Is my Pogoplug Faulty?

I have a Pogoplug Pro which I bought about 2-3 months ago, used it for 2 weeks and went back to LiveDrive. Now I want to use it again but there are loads of issues. 1. If I connect to my.pogoplug.com it takes ages, maybe 5 minutes or more to show the folders in my drive and takes about the same time when loading my content but 90% of the time it says there is no device connected then I refrsh the page and it works, very slowly. I've powered down the Pogoplug, taken out the drives, powered on, wait for green light and plug back in the drives but the same issues continues. Also I have a 6mb upload speed and if I do get to upload a file it uploads at 14k.

Music question...(sorry if a thread already existed)

Greetings - My PogoPlug Pro (v 3.2.6) had a drive on it that had a majority of my music. I ejected the drive as the drive itself was slow causing the streaming outside of my wifi amost painfully slow. HOWEVER - the drive is removed but PogoPlug Pro still lists music that I know doesn't exist anymore and not surprisingly it will give me an error stating that fact, the file is on a drive that no longer exists. I did re-index my music using the mobile app but is there something I am missing to tell PogoPlug Pro to reindex itself? I may need to do this with my newer PogoPlug Mobile as I am moving music from one drive to a bigger drive (these newer drives both have USB 3.0 and the speed improvement is delightful). For the moment, I usually avoid the music app due to this issue of it not displaying what truly exists. As always, any assistance is appreciated. Thanks, Nataswon

PCs lose WiFi connection when Pogo connected

I am new with Pogo so bear with me. I searched but did not see this issue. I connected the Pogo Mobile to my router. I registered and downloaded some software. (Documentation is not very clear). Did get it working. I connect several laptops via WiFi in the home. I noticed while working on one laptop that the network would become unavailable but then would come back. I thought it to be a problem with that laptop but now have confirmed that it was happening with all computers in the house. Also work on these laptops was very slow. I finally unplugged the Pogo Mobile and all is good now. From my work within IT (40 years) I suspect there is an IP address conflict. Can you point me to a solution. Robert

My pogoplug is scanning media for 2 days

Green flashing light

My pogoplug is sitting here with greeen flashing light for over a hour now. I unplugged the power, removed all the connection to the device. I plugged the power with nothing else plugged in and light still blinking what is wrong with this unit?

Pogoplug Pro forever green blinking LED

Hi, I got a Pogoplug Pro ( POGO-P01 - Pro ) with forever Green blinking LED * Power on the device * internal blue led lights up for a few seconds, then * external green led starts blinking and keeps blinking forever Tried to hook up serial, but nothing seems to come up, hooked up a meter to serial header and it shows 4.5 volts, which seems odd. I've checkout other post on green blinking led, but there the device reboots after 20 seconds, which seems different here. Ok a bit rambly post, so let's get to the point: any hints how to bring it back to useful life? -okigan

problem connecting drives

I have a 2t seagate drive that pogo does find and use when it is the only drive. when I plug in an additional wd 2t drive the seagate drive is no longer available only the second drive is listed. If I plug in the wd 2t drive and an additional drive the pogo seems to work properly. it is only when I try connecting the 2nd 2t seagate drive that things just don't work. I hvae tried uninstalling the pogo device powered down everything and plugging in drives in different order and either i havnt got the right combination but the only thing to work is the wd 2t drive with an other drive. the seagate drive which has an exact copy of the information of the wd 2t drive does not allow for other usb drives.. this is starting to drive me a little crazy thanks

I have a Seagate Dockstar that I have been making several changes to recently, among them: -changed the SSH password -assignment of static IP address -installation of Optware: http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/Main/PlugComputers /p> -installation and configuration of NTP through Optware -installation and configuration of AFP (trying to get Time Machine working) through Optware A couple of days ago I removed the /etc/init.d/hbmgr.sh line from /etc/init.d/rcS because it seemed that the mounted of drives that occurs when that script is run was preventing AFP from working. It wasn't until after I did that and read various postings online that I realized that one of the functions of that script is starting SSH access. The LED blinks green for a little bit before blinking yellow. My static IP (assigned through commands I added to /etc/init.d/rcS) has held and I am able to ping the Dockstar at the expected IP address. I have a USB to serial adapter that has the PL2303 chipset. Looking at the cable, it looks like the chipset is in the serial end rather than the USB end. As a result, I didn't behead the serial end. Instead I rigged up a connection to the Dockstar using this cable, some alligator clips,...

