The Jurassic phone you (still) have shows how much you know about mobile phones. If you admire iPhones, you should know that hardcore Appleheads want Swype so badly, they have written copycat apps and have hacked ways to put Swype on an iPhone – with various YouTube tutorials teaching you how to do it.

For the rest of the planet (Android users) this has proven a much preferred way of input, not only for texting but anything that requires a keyboard: emails, entering URLs for browsing, taking notes or creating formal documents – any alphanumeric task.

It is (a lot) more intelligent than T9 with much better predictions, is 'learning' your preferred words (and spelling), and any auto-predictions or corrections can be switched off to manual choice form a menu of possible words. And it is lightning-fast. Takes a day to get used to – and there's no going back. During one update (uninstall-reinstall) I had no Swype for a couple of hours and had to use the 'normal' phone keyboard: couldn't believe how awkward and painfully slow it is!

There's a bit of a price difference between the Kindle and the iPad. I don't own a SmartPhone either, though I consider myself to be relatively up to date on electronics. So, for me, the Kindle is a good AFFORDABLE option. I don't need a gazillion apps and fancy stuff, I prefer to keep it simple. So, I'll be picking up my Kindle in a month and enjoying reading away from my computer screen.

we can also establish relationships with other bloggers, and post links to their blog posts; without actually “begging” per se, they will reciprocate. now of course there are the narcissists, and the selfish, who won't and in those instances, we don't have to retweet their blog posts again, do we?

also creating a list of bloggers who you follow promotes them, and maybe they will promote you.

i have a list of “Secret Mayan Connections” of my favorite twersons on twitter, set up as a separate page apart from “Home” or blog entries in addition to a widget both containing bloggers.

lastly, i include hyperlinks to twitter, wordpress, blogger, digg and other profile pages actually within the articles and vary my writing content to include stuff from other bloggers as well, IE: “today, i was reading @PiperBayard s blog…”

Telling users to upgrade to Windows 7 is ridiculous. For many, that would require upgrading hardware too. For most users who just browse and email, that should not be necessary.
For the average user, a better alternative would be to ditch Windows and go with Ubuntu – it's free and runs faster.
