PrettyBOY Exclusive - Hybrid Dress Dunk Collection

I was privileged to get an exclusive sneak peak at the latest concept of what a luxury custom shoe should look like. From the minds of A.J. Ballard, PMK's President/Creative Director, who goes by the name Locksmith in collaboration with OMB (Oliver Moore Bootmakers) and co designed Jon Silverman, OMB's Marketing Specialist and certified Pedorthist.

At first glance I was like "Hmmm, another variation of the mundane Nike Dunk...." Until I enlarged the images. The first thing that grabs you are the very bold yet strangely subtle fall colors. A perfect clash of a rich mahogany and soft olive green make for a very classy look (absolutely customizable to fit any colorway). Dubbed the "Dress Dunk Collection" you can tell these shoes are not your ordinary Footlocker purchase. As I move to the side of the sneaker, I notice a textured Nike check with a familiar feel - Alligator......"Lovely" also fully customizable. With 4 different styles varying from the tradition Dunk, to a wingtip styled boot, there is a little something for all tastes or occasions.

We decided to collab after agreeing that the sneaker game needed a culture shock. These Dress Sneakers were designed by A.J. Ballard, PMK's President/Creative Director, who goes by the name Locksmith and co designed Jon Silverman, OMB's Marketing Specialist and certified Pedorthist. Each pair in this collection is a hand made, reconstructed piece of art. With its dress leather finish and alligator accented checks these shoes are pure luxury for your feet. If you decide on doing a "no sock" look, you are guaranteed to be pleased with the padded suede interior. OMB has been designing and hand crafting dress shoes since 1878 doing work for multiple celebs, athletes, entertainers and most recently American bad boy Charlie Sheen. We are just getting warmed up. Nike isn't the only brand that we are interested in that's why our motto is "Nothing is safe". This is a limited volume release, only 5 pairs will be made of each style. You can also pick and choose from a wide variety of dress leathers and exotic skins to create your own one-of-a-kind luxury sneakers. We are the AMG of the sneaker industry!

Porsche Design's hookah pipe: Emitting fumes stylishly

There is no area that has not been touched by the Porsche Design studio, and now the iconic fashion ideas of the Porsche Design luxury brand are revealed at its best in the brand new Shisha or Hookah pipe. Their new German-made bong-like pipe is inspired from the Hookahs used in Middle-Eastern region and is available at the Porsche’s new shop at Harrods department store in London, Knightsbridge, although the store was sold to a Qatari royal family, which in turn just happens to own 10 percent of Porsche.

This elegant pipe is made of materials such as aluminum, stainless steel and glass combined with TecFlex pipes. The company has used the same material that it uses in the range of luxury writing instruments. This made-in-Germany pipe is not only made with obdurate engineering and innovation but also with a concern of customer’s safety. This Shisha is 55 cm tall and is elegantly crafted with aluminum top and glass bottom that also makes it a collectible item for your living room. There is no clue of price as of now, but we will keep you posted about it.

Game Over – Gucci’s New Carbon Fiber Shoes for Men

Our good buddy Alex D swung by the CFG offices a couple weeks ago with a little surprise for us. He brought a box with a Gucci logo on it, and popped up a pair of shoes with real carbon fiber on the heel.

It’s not everyday that I get to blog about fashion when it comes to carbon fiber but I guess today is my lucky day. The shoes that Alex brought are called the Gucci’s GG Plus Moccasin. Gucci plus carbon fiber? Now that’s just ridiculous.

While these shoes aren’t for everybody, we get giddy when seeing well known luxury brands incorporate carbon fiber into their products. We’ve seen this with brands like Dunhill London, Gucci, Chanel, Mont Blanc, Ralph Lauren and many others. It reaffirms that carbon fiber is the next generation of luxury material, hence our slogan “Carbon Fiber is the New Black.”

