‘ If you had it to do all over again, what would you do different?’

Here’s my answer.

The biggest mistake I made, and continue to see others make once they start to build an organization,

is that as the upline, they get emotionally involved and attached to the results of their downline members.

They feel responsible for their success.

Get past that.

It’s not your responsibility.

Make it very clear to your new people as to what they can expect from you as their sponsor.

Do not leave your door wide open or make yourself available 24/7. You are not a charity.

It’s not your job to hold their hand and push them across the finish line, yet for some reason,

that’s become some kind of “expectation” in this industry. ”If I join you, you owe me this…”

B.S.

Just look at corporate America. You get a week or so of orientation and training and then you’re expected

to go to work and get the job done.

You can’t sit there and complain that it’s your bosses’ fault when you don’t meet the expectations set upon you.

You just get fired and replaced.

Remember, you’re a business builder. You are a marketer, and whether or not you want to admit it,

you are a sales person.

You want to spend 90% of your time marketing, prospecting, and building your business. Your downline

will see this and understand it as the “norm”, which means they will do the same.Deciding to do anything

else will result in a downline of hand-holding, shoulder-crying,

sympathetic excuse makers.

Setting this example is the best thing you could ever do for them.

So am I saying not to train and support your people?

Of course not.

But that should only consist of 10-20% of your daily activity. It should not become your primary focus

which is what tends to happen.

So duplication is great in theory, but can become chaotic when you throw people into the equation.

Pick a system.

Use it.

Teach it.

Most people will not duplicate no matter how easy you make it for them, but the “right” people will.

After all we want to find the right people that want to win.

I always find it interesting that January I can’t find a single spot to park at my health club which had spots available all year long. But come February the parking lot is empty again? Why is that? Just one month ago these individuals vowed to change their life and now they have changed their mind? Is it possible that they thought it over and discovered it was a bad idea to get in shape?

The answer is NO it was just time for the commitment end of the bargain to kick in and they weren’t committed.

It’s a lot like our business model network marketing not to be confused with NOTwork marketing. The facts are 1000′s of people have changed their lives financially forever do to this GREAT industry. Yet many people believe there is some kind of magical secret or special plan that makes only a certain amount of people successful. Which is ridiculous.

When you decide to change your life wither it be in your health or financially  you must first decide what your going to do and then commit to achieving it.

People don’t have success in anything they do without having an unshakable commitment to what they are doing. Every year I set goals for myself both in the financial aspect and the health aspect of my life. Then I write down what I’m willing to do or sacerfice in order to achieve this goal or New Years resolution if you want to call it that.

Everyday I remind myself how important my goal is and I stay committed to having success in achieving it. I don’t let the first obstacle or person that wants to distract me from my goal get in my way otherwise my goals would really just be day dreams which accomplishes nothing.

In order to change your life you must be willing to change your bad habits of not following through, especially when it comes to achieving your goals and dreams.

This year when the clock strikes midnight make a promise to yourself to keep the promises you make to yourself. This is your year to change your life and change the lives around you.

This year commit to yourself to follow through.

One of the most important aspects of our business is to “empower” people.  To create duplication.  you should  watch your new team members doing the one on one’s and group meetings.  It is so important NOT to always do it for them, but to help them do it. The old saying comes to mind, “Give a man a fish, and feed him for the day. Teach him to fish, you’ve fed him for life!”

How to properly empower someone or really train someone how to do 1 on 1′s and PBR’s is:

1) Do it for them (let them know that they will do it next.)

2) Watch THEM do it.

We usually want to be the one to do all the one on one’s, two on one’s and group meetings for them all the time. Why, because we want to “get them” in. We don’t want one to get away. That’s sales mentality. That’s also creating DEPENDENCY.

Besides doing the business with your new recruits it’s a good idea, from time to time, to get with them for practice presentations. Yesterday I had a few reps doing practice presentations. They did the presentations to each other first for over 2 hrs.  They also honestly critiqued each other (nicely).  Then I joined them so they could practice on me. By the end of the afternoon they felt so empowered, they felt they did NOT need me anymore. They couldn’t wait to do their own presentations.

Now those few hours I invested on them will not only help them tremendously, but will pay me residually over and over again.

Great teams in sports practice.  Great coaches invest many, many hours in their players.  In this business of ours you must GO OUT AND DO THE BUSINESS with your new recruits.  Also it’s a good idea to practice with them, from time to time.

This is a knee cap to knee cap business.  You should NOT be spending more than 10% of you time in front of a computer OR on the phone.

Are you “empowering” people or are you creating dependency?  Are you building the business yourself or are you just “teaching” people like a school teacher does.  People will do ONLY what they SEE you do.

If you are NOT making enough money in this business I would like you to do the following exercise.  First, quickly go to the nearest mirror.  Then close your eyes.  Now open your eyes.  There is your reason!   That is your reason!!  You and you alone will make it BIG in this business.  Not the company.  Not your up-line. NOT the products.  Only you!

The way to get beyond your fear is to go through it. Do the 

thing you fear and the fear loses its control over you.

Fear can help you to assess the risk and prepare for all 

kinds of challenging situations. But the purpose of fear is 

not to stop you.

Some fears are entirely justified while others are just 

plain silly. Yet no matter how valid the fear may be, there 

is never any reason for it to control you. 

Certainly it is important to look carefully before you move 

forward. And it is just as important that, after sufficient 

due diligence and preparation, you do indeed move forward.

Confidence, ability, strength and success are not built by 

seeking refuge in what is already comfortable and familiar. 

They are built by venturing out into unknown territory, 

prepared for the challenges and determined to do whatever is 

necessary.

First let the fear sharpen your awareness, and then let it 

inspire you to act. On the other side of fear is the 

achievement you seek.
