and Technology and is consulted regularly for studio design, set-up and business practices. He has been married to Barbara for over 35 years and they have three daughters, Ame, Amber and Jessie, and two grandchildren.

Kudos to fellow PPNCF Member, Joe DiOrio for winning all four merit awards in the photojournalism and environmental portrait categories at the Florida Professional Photographers Convention in August.  The Ocala Star Banner did a feature article on Joe and wanted to pass it along. Join PPNCF Members Chuck Nemeth and Mario Perez for a fun afternoon on the trail.  We will photograph whatever critters we can find.  It will be the start of the migration season.  So, we hope to see many birds.  We will try out our macro skills too.  Bring your walking shoes, water, backpack, monopod, long lens, macro lens and anything else you feel that might be needed.  Be prepared to walk.  Be sure to dress for the weather.  It can still be warm.  There is very little shade out there.  We will see birds, gators, and other creatures.

La Chua Trail leads to Alachua Sink and the center of the prairie marsh and wetlands.  Abundant willdlife including alligators and migratory sandhill cranes.  Platform at trail’s end provides panoramic views.  3 miles round trip.

This award must be used within the calendar year of receipt usually given in January. All members in good standing are eligible. Members must have a minimum of 12 points earned to qualify.

Points are earned as follows: Attendance: 1 point per meeting.

Print Education: Minimum of 4 to qualify. 1 point per people’s choice submission. Additional point for PC merit.

Award Finalist: Points will be added up and the top 5 winners will write an essay with 200-400 words of what photography means to them and why they need this award.

The Scholarship Committee formed of the Past President, Committee Chairman, and a third member of at least two years, will read the essays and determine the best qualified member with consideration of points earned. The Board of Directors will then review the Committees findings and vote to accept the finalist.

A tuition check for the amount of the scholarship award will be made payable to the institution sponsoring the continued event. The award must be approved by the Board of Directors. If the recipient has already paid for the educational tuition, proof of purchase must be submitted and a check can be written out to the member
