The Auction event featured baskets of "goodies" designed and donated by local businesses and supporters and they went like hotcakes. The dinner buffet, building tours and social gathering saw an enthusiastic auction that will be providing funds for the renovation of the long dormant Rex Theater and the establishment of a regional performing arts center and civic auditorium that celebrates our area's history and culture, promotes education and a wide variety of entertainment experiences and inspires audience and artists alike.

The renovated Rex Theater will be a versatile venue with flexible staging options. It is intended as a 225 seat auditorium with removable seats that will accommodate a wide range of performances and events including cinema, performing arts, civic events, dances, concerts, lectures, dinner theater, private parties and special events.

Brian Runberg, the resurrection heartbeat of The Beardmore and now the "Rex Theater" rising, gave an intriguing presentation featuring archived pictures of the before and after similar projects around the nation as well as a history walk through the past focusing on the old theater. What a great evening of community energy and contributions to this noble project.

Personal aside: Our contribution to the event was especially gratifying because we managed to load the car with a basket of "Margarita Madness" donated by Ray and Denise Roberts which contained enough Tequila to support Pancho Villa's army for a month, and a fantastic basket of special lotions, potions, candles, cups and snacks from Maggie, and her business at "The Shanty". Pecky is already planning a basket from "As The Lake Churns" for next years event called "Un poco de Todo".

To see and read more about the Beardmore and the Rex click HERE

My brother and I are looking for someone who could come to the cabin and assist my mom with bathroom, bathing and getting dressed activities each morning from December 25th through the 28th (4 days).

My brother and I will probably handle these chores on our own at night. So I would expect it would be about 2 to 3 hours each morning from 10 to noon or 1pm. We might want help at night but not likely. We’d pay well for this to make the trip to the resort worthwhile. - Jim Kane

Born on April 12, 1988, in Spokane, WA, she was diagnosed with Down syndrome. She attended Spokane Guild School for three years in her early life and she was a pioneer for the integration of special education students to their neighborhood school in Spokane. She attended Priest Lake Elementary and went on to Priest River Junior High.

Mrs. Coralee Proctor wanted to say this about her “Janie Rae…was a leader in our classroom. She had a special gift, the longer you knew her the deeper her “gift” touched your heart. Her smile lit up the classroom with encouragement and love. She loved to help with getting snack ready and setting the table to look ‘pretty’. Janie Rae would remind us to wait for everyone to be seated before eating our snack by saying ‘Waiting”. Once we were all seated she would nod her head and everyone would begin our snack time. She loved being able to go to other classes. Her caring loving life touched many people. She knew when others needed comforted, she wanted everyone to be happy. Janie Rae would get picked up at the end of the day and wave goodbye and give us the sign for ‘I love you’ or blow us a kiss. Janie Rae we love you and will never forget you and all you gave us through your life.”

In the midst of her junior high career she transferred to Sacajawea Middle School in Spokane, where she achieved honor roll status and participated in basketball. Not only was she the main moral support through her mother’s cancer, she still could maintain such an honorary status at school. Upon her Mother’s remission she returned to Priest River Lamanna High. She then attended Sandpoint High School for her Junior and Senior year, where she lived so her brother could ski race.

Survived by her parents, Sandy and Kevin Van Deventer; siblings Joe Bailey, Jacob Van Deventer and Vienna Bridges; grandparents, Jackie Haight, David and Irene Haight; and niece Spencer Love Shaked.

She was preceded in death by her sister Billie Joe Bailey; a cousin Christopher Wemhoff; an uncle Raymond Pfiefer; and paternal grandparents, Dale and JoAnn Van Deventer.

Not only did she live life to the fullest, she taught so many the true meaning of unconditional love. Her love was an example that we will all strive to incorporate into our own lives. Her favorite things were her Barbies, videos of Barney, Super Nintendo and swimming in her native Priest Lake. We know she will be looking down on those she loved and know that she helped to guide many people in a good direction when she walked this earth. If everybody could love with her capacity then the world would be a better place.

The Family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers and kind gestures. A memorial campout will be held from Friday, July 16, 2010 through Sunday, July 25, 2010, at Priest Lake, Idaho. The ashes of Janie Rae and her sister Billy Joe will be spread on Saturday, July 24, 2010. Family and Friends are welcome to participate in celebrating her life and memories that we all share with who was and truly is now, an angel.

Her family knows that many people loved and will miss Janie Rae. They will miss her too.

PRIEST LAKE TRANSLATOR DISTRICT
Post Office Box 53 Coolin, ID 83821 (208) 443-2492

PRIEST LAKE TRANSLATOR DISTRICT CONVERTS TWO ADDITIONAL TV CHANNELS TO DIGITAL/HIGH DEFINITION TRANSMISSION.

The Priest Lake Translator District, this week, converted two additional television channels to digital-high definition transmission. The west-side, Lakeview Mountain channels KXLY (ABC) and KHQ (NBC) are now transmitting in DTV, and multi-casting their sub-channel(s).

Galen Miller, Chairman of the District’s Board of Trustees, announced that new DTV equipment has been installed, and is operational. This will now provide Priest Lake patrons with three digital television channels: KSPS, KXLY and KHQ. The conversion of KREM-CBS (channel-9) and KAYU-FOX (channel-11) will hopefully occur in 2010, depending on budgets and funding. Viewers are reminded that in order to acquire these new digital signals, you will need to conduct another “channel search” with either your converter box or digital-ready television receiver. This procedure allows your converter box or TV to search for, and acquire these new digital transmissions.

Miller said the District hopes to convert the east-side translator channel-51 (KAYU) to digital yet this fall. If this occurs, it would then give the Cavanaugh Bay site two HD channels (KSPS & KAYU), with channel-40 (KREM) to hopefully be converted in 2010.

LAKEVIEW MOUNTAIN DIGITAL CHANNELS:
KXLY-ABC main channel will appear as channel 4.1
KXMN-My Network TV will appear as channel 4.2
KXLY – main channel in Standard Definition, and will appear as channel 4.3
KHQ-NBC main channel will appear as channel 6.1
KHQ-SWX sports & weather channel will appear as channel 6.2
KHQ-UNIVERSAL SPORTS will appear as channel 6.3
KSPS-PBS main channel will appear as channel 7.1
KSPS-WORLD will appear as channel 7.2
KSPS-CREATE will appear as channel 7.3

LAKEVIEW MOUNTAIN ANALOG CHANNELS:
KREM – CBS channel 9
KAYU – FOX channel 11
IDAHO PBS – (UHF) channel 42

Viewers who may have difficulty in programming equipment and/or reception of translator signals should contact the District office: (208) 443-2492. A technician will return your call to offer advice on problems that may develop.
