Ask Kate about renting a personal home without creating a mortgage conflict. Kate, Can I rent my primary residence without a mortgage conflict? I think that a primary home mortgage designation is intended to distinguish the premises from a second home, but I am not sure.

Answer from Ask Kate: Of course, you will need to read through your final loan documents you signed for closing on your current home loan, but many times only an initial one year period is enforced for living in owner-occupied properties. This is called an occupancy agreement.
