Thousands of Iowans will be enjoying the sights, sounds and tastes of the Iowa State Fair. I want to personally invite you to visit the Iowa GOP booth at the fair, which runs this Thursday, August 12 through Sunday, August 22. Republican candidates, office holders and national leaders are all planning stops at the Iowa GOP booth to meet the scores of Iowans who come by every day.

I encourage all Iowans to stop by and talk with our candidates, to hear their principled solutions for moving this state forward. We’ll also have absentee ballot requests if you’re ready to send a message that we need principled, conservative government here in Iowa.

In addition to meeting fellow Republicans, you have a chance to win a pair of tickets to the sold-out Iowa-Iowa State football game. The theme for this year’s fair is “non-stop fun” and what can be more fun than the traditional in-state rivalry? You can enter to win by texting the word “Cyclones” or “Hawkeyes” (whichever team you plan to root for) to 41513, or enter at the booth. A random winner will be chosen at the conclusion of the Fair.

The Iowa GOP booth will be in its traditional location along the North wall of the air-conditioned Varied Industries Building.

District 3 : Dave Funk
District 4 : Bonita Davis
District 5 : Anita Morrill

These districts are held by Democrats, all of whom will be seeking reelection in November.

“This has been a very encouraging evening with all three of these great conservative candidates stepping up to make a difference for Liberty,” said John Bloom, Polk County Republican Chair.  “We are looking forward to a dynamic campaign of a sort that we have not seen in Polk County in a long time.”

Republicans in Polk County nominated these candidates in a special convention held for this purpose on Tuesday, July 27.  Democrats have held the majority of seats on the Polk County Board of Supervisors since 1948.

Our next Central Committee meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 from 7:00p – 9:00p at the Victory Village Republican Headquarters, home of Governor Branstad and other Republican campaigns (3590 109th St. in Urbandale).
