Best Coast: "This Is Real"

Earlier this year, Bethany Cosentino did spaced-out drone with Pocahaunted (the band released an LP on Troubleman Unlimited), and more recently she's been making some waves with her noise-pop project Best Coast. First there was a 7" on Art Fag, and now Best Coast has a new single on the way, via Fool's Gold/Foreign Born home Black Iris. "This Is Real" is the B-side to the "When I'm With You" single, and it's available digitally starting tomorrow.

Jonathan Clancy (aka His Clancyness) is still a relative mystery despite his growing popularity. In this follow up to his previously released track, a shoegazey cover of Wavves' "So Bored" (check out the MP3 below), he trades in saturated vocals and fuzzy guitars for softly marching drums and a smoother sound.

Magic Kids: "Superball"

Memphis' Magic Kids are a relatively new bedroom project of some veterans of the Midsouth music scene, and as yet, they've got only a handful of songs to their name (check out their first, the Langley School-inspired "Hey Boy", over on their MySpace). Their latest, "Superball", is a lush pop tune as bouncy as its titular object, and even features a refrain of "bounce bounce bounce"; a flurry of strings, woodwinds, and tambourine make a buoyant bed for lead singer Bennet's charmingly nasal vocals. This track will appear on a forthcoming split 7" on Fat Possum, with the Smith Westerns' "Imagine, Pt. 3" on the flip. (via Transparent)
