"seeing" drives on Pogoplugs that aren't yours

Has anyone ever "seen" drives connected to a Pogoplug that isn't registered to them? I have. I downloaded the files (it was a 1gb USB stick), and wrote a "read-me.txt" on the remote drive, with my email address and a short note. I haven't heard from the owner to date, and was unsuccessful in trying to contact (admittedly a guess job, but there was some quasi locational information and a name). Anyhow, it looks like a big security lapse to me. I worry about how many people can see the drives I have attached to my Pogoplugs. I'm wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience. Cloud Engines sent me a replacement.

I ran across this. Talk about hackin g your Pogoplug! ...O’Connor has designed the cheap gadgets to dropped from a drone, plugged inconspicuously into a wall socket, thrown over a barrier, or otherwise put into irretrievable positions to quietly collect data and send it back to the owner over any available Wifi network.

Hello everyone. I am thinking of purchasing a Pogoplug and did a little research on it. I hear a lot of good things and I must admit seems like a great product, however, Something I read did catch my attention. http://robpickering.com/2010/01/beware-the-pogoplug-7 This thread talks about a high risk security gap that really concerns me. I cannot seem to find any information addressing this on this website or other sites I have looked at. Is there anyone here that might be able to explain how high a risk it is and if/or not Pogo Plug has addressed this issue? I would really like to know as I am considering ordering a few of these and just want to the full lowdown on it before I decide to go with it. Thanks in advance to anyone that can clarify.

I bought an Iomega iConnect a couple of months ago and has been using it to stream movies/musics/photos to my PS3, Xbox360, WD TV Live and Netgear EVA2000. It has similar features to Pogoplug ( I obtained it week ago). I have problems using the remote access with my iConnect. With Pogoplug however, being able to share the content online and the ease of use is so wonderful. So, now I left my iConnect for local streaming of media and my Pogoplug for internet sharing.

Found on this website; http://www.gamingnexus.com/FullNews/CES-Swag-a-thon-2010-Day-1-Finale/Item157... from someone that was told at CES. " pogoplug - This is the runaway winner for swag of the day, even with the great start this morning. I know it’s pink, so let’s get the tittering out of the way right now. Their branding is pink so it’s what they went with for the first model (the black one is soon to ship) . This was one of those items you really had to work for, and have a good affinity for the person who stands between you and the swag. In this case, it was the CEO of the company, a tremendously nice guy who I genuinely like. In fact, I liked him even before he gave me the pogoplug. Oh, so you want to know what it is? It’s your personal cloud, as the box says. You can share photos, music, whatever without an upload. Put the pogoplug onto your network and stick USB’s full of stuff into it. You can share to phones, other people, whatever. Plus it’s small.

I two Pogoplugs on November 20; one as a gift being shipped directly to the recipient, and one for myself. Both items shipped UPS 2 day air on Monday. The gift has gone through the delivery cycle in a timely fashion. Unfortunately, the device I ordered for myself has been delayed by unexplained problems in the UPS system. Delivery was delayed by one day, so it was rescheduled for tomorrow. The problem is that it is being shipped to my office and I will not be there until Monday. I contacted UPS and they could neither give me a reason for the rescheduled delivery, nor could they change the shipping address while the package was en route. They suggested I call the shipper to see if they could change the address. I contacted Jeff Fochtman, VP of Sales and Marketing, and explained the situation. He asked me to send him my alternate shipping address so he could forward my information to Chris Louie. Chris intervened on my behalf and worked with UPS to generate a shipment intercept request that would re-route my package to my home address. Not only did they help me out, but they resolved my problem in...

New Drive App/Drive Sync Status?

Anyone? <crickets> <crickets> hello? Can anyone please give us an update as to when you are gonna release a new drive app that has file sync? An earlier post said it was gonna be released 1 week after 2.0 web and firmware apps were released...but still nothing.. there was also no mention of it in the review of the new pogoplug. Am I to assume then that you guys held off releasing it due to technical/dev problems? Any info would be appreciated instead of a communication vaccum.

Hope they get delivery problems sorted out

Ordered a system over a month ago, promised it would ship mid December, here we are with a UPS tracker number that UPS doesn't recognise, and no-one picks up the phone at Cloud Engines. Maybe someone will look at the forum messages and realize that they have logistics issues.
