Tim Cook's changes at Apple, for better or worse

Apple is still Apple, but apparently more open, and more corporate.

Since taking over for former Apple CEO Steve Jobs last August, newly minted CEO Tim Cook has slowly made a number of changes to how things are done at the company. Whereas Jobs was mercurial, Cook is apparently genteel. Whereas Jobs downplayed labor issues in China, Cook has personally visited factory floors and met with Chinese officials.

You may remember awhile back when we told you about the extra effort AT&T went through to lock down the HTC One X’s bootloader for their network (vs the international model).

Well, it didn’t take long for those wacky devs on XDA to crack it, opening up the device to custom ROMs and modding. They even

Samsung’s Galaxy S3 TouchWiz Ported To Galaxy Note, Galaxy S2 and… (Yikes !)the Galaxy Nexus

If you currently have in your possession a Samsung Galaxy Note or Samsung Galaxy S2 that just so happens to be rooted, I would like to inform you that you can now add the all-new-and-improved TouchWiz UI from the Samsung Galaxy S3 onto those devices.

The launcher reportedly runs great and is an excellent option for those of you looking to add a little pizzazz to your device. While the launcher plays well with TouchWiz’d ROMs, a less stable test version

Ladies and gentleman, boys and girls, we have hit that time once again in the jailbreak cycle when we can all breathe a huge sigh of relief and raise a glass to the jailbreak producers while we overload their servers attempting to download the new and shiny utility that will provide our devices with freedom. Yes, that is right, I am indeed talking about downloading Absinthe 2.0, the latest version of the Chronic Dev Team tool that brings an untethered jailbreak

HTC EVO 4G LTE is rooted with a simple script

Now that some pre-orders are getting filled and the EVO 4G LTE is in the hands of Android fans, it was just a matter of time before it got rooted.

It's a pretty simple affair, using the same exploit as the Transformer Prime after the Ice Cream Sandwich update.

It's pretty simple -- install drivers if needed, then run a small script. The end result is a rooted EVO,