A little Gucci history for you;

“In 1921 Florence, a craftsman named Guccio Gucci opened his store to sell leather goods, and a legend was born. Over the decades, people around the world have admired and appreciated works from the House of Gucci—whether it’s women’s ready-to-wear, men’s designs, children’s clothes, accessories, handbags, shoes, or fragrances. Today, designer Frida Giannini holds the reins of this venerable Italian line.”

We immediately took his shoes and snapped a few shots so we could share them with our readers.

Made in Italy, the GG Plus Moccasin comes in beige/ebony with dark brown leather trim and a rubber sole, a pattern similar to any classic Gucci purse. The shoe also has a cutout interlocking G detail on the front of the shoe. The carbon fiber is found on the back heel of the shoe in the rubber sole. While it adds absolutely no benefit what so ever (that we know of) to the shoe, besides a conversational piece, it sure does add beauty and quality.

The GG Plus Moccasin with carbon fiber heels are being sold for $425 and can be found at various department stores like Bergdorf Goodman or Neiman Marcus. If you’d like to see more pictures, head over to our Flickr page where we uploaded a set.

It’s a complex situation, but there are a few warning signs that your girlfriend is not marriage material. Here's some of the most obvious hints that she’ll make a bad wife.

She’s flighty

A woman who has trouble committing to a job, a friendship or even a hairstyle might not be the best person to swear your undying loyalty to. If she has tried numerous short-lived career paths or is constantly making new friends and dropping the old ones, these may be indications that she’s not the kind of girl who’s in it for the long haul. Settling down simply may not be in the cards for someone so free-spirited and fickle.

Even if she sticks around, consider the possibility that her ever-changing lifestyle could derail your own life plan as well. Getting married means combining your lives in nearly every sense. Give some serious thought as to whether or not she will be a good influence on your future.

She’s jealous

If your girlfriend is jealous of every girl who comes near you, putting a ring on her finger is not going to make her more secure. Everyone gets jealous sometimes, but if you find yourself constantly having to reassure her that the other women in your life are not a threat to her, this could spell doom for a long-term commitment. A good wife is not possessive or irrational. As long as you’re not giving her any reason to be suspicious, she should be able to keep the green-eyed monster in check.

Her sex drive doesn’t match yours

Sex is an important part of any relationship, and the way you relate to each other physically has a big influence on whether you stay together after you say “I do.” One sign that she might make a bad wife is if her sex drive differs wildly from yours. Whether it’s much higher or much lower than your own, her libido will have a huge effect on your happiness as a married couple. Sex-drive issues can be the result of medical or psychological problems, so problems might come and go, but either way, it’s best to work this out before you walk down the aisle.

She doesn’t want your friends around

A girl who disapproves of you hanging out with your friends will become a wife who doesn’t want you to have your own life outside of the marriage. Even if she’s not that fond of your buddies, she shouldn't stand in the way of you spending time with them on your own. Provided your friends aren’t convincing you to rob banks or some other objectionable behavior, she should trust you to make your own decisions about your friends. If she tries to restrict that now, it’ll only get worse after you say your vows.

She tries to change you

If your girlfriend is constantly nitpicking about your appearance, your behavior, your personality, your career path, your friends, and your habits, she is essentially telling you that you’re not good enough for her. Everyone can make improvements in their lives, and a good partner should help you become a better man, but if she’s forever on your case about changing one thing or another, she’s going to make a bad wife.

You also have to decide whether or not the things she’s asking you to change are reasonable or out of the question. Can you give up your vision of a loft downtown for her desire for a house in the suburbs? What if you’ve always wanted to be a father and she is dead-set against having children? Ask yourself how much you’re willing to give up to please her.

Not marriage material

Contrary to the wisdom of pop songs, love is not enough to make a marriage work. Getting married means sharing your entire life with another person, so you want to make absolutely sure that she is someone you’ll be happy spending time with day in and day out. Keep an eye out for these warning signs that she will make a bad wife and avoid committing to the wrong woman.