Destination Folder Unavailable

When I enable backup and let it go. it works for a while and after couple hours I visit the website again. I see those folders become unavailable. Strange thing is that I can still see those folder and drives from the main page. And I try to remove those backup enable selection with Unavailable, I cannot remove them. Any suggestions why this is happening?

Pogoplug noob and NAT issue

Hi all! I'm about to buying pogo, however I've no idea if it can do the job I want to assign to it :) I would like to set up systematically back-up of my data in differential backup mode. The issue is that I have dynamic external IP due to my local provider. What is more I have wifi router at home, so the pogo would be under double layer of the NAT. How I can communicate with the pogo outside the locals and set up backup? Minor issue is how to set up print server on it, but this can wait. Pogo I want to buy is with installed arch linux on it. Help? :)

Unsure of how to enable remote access in version 5.1

As the topic states, the PC is showing as offline. The drives are fine, never had a problem there except for sorting music files which Cloud Engines seems completely incapable of fixing, but I digress. I like a streamlined interface as much as the next guy, but I'm not quite figuring out how to enable remote access in this software version and for some reason I feel like the solution is staring me in the face. Anyone else having this issue?

Pogoplug only showing as connected at 10mbps

Hi, My Pogoplug is only showing as being connected at 10mbps, despite my switch showing it as connected at 1gbps. The 10mbps would tally with the speeds I'm getting when copying large files to a Pogoplug'd drive (around 8-10Mb/s). The laptop network connection is 1gbps. Am I doing something wrong? I need help please. I have a Asus Oplay Air.... and using UPnP Im trying to play media from my Pogoplug Mobile which has a 8gb sd card and a 500Gb 2.5 Seagate HDD attached. Through the Asus UPnP I can see the SD card....no HDD If I remove the card the Pogoplug does not show up in the search at all. If I put the card back in ...the Pogoplug mobile shows up again but only the SD card. I am currently transfering all my stuff from the 500gb HDD to my PC so I can convert it to FAT32....this is taking a long time, so I decided to prove the theory of FAT 32 being the ticket and formatted a 16 GB USB thumb drive to FAT 32 and loaded 3 x movies..well to my dissapointment the thuimb drive didnt show up..only the SD card so I am kinda feeling that the long proccess of removing media...formatting to FAT32and recovering media to the HDD is going to prove a waste of time :-( So I need help as I cant seem to figure out the solution myself. Also I hope there is a way I could watch media...

WTF happened to my pogoplugs!?!?

I have several Pogoplug devices in my home, consisting of the Pogoplug pink and Seagate Dockstar devices. Just recently, I discovered that my devices must have phoned home and updated on their own. Now I can no longer access many of the features that I use to do. I had created several slideshows on my device that I shared with family and friends. The slideshows consisted of photo slides with music (via mp3 file) playing during the slideshow. I can no longer access my previous slideshows. I am also lost as to how to create new slideshows. And what the hell is this Team scam? I used to be able to easily share out files and folders. While I can understand that the company needs to change their business model in order to generate revenue, why would you alienate your customers by trashing their hardware? I still have devices that I purchased solely as back up devices in case my production ones fail. But now, you've entirely altered their original functionality. WTF!?

Photos / Media ?

I am wondering if there is a way to limit where the device searches for "media" I have a music folder and a photo folder. When I click on my photo folder, it seems to see all the Album art (all jpg's) from a music folder containing 1000's of CD's, artists, songs. Any way to have the pogoplug ignore jpg's in the music folder ?

my Pogoplug 4, after installation shows up under devices, but "offline" with no files

Hi I just bought a Pogoplug 4. I went through the installation process. The result is that the new 'pogoplug 4' shows up under devices but "offline" so I cannot see any files. Appreciate any help. I've been using several version of Pogoplug for a while so I am bit familiar with the product and I am wondering if I just need to wait until the files "process/transcode" the first time. Multiple "Logins" or security levels

I need to open up access to my pogoplug series 4 attached drives to others who need access. But they don't need access to every drive on the device. IS there anyway to "map" security "rights" to a login id? i.e. my main email address has 100% access, email address B can access drive A but not B... Is there anyway to do some security or access rights customization? Another example. I have several drives attached to 3 PP devices. As a grad student, I want to set up a small cloud for fellow students in my department. Access to one drive for the IDs (email address or whatever) that are in that group... Without having to dedicate an entire PP device to that one "cloud service"... Any one do any playing around here? Brett
