Windows XP/Vista/7 Run Commands

Many people sometimes use the RUN option in the start menu of Windows to execute certain applications. The advance users prefer typing with keyboards instead of using the mouse clicks. It is easy to just simply launch some application from the run menu rather than holding your mouse over to some menu and then click, click and click. For instance, I dont go to the Start Menu, All Programs, Accessories and then open Paint. Instead what I do is, I simply open start menu and type mspaint in the RUN command line and enter – there you go. Similarly for launching the calculator, I simply type calc in the RUN command line.

There are many more commands which makes your usage easier (but if you know them). So, I decided to share some commands with you people. Following are the commands which you can use in the RUN. In Windows Vista and Windows 7 you simply have the Run Command line in the Start Menu. But in Windows XP you need to click on the RUN option in the Start Menu.

How To: Windows Live Download, Offline Installer

Windows Live which includes; Messenger, Mail, Writer, Photo Gallery, Movie Maker, Toolbar, Family Safe and Silverlight is installed using an Online installer from http://download.live.com. Many people don’t like this way of running the installation process online. Rather they prefer to download everything before and then install it from their own computer.

So, I tried to figure out how to get the offline installer and finally got a way.

Windows Live Download – Online Installer downloads a 1mb file.
Windows Live Download – Offline Installer downloads a full setup file of 134mb in size.

Simply goto http://download.live.comand click the Download Button. It will take you do the next page, simply CANCEL the popup of download box that you get. Now on the right panel you will see the “TRY AGAIN” button. Click on it, and get the Offline Installer. Yes, this is it – So Simple

Difference Between Facebook Live Feed and News Feed

Few days back facebook (as usual) changed their main home page interface again. People are really hating facebook for this change again. When the users become used to of some interface, Facebook changes it again. These rapid changes are not liked by people. Recently the main page is changed and facebook introduced two quite complex things “News Feed” and “Live Feed“. 95% of the people are still not aware them that what are the differences in both these feeds.

Facebook Live Feed vs News Feed

News Feeds shows you the position where you left your facebook last time. It shows you all the posts which were live at your last signout from facebook.

On the other hand, Live Feeds is the current on going activity on the facebook.

Whenever you login to your facebook, it shows you the News Feed page first so that you can know where you left the last time. And with the live feed you will see some numbers like 100+ or something. These numbers show the number of activities taken place among your friends since you were not on facebook.

How to: Windows Live Messenger Appear in Taskbar of Windows 7

Today I finally installed Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate and enjoying it. The only problem that was annoying me was the Windows Live Messenger in Windows 7. When I used to login/run Windows Live Messenger, it used to appear in the full start menu bar instead of going down in the task-bar near the clock. The huge tab of Windows 7 was disturbing me when I was running lots of applications.

So after a little hanky panky I figured out how to make Windows Live Messenger appear in the task-bar (near clock) instead of appear in the full start task-bar.

How to send Windows Live Messenger in Task Bar With Clock in Windows 7:

Close Windows Live Messenger.
Start.
Right Click on Windows Live Messenger.
Click on Properties.
Click on the Compatibility Tab.
Enable the compatibility check-box and set it to Windows XP Service Pack 3.
Click Ok,
And now Enjoy Windows Live Messenger

Yesterday when I logged in to my Windows Live Messenger a popup window opened and had a strange things on it. Usually such kind of text is found on the web templates which was written on it. Bit.ly introduced a new short url J.MP

The race of the shortest trimming URL is still on. Recently a lot of different companies started the website to shrink/trim/short long URLs and now just because of the Twitter, things are becoming quite fast. The race is on to get the shortest URL domain, even the current short URL trimming websites have started getting even new better domain. In the month of July 2009, the very famous StumbleUpon started a short URL domain too with the name of SU.PR. Now one of the already very famous short URL website bit.ly jumped in again with even a better small URL domain named http://j.mp.

Before that as I have already mentioned in my previous article of 23 URL shortening websites that http://a.gd was the shortest URL domain and after that a new website came in with the name of http://9.gp and finally now we have no more with the name “JUMP” and the domain is quite short like http://j.mp/pickmore. Yesterday when I tried to shrink a URL the characters after j.mp/ were quite less but today when I tried, the URL became quite big. I tried trimming the URL of pickmore and the URL became something like http://j.mp/2uiBEX. It shows that the characters used after the slash are 6 so far. Whereas, if I compare this with the http://9.gp website then I’m quite happy with them. 9.GP is only using 3 characters after the slash (Oh yes, may be because its not that famous so far and as soon as the traffic starts to flow in, their URLs length will increase by that time too).

I am using Windows 7 and having problem with activation because i have downloaded Windows 7 from torrent.So , after every three hours I have got a message from my windows in the shape of a pop-up which appears from the taskbar and shows “Activate Now “.

Today, one of my friend asked me for Windows 7 RC and while browsing through Microsoft website I came to know that Microsoft is shutting down the downloads for Windows 7 RC on August 20 , 2009.

Microsoft website says :

“Downloads will be available until August 20, 2009. After that, you can still install the RC and you can get a product key if you need one.”

Well, Windows 7 RC was offered for download by Microsoft on May 4, 2009. Microsoft made the decision that the download of Microsoft Windows 7 would be available till July, but when July arrived the date was extended till August 15, 2009. On August 15, 2009 I don’t know what, but something struck them again and Microsoft extended five more days for Windows 7 RC. Now the final date announced by Microsoft is August 20, 2009. So hurry up and download your Windows 7 RC copy today. Click here to download Windows 7 RC in 32 bit version and also in 64 bit version.

We all know, Pirate Bay, the famous torrent tracker site is being closed soon. With over 2 million torrents, Pirate Bay is one of the best sites. Pirate Bay, being sold is a nightmare for the heavy torrent users.

But an anonymous user uploaded a single torrent containing approx. 900,000 Pirate Bay torrents in it. A single massive archive of 21.3 Gigabytes! The Explanation for the missing files from the “super” torrent from Pirate Bay is:

“The index has 873671 torrents, ranging from id 3211594 to 5051940 (2009-08-13)
The discrepancy is most likely due to many torrent files including the TPB tracker but has not been uploaded to the web site.“

The anonymous uploader of the giant torrent told TorrentFreak that he just wanted to be assured of the torrents’ safety so he created the torrent just in case all of them would be deleted after the site is sold.

“I suppose I want us to have assurances. If the PirateBay deal disappoints us, we can just put it up again.”

Although many users won’t download the 2.13 gig torrent, but it is one of the most important torrents as it again proves that you can kill hosts, sites, trackers, whatever! But you can’t stop the users or the Technology! Its the destruction of PirateBay, not of BitTorrent. If something does happen to PirateBay, all of these torrents will show up somewhere else and it will start all over again!
