how to make flash drive always sda1 or show only ntfs drive in samba?

I am new to all these but was able to follow instructions and use the yahoo group quick install on a staples brand 4gb micro flash drive and get everything working fine so far. I want to make samba share to only show the hard drives and not the flash drive as it is currently pointing to /tmp/.cemnt. Since this is a flash drive, if I reboot with other usb drives still attached, the flash drive will become sdb1, not sda1. It is still mounted to /opt. But my usb hard drive has 3 partitions and I only want to use sdx3. Is there a way so that samba only show this third partition on the usb drive? Or to put it another way, is there a way to mount all the ntfs partitions only on samba share?

Questions about adding Samba

Hi, looking to add samba to my pogoplug pro but have a few questions before i take the plunge. I have figured that i need to Install/add the package installer first. I have read different accounts of both using a USB key to do the job and installing it straight to the plug. Then adding Samba using the package handler. If i was to use the USB method can i remove it after or does it hve to be left in?. I have the general idea just trying ti fill in the blanks. Any help is greatfully received.

Hi, I'm working with the REST API and i'm having trouble viewing shares that were shared with me by another user. I've tried both: http://service.pogoplug.com/svc/api/listShares?valtoken=[valToken]&shared=true as well as using services: http://service.pogoplug.com/svc/api/listServices?valtoken=[valToken]&shared=true Regardless, i'm always getting a list of files that i'm sharing. I'm assuming it might have something to do with how there is a Collaborate folder now, however i can't find anything in the API to access it. Any ideas? Thanks
[Read more]

Has anyone seen or tried this guide to installing Hamachi on your Pogoplug? A better Guide to Hamachi on the Pogo Plug I'm curious to try it but before I jumped in thought I'd see if any of you had already gotten it up and running. I'd read this article on Lifehacker about using Hamachi and Privoxy to secure your browsing wherever you were , and thought it would be awesome to have my Pogoplug running Hamachi as a cheaper, power-saving means to have an always-on VPN server. Am I right that in order to install this my Pogoplug would have to be running Arch, rather that just Optware which I have installed already? Thanks all!

Hi all, quite new to this all, especially to linux so pleases be kind :) I'm using Pogoplug mobile and i think some went wrong, so now i'm wondering if there is any way i could restore it as a new one. I attempted to install archlinux and ajaxplorer, instead of using my.pogoplug.com, and actually it worked fine. Then, I wanted to revert it, so i followed the instruction at http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv5/pogoplug-series-4 . Now my pogoplug's green led keeps blinking and does not recognize my hard drive more than 60 MB(why 60MB?????) I still have SSH access to my pogoplug, no console-cable-building work is needed, i guess. Any help is appreciated.

I think it would be pretty cool if a Pogoplug could RAID two identical USB Drives hooked up to it so you could have data redundancy. I know you can buy USB RAID enclosures but it's just a thought. You could map one USB port to another, that would still leave you with 2 unused USB ports unless your drives needed power from those two other ports. Probably be a good fit for the BIZ (business) model. thoughts?

Merging support tickets - This is a problem

Hello All, Christopher I hope you see this and can help. I have at least 3 different support tickets that I opened but every time I submit another one they keep closing it saying it is merged with ticket 57445 but there is nothing in 57445 that shows each problem that is merged into it. These are 3 very different issues. I do not think that this is a very organized way to do business. I would like each problem to remain open until it is resolved otherwise things get lost. Tickets that they did this to ... 57627 There is a Music, Photos and Videos directories on my primary hard drive. Where did they come from? 19:23 Closed Fumio 19:33 57444 RPC error Dec-30 Closed Fumio Dec-30 Thanks Steve
[Read more]

Install Puppy OR "Damn Small Linux" on pogoplug pro

Hi Community Nice to have this forum. Indulge me and my question, i am only experienced in PHP, Perl. Object: Pogoplug Pro Special Features: WiFi Goal: Install a desktop Linux Desktop Distro with Graphical UserInterface. Damn Small Linux and Puppy need only 16gb RAM and can be used with a live-USB. Goal explained: I want the Pogo to be used as a small PC attached to my TV where i can surf the net, view Media, programm. My experience with Linux so far: Puppy, Ubuntu, DSL install or boot from Live-USB Questions: Can i install "puppy" or similar on the device or is a special distro for Arm needed? Will it be difficult to make the WiFi work on such a linux distro? What would you recommend considering my need? Thanks a ton for your advice and help Greetings from Europe, Gerome
[Read more]

persistent mount issue

Greetings. I followed the directions here: http://www.pogoplugged.com/article/21667/Pogoplug-Hackery-How-to-Set-Up-Persistent-USB-Mount-Locations/ i have added the following to the bottom of my /etc/init.d/rcS: mount `/usr/sbin/findfs UUID="473480a0-f633-46ae-8832-3f1e55eac82b"` /opt but it seems to be ignored. I also have tried to stop hbmrg, delete sda1 from /tmp/.cemnt, then restart, however then i get this: df Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on ubi0:rootfs 104524 11880 92644 11% / none 62884 12 62872 0% /tmp/dev/ sda1 1899892 4628 1798752 0% /opt/tmp/.cemnt/ sda1 1899892 4628 1798752 0% /tmp/.cemnt/mnt_sda1/tmp/.cemnt/ sdb1 1922859912 200184 1824984052 0% /tmp/.cemnt/mnt_sdb1
[Read more]
